A timing attack doesn't change the problem t;t. Lol Byun and Maru hating TvT, I guess they just like TvP then. Well he isn't that wrong. Currently, Top Korean Protoss have shown to have plenty options to kill Zergs before they reach Broodlords and the terrans aren't doing bad either when it's important. He also basically admits that Broodlord+Infestor is imba once you reach it, so i'm sure he'd be fine if they nerf it but buff something else. What's worst is that Broodlord+Infestor is terribly boring to watch. So nowadays PvZ is like the old ZvP where protoss turtled until colossi-void ray? Well :/. No because Zerg can't build their army off 2 bases and Protoss has much better defensive options. It's a lot easier to break zerg before they get infestor/brood than it was to break Protoss before they got voidray/colossus Disagree. Mutas always handled that composition fine, but there was a huge huge huge fear of 6gate timings from MC for a while that resulted in muta play not being utilized. Even before the buff to infestors, there was a massive massive resurgence of muta play in ZvP. Tbh, I think the main reason Voidray/Colo was so ungodly powerful was... 1. Maps (shakuras limits counters heavily) 2. Failure of usage of spines/spores, as the mentality back then was the extra resources were needed for a remax. It wasn't uncommon to see Zergs with 3k minerals banked in anticipation of a needed remax while staying on lair tech excessively long, then being unable to remax in time as the Toss pushed into the bases and your army was completely separated. Trying to tech to hive in the meantime and remax BL was even worse due to having to morph corrupters, THEN BL, while gathering all the corrupters (relatively slow) in the same area at once in anticipation where the Protoss was headed. 3. Excessive usage of shitty hydras because the mentality was that they were better than roaches for the same supply and provided the DPS needed while roaches buffered, not realizing they completely killed any opportunity of counter attacks and aggression + Show Spoiler + Don't get me wrong, I used roach/hydra/corrupter for a long long time before trying new shit. I eventually settled on ling/bling/muta and that was when I had the best win% in ZvP probably ever. Would stay 2 base and rush drop/ovie speed to handle any 6gate pushes (demolished the sentry heavy armies b/c toss used to 3gate expo), although it was a *little* weak to the much less popular 7gate blink stalker (less of an allin when it's 2 base vs 2 base). Tore shit up and beat most top Protosses on the scene... then the Archon was buffed midseason which counters lings, blings, and mutas and according to sc2gears my winrate dropped to 23% post patch because EVERYONE was trying them out in rushes... I went from rank 43 GM to rank 196 GM in less than 3 weeks due to that fucking patch). Of course, unless your point is more so that before the metagame developed to this point, people were saying the voidray/colossus combo was unbeatable just like infestor/BL is now unbeatable. Then I guess you have a point, as I've been on both trains. I thought voidray/colo was stupid OP, just like how I think Infestor/BL is super OP now. Although the difference is that even with a retarded amount of resources as Protoss, it doesn't really matter what unit composition you choose. With Voidray/Colossus, the fact you lost was you didn't have time to get the composition you wanted. Even with like 6 carriers, 5 stargates waiting, 5k/3k banked, a Protoss is still likely to lose unless they can split the map 50-50. Just too many times the engagement, if a perfect vortex isn't pulled off, Zerg wipes the Protoss clean with 40-50% of it's army remaining, minimum. | ||
