Remember you can pre-order your copy through the TL store and help support Team Liquid! It's also an easy way to get a beta key! |

I have two younger brothers and so I'm considering buying three in advance (as I did with WoL), and so I'm hoping to receive three beta keys (one for each of us). Will I receive three beta keys if I buy them all together? Do I need to purchase all of them separately?
Also, what if I already have a beta key? Is that irrelevant?
I would recommend ordering from three accounts on amazon. I don't think they are going to give multiple keys to a single order.

In terms of the usual Blizzard speed, that's near the speed of light.
But three years development for this one... well, I won't complain about anything, although I have no clue what took so long. But seriously, another three years from now, when the second expasion will come out, this will just seem like some kind of joke. Wings of Liberty will feel like it's decades away for most people. tbh, they weren't working on Diablo and WoW between SC and SC:BW releases. They have entirely different teams working on each game, so making multiple games at once has no correlation with the length of time it takes them to complete one or the other. Having talked to some Blizzard employees, I am under the impression that they shuffle people around from team to team depending on what is most pressing.
This is pretty easy to check, you just need to compare the credits of SC2 with the credits of D3,
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AvbIVki034R2dDQ0ekVKVkhCVGhnRlRmc0JldjlBSmc
So they mainly share sub-teams, battle.net, cinematics, audio, QA, some writing. It's a slightly incomplete list because it was compiled with google refine from 2 different sources of credits but it does give some idea.

However if I get the free shipping it will take 5-8 business days and I know I'll be having a panic attack waiting that long after release to play. What should I do? Is Amazon just trying to milk me for an extra $8? because I don't see why it wouldn't be at my door on the release day regardless of shipping type, I'm ordering freaking 4 months in advance Well it's not like Amazon has copies just sitting there right now. They'll get some right before release and that's why you have to pay for shipping. Of course not, maybe I'm clueless about this whole pre-ordering thing but why would I pay $48 to get the game on release when I could go to the store and get it for it's retail price? I thought pre-ordering usually guaranteed you the game on or before the release date for a similar price, otherwise why bother?
It's got nothing to do with preordering and everything to do with ordering online. Places charge for shipping this is nothing new and amazon will get it to you on release day. Also $48 will be extremely similar to buying a $40 dollar game plus tax at a store. Plus you're getting access to the beta so that's worth the shipping cost easy.

It's multiplayer only, and for a while there it was 1v1 only i'm not sure if this is still true.
Amazon and Gamespot in certain countries are the only places that seem confirmed to be doing it so far, you'll have to check with your local retailer there's no guarantee that they'll be doing it.

The beta ladder only has 1v1, both ranked and unranked. You can play team games and vs ai via custom games, however. There are also a few user-made maps that have been uploaded, such as unit tester maps.

Cool release date confirmed. Was hoping would be in 2012 , oh well, still plenty SC2 around. xD

Anyone get their beta key yet that pre-ordered today? I forgot if Amazon says you'll get it in up to 4 days or 4 days.

Got a few questions:
Is it possible to pre-order on amazon.com, get a beta key, and then cancel the pre-order, but still have the beta key ? )
Also, does the beta keys from amazon.com work for eu players? Is it all the same server or what?

You probably could... Amazon doesn't charge you until it ships, and I don't think I have ever had a preorder that cannot be canceled. Once your key is entered in bnet, you certainly don't have to worry about it being taken away.
Beta keys probably work globally.. if not, you might need to make a temp us.battle.net account.

For me, it comes out on spring break.. so perfect time to spend many waking hours doing the campaign

Blizzard Collector's editions are so uninspiring.
Behind the scenes DVD...Meh, it's the same every time Art book is ok for flicking through once or twice Some ingame items for other games you may or may not play Another mouse pad...just like the one in every WoW expansion.
I was hoping for something unique like the Raynor dogtags from WoL, this is all pretty generic. Do not want.
Not to mention another £10 for the digital deluxe, which gives absolutely nothing if you don't play zerg/WoW/Diablo. Nice marketing.

I pre-ordered yesterday through the eu.battle.net website. Now I realize that I will probably not get a Beta key because I did not use any coupon, did not go through the TL store or anything Is there any way I can fix this ? I've been eager to play the beta since start, I bought all the Blizz games since Warcraft 2 and played them at a competitive level, provided feedback during previous beta's etc.. And even after a pre-ordering I still can't beta test it.. This makes me extremely annoyed I know I could have looked at the TL site before ordering, that's not the point : is there any way I can get a beta somehow, now that I already pre-purchased ? Thanks for any information !!
