How does it feel to manage to make an astonishing comeback?
Once I was at 0-3, I was motivated to keep playing not by a desire to take the series, but to win at least a single set. After finally taking the win, though, I feel great.
How did you end up in a 0-3 situation?
I prepared to play macro games at first, but during the first set, I lost my focus and lost after my Sentries were destroyed. During the second set, I lost because I built my Robotics Facility too late. During the third set, I became overconfident. From the fourth set onwards, I contemplated the reasons that I had lost, and I decided to return to playing the aggressive style that has often worked for me so well.
In the second set, you lost after your Robotics Facility was too late.
On the first set on Ohana, I lost my Robotics after I built it, but during the second set, I couldn't even manage to get it up (laughs). I was very dismayed, and I think I misclicked during that game.
Around when did you think that you would be able to take the series?
After I won the fifth game, I started feeling that it could be possible, and after the sixth set, those feelings grew stronger. I believed that I had secured my victory once I successfully hit my opponent's natural during the final game.
We would like to hear your feelings about your semifinal match.
I thought that I was sure to win the first set, but I ended up losing anyway. I had prepared an enormous amount for that game, so losing dealt a great blow to me. During the other games, DongRaeGu was able to counter my play very well because of how well he knew my style. I lost because I was lazy and only bothered to prepare against his old style that I had seen before.
Is there no way for Protosses to counter a Brood Lord-Infestor army composition?
At the moment, I don't think there's any particular solution. No matter what unit composition that Protoss uses, it's impossible to beat Brood-Infestor. The proper answer is supposed to be the Carrier, but those are too easily defeated by Fungal Growth. I once talked to David Kim about this, and even he said that he doesn't think there's a counter in Wings of Liberty (laughs). I don't know how things will be in Heart of the Swarm. Even looking at it myself, I don't think there's a proper way to fix the problem because there's a risk of weakening Zerg too much.
How do you predict that the final match between DongRaeGu and Rain will go?
If he is able to show off some revolutionary PvZ as Bisu did in the past, I think Rain will win, but otherwise, I think he will fall to Brood-Infestor. It's important to search for a timing before Zerg is able to set up that unit composition, but because Zergs are too sharp nowadays and are aware that losing against Protoss is difficult once ZvP reaches the late game, it's hard to find a successful timing anymore.
We're curious to hear your thoughts about participating in this OSL.
Initially, I had thought of the OSL as a battle between the eSF and KeSPA players. But by the time that I reached the Round of 4, all of that became irrelevant and the league turned into a pure contest of skill, so I think that the OSL ended on a high note for me. Back during the group nominations, there was a slight atmosphere of hostility between the eSF and KeSPA players, but after witnessing how quickly the KeSPA players' skills improved, we began to show more respect for them. Although I unfortunately wasn't able to advance to the finals, since I managed to show good results and reach third place, I feel satisfied.
You'll be playing in the GSL Up-and-Downs next week.
I'm glad that there aren't many Zergs in my group. Recently, I've begun liking PvP a lot. My win rate during practice in my matchup against Protoss has been quite high. Since I've already had previous experience advancing through the Up-and-Downs, I want to make sure that I remain in Code S.
Do you have anything more that you would like to say?
I think that Last will feel crushed after losing in reverse-sweeps twice in a row, so I would like it if he stayed strong. My girlfriend was unable to come with me today due to work, but I'm happy that I was still able to win. I want to send my thanks to my manager, reis, in addition to my mother and my team's sponsors. Finally, I want to thank all of my fans who have always cheered for me.

Poor Last. His SC2 career has only just gotten started but unless he wins a GSL/OSL he'll always be known as the guy who lost from being up 3-0 twice.
|
That must have been an all time record from Last. Losing two Bo7 in a row after leading 3-0.... Funny enough, he beat Flash 3-2 before after being behind with 0-2.
Completely missed the OSL today and one game of the GSL finals. Didn't realize those games were scheduled earlier than usual.
Must have been epic as well, so congrats MC!

Funny thing is, three weeks ago, he was the known as the player who came back when 0-2 against Flash in an OSL. Things can turn so quickly.

Hahahaha we need a term for having a tendency to be reverse-killed. Something similar to "Kong" for the second placers.

Last started out as some STX b-teamer, then he kind of became their ace as he managed to avoid zerg for a long time while bogus kept getting terrans now in SC2 he's the guy who got reverse swept twice poor kid his career is such a roller coaster.

Are there VODs for these games? I can't find them.

I like MC's attitude. He's entertaining but he show's respect where it's due.

GoGo BronzeToss!
I like his response to going 0-3.

"If he is able to show off some revolutionary PvZ as Bisu did in the past, I think Rain will win,"
this would be awesome, but i doubt it. i think rain will hit some strong timing attacks. also, lol@david kim :D
must be pretty hard for last to lose 2 times like this but gratz to mc.

Great interview, and even david kim assumes that there is no solution vs bl-infestor , but well we have HoTs coming to fix it.
