How do you feel about making it to the finals of an OSL?
This was a land that I never thought I could step on back when I was an amateur for SC1. I am so dazed right now since I was able to get to the finals of an OSL.
You showed a very weak side of you during the interview after the semi finals.
I found hope as I just kept on practicing. I think I also mentioned something like this during the interview. I got the thought that I could actually win this as I kept on practicing. I just somehow found a way to do it.
You stated that Protoss wasn't OP.
I think I said something that wasn't true along the middle of that interview (laughs). But as long as the maps are done well, I don't think Protoss is OP. I actually think Zerg is more OP.
It felt like you completely deciphered MC's intentions today.
There is a play style that he always does. He tends to alternate the same several plays. I put that thought in to my mind and I practiced his other plays. By the time I had to face him, I had already finished all my research on him.
In game one on Daybreak, you showed a very aggressive play.
I wanted to poke him heavily while trying to comfortably transition to the late game. I felt like if I kept on playing like I always do, I would end up putting the Protoss in too good of a position. I also did this play on Daybreak for game five but I didn't necessarily do it because it was Daybreak but because I knew that kind of play style was the right choice against MC.
You lost game four even though you were up 3-0.
I didn't really worry about it. I had the advantage in game four but I ended up making a big mistake. But I still felt confident that I would win game five.
Protoss players have stated that it is really difficult to defeat the late game infestor/brood lord composition from Zerg.
I don't really care to be concerned over Protoss complaints. I wish they would just find out what the answer is all on their own.
Have you become resistant to the immortal timing rushes?
I think I've developed a lot of resistance. I especially practiced a lot on Ohana and through that I was able to find out a lot of ways to block it. But I still have games where I either block it or don't block it. I think other Zerg players are like this as well. Force fields play such a huge role that sometimes you lose a game even though you are sure you can win it.
You will face By.Rain in the finals. How do you feel about this?
I know that he is a good player. He's obviously a good player. But right now, even I am bursting with confidence. I still wasn't feeling that sure even when I got to the Ro8 but now that I've defeated MC, I have some great momentum. I think I'll find a way as I practice.
Don't you get the feeling that you would like to eliminate public enemy #1 By.Rain?
It's not good for me if I do really well from the get go (laughs). I have to start off slowly in the beginning so that I can get to a higher place later on. I've grabbed Rain on GSL so it looks like I will also have to grab him for the OSL.
Rain won WCS Asia last weekend.
I'm not really concerned about that. I mean, he just played a ton of PvPs right? (laughs)
It must have been a while since you've been on a big stage.
It's my first time since my MLG victory. But I'm not the type to get nervous anyways so I'm not really all that worried.
What do you think about the maps for the finals?
I really think I'm screwed. I have no idea who picked those maps (laughs). The map order is absolutely terrible. Since I'm in such a crappy situation, I'm going to have to practice a ton.
You won the 2012 GSL Season 1 this year. Would you like to win another championship here in Korea?
I don't think I'm even satisfied with two victories in one place. I really thought I would win more but I haven't so it's really disappointing. I really want to win two championships in Korea. I'm not really concerned about titles but I think I'll get other titles as I win more championships so that's all good.
If you had anything to say to your fans?
I am so grateful to my fans who cheer me on regardless of whether I do good or not. I saw some people write "DRG can't beat MC and he can't beat Rain so hurry up and get eliminated" today (laughs). I want to show those people that I haven't died yet. I showed a bit of it today so I really hope my fans cheer on the final remaining Zerg.
Anything else you would like to say?
I want to thank my teammate Protosses for helping me plan out my strategies for this match. I want to thank our manager, his family, my girlfriend who came to cheer for me, and my fans. I want to thank a user out there that calls himself "Remain Strong DongRaeGu". He really cheered me on heavily. Since I follow him thoroughly I want to request that he create a song of encouragement for me. I want to thank our sponsors Lotte, RAZER, and partner MYM. Lastly, I want to thank the OGN staff who I am close with.
