I think Rain > MVP but then Taeja > Rain. Anything is possible though

Why Taeja > Rain when Rain just crushed Taeja 2 weeks ago?

I'm expecting Taeja to study up a bit on Rain, and have a little more preparation for the hardcore lategame Templar drop harass. He'll probably get more missile turrets and whatnot. Also since it is a best of 7 so I expect him to throw in some shinanigan's, which hopefully Rain will be better prepared for than in this series.

All in all though I HOPE, regardless, that it ends up being a totally awesome mind blowing series!! :D

The problem is it is really hard to prepare against Rain. Rain's strength is waiting to engage at the right moments. And drop harass is just a free advantage for him. He doesn't need drops to win. As long as he can move in position fine then he will win. And from the last matches it looked like he could force those against Taeja. Sun just has better map awareness.

Of course.
Kespa player always had great map awareness.

Most likely due to great mini-map awareness that was much needed in BW.

edit: Also thanks for all the hard work seeker.

I don't think "BW elitism" should apply here. afaik, rain didn't actually have any major accomplishments in BW, whereas players like Jaedong dropped to code B (flash is certainly doing well though). I think Rain would have excelled at SC2 no matter where he started. TLPD shows a pretty average record (literally - 50% across all matchups total)

Rain sounds much more like an "MVP" type of character - floating around the A team, with streaks at times (I think right?) but overall average, and being much more adapted to SC2.

Granted my facts could be wrong - please correct me if they are but I think I'm relatively accurate.

All that said, the kespa players are certainly doing well, but I don't think they're doing well enough to prove that hte whole elephant in the room thing was true. You might be able to argue "they haven't had enough time" but how much is enough? And its also, imo, easier to adapt to a metagame (kespa) than invent it. THAT said, what they've done is definitely a testament to their practice regime.

you can't compare MVP with rain. rain was never floating around the A-team. the better comparison for MVP would be ssak.

I'm glad foreigners are being phased out again, they don't spend nearly enough time playing.

The elephant has been real this whole time, and it was obvious to anyone who watched BW compared to SC2 players. Most foreigner SC2 players are simply garbage and the rest mediocre with the exception of Stephano and a few others.

I hope I don't get warned for this but, I bet you're Filipino (sinigang is what I had for lunch the other day here in the Philippines).

Anyway, elephant talk aside, I think the Kespa pros can catch up and surpass the ESF pros if they maintain their extremely strict training regimens. Still, in retrospect, I think it was a little unfair to discount the talents of the ESF pros.

From here on out, I don't think talent's an issue, it's what ESF and Kespa do to augment their players' natural talent.

Wow, I don't remember this interview... probably dismissed it at the time as "coach talking big about his player." Guess Oov was serious

Also, eh, Flash did do some major TvP innovation with his fast Armory builds, and he was one of the leaders in making Rax CC defensible vs P. But I agree that his best point wasn't his crazy strategy-defining builds, but his overall game sense, macro, and micro.

Who woulda thought Sun would come from BW semi-mediocrity to just.....monstrous SC2 player? Dang. I guess some people are just more attuned to certain games/ideas etc based on who they are as a person and their approach to things...

Sun is just beasting >.<

I wouldn't say he was semi-mediocre as he was a pretty solid A-teamer (who was still continuing to get better). He never showcased any results in the individual leagues in BW though so it is kinda surprising to see him at the top of the world right now.
