But I'd still wish that the player pool would be a bit more even, if the games were straight up, Sheth and Bomber would probably be ruling the whole event, with Bling and Illusion able to pull an upset. Select and WhiteRa are hard to rate. they aren't participating in many competitive events, but when they do, they really kick ass sometimes. And the rest are the rest.

This event looks amazing, im so excited for it. The casters definitely complement the nature of this tournament too, both Day and Husky are so energetic and I can see it working out so well. Does anyone know if the maps are or are going to be published? I'd love to play this with my friends too

Assuming it is even derived from Tbs idea (given similarities it doesn't necessarily mean it totally is) I don't believe that means he owns everyone who wants to use the idea.

Incredibly late info on the event. Now all of us people in Seattle get to find out: A) You need a PAX ticket B) Limited seats first come first serve if you even managed to get a PAX ticket. Did Redbull forget PAX has been sold out? What a fucking joke. Guess we still have to wait up here for a real event... sad.

Not really concerned, I am fully booked for PAX with other companies and my own coverage and the similarities to Trollobattles don't really matter. Everything builds upon what came before it, iteration is the lifeblood of the games industry and this should be a pretty fun event. Shame they decided to host it at an already sold out venue though, particularly when there are so many other NEW games to look at during PAX that would draw the attention of the majority.

Are there going to be concrete choices offered every few minutes? I can't imagine that Day 9 and Husky would be trying to read a Twitch chat of spam while trying to cast a game. Having specific categories of choices would allow for a more controlled disruption of the game with less external confounds and offer distinct, but comparable ways of messing with people. It would also address how choices impact players at different stages of the game. -Important because a nuke at 5 mins =\ a nuke at 25. edit: nevermind! my question's answered. I can't wait to see the different choices as they're revealed on the redbull website :D

I wonder if you could work any of these type of effects into a regular tournament map that happens at a certain time or is triggered by something specific happening so it is predictable and can be planned and stategized around. That would be a crazy gimmick map to change up the metagame

There hasn't (as far as I can remember) ever been anything like this. This feels very much like a group of pros playing the "g0d's land" game in the arcade. If you have friends that you want to get into the game that aren't really the competitive types, this is the go to event, I think. I love that they are taking full advantage of the fact that this isn't a hardcore MLG style tournament. This isn't about prize money or anything like that...it's about giving back to the fans. And so 8 of the biggest, most beloved, most community driven and hands-on personalities in the business are asked and agree to partake. Very special thanks to all the players and those that got this event together. I have no idea what the viewship will be like but I know there are people that will love every minute of this...I'm one of them. And to Day9 and Red Bull: yet another innovative addition to the Starcraft world.

LAN scheduled for Thursday though Saturday, but PAX scheduled for Friday through Sunday. . . How can we go see Thursday night's LAN event? Would we need a 3 Day PAX ticket since Thursday PAX tickets don't exist? Can we buy individual Tickets to Thursday night? Can we just show up at the hotel on Thursday night? HELP ME GIVE YOU MONEY!!!! :-D

It was still hilarious, everyone just got a little peeved that Day9 went a little nuts with the unstoppable and uncontrolled destruction. Storm map is going to be amazing. Edit: They had 45 minutes tops to play game three.

He goes all the way from Korea and important practice just to have Day9 take away any chance to win. Ruins the whole point of the randomness and fun of the event when Day9 just decides to hand the other team a win. -_-

I'm also surprised incontrol made a broken promise of announcing whether stephano would join eg or not if he were to win. That was just stupid.

Basically, Day[9] ignored the audience and spammed infestors to Bling's team two games in a row which effectively decided the game instead of letting the players deal with the catastrophes and try to use them to their advantage. Bomber showed initiative in adjusting his game plan to his advantage (a 3 SCV rush to destroy a nexus during the mutation spawn), but then Day[9] gave the other team infestors to keep them from dying, but ofc, super infestors OP. The game before that Day[9] gave Bling's team 11 infestors as a panic button move when he accidentally killed Bling 1.5 minutes into the game by swarming him with critters. It was really just Bomber getting shafted despite showing really good adaptability and excellent, creative play and being the favorite of the audience (whose input Day[9] should've listened to). The point of the tourney is to have fun, yeah, but it's also to not leave the audience with the feeling that the players can do absolutely nothing in their power to win, no matter how much they adapt. It's a bit of a problem when one team's fate is decided by Day[9]'s decision to spam as many "powers" as possible. The ones on today's map basically spelled instant death for some players, unlike the ones yesterday, which you could recover from.

Before people start hating on Day9 they should remember that he is human too and doing what he does is not easy and can be very stressful. He did the hosting, interviewing, casting, game manipulation, taking in polls, interacting with the audience and players constantly. I don't think people give him enough credit for doing all of these things while being entertaining. I think he did a great job today overall. People make mistakes.

I hope they tone down the individual blessings and curses and stick with more global effects for the remaining games. Sure, toss in a blessing if someone is going out in the first 5 minutes, or the crowd REALLY wants it, but otherwise just poke and prod with the globals.
