Anyway, no idea what to think about this. It really depends on what Boxer's role at SlayerS was. Presumably he was a strategy coach more than anything so this shouldn't be the disaster people are thinking. SlayerS was one of the richest teams, I'm sure they're still OK, and Boxer helping out a KeSPA team is probably good in the long term. Boxer was one of the richest team. Now with Boxer gone and Jessica's terrible PR what company going to risk putting their name on a drama creator ... You do realize that Slayers has always been Jessica's team, right? Boxer's name was just used for public attraction, but the team was always run by Jessica and Cella. Slayers lost there "Face" the most important part for the outside world. I am sure Jessica's a fine team manager as long as she's not doing an PR and stay's in the background. This is already not happening with her Tweets going on currently. For a team this is as bad as it gets tbh. Believe me when I say this, there is more to this deal than just Boxer moving to SKT as coach. We are working with the info we currently have. It says you are from South Korea so if you are Korean your perception of Foreigner culture is different. Foreigner sponsors favor people with bold ideas and who are great spokesperson Look what Jessica did to Eve ... What she said about Dragon... People foreigner companies want to deal are not like her. Just look how much money EG has and look what kind of leadership they have. Now with Boxer gone and Bad PR, you have to virtually be talking about KESPA feeding Slayers so they survive. What? Foreign sponsors? LOL I'm pretty sure Razer and Intel were Korean sponsors. First off, it was Intel Korea (same Intel division who sponsors IM now) who sponsored Boxer only. It wasn't a team sponsor. And Razor no longer sponsors Slayers. Second, I don't think you understand how big of a corporation SK really is. Yes I do understand and that is why I said that the only viable option then would be if SK would be virtually "Feeding" Slayers which wouldn't make a difference if they merged togehter. At least a merger would be taken more positively.
I'm not aware that Slayers is in any financial trouble unlike some of the other teams. Slayers won't get shut down simply because of lack of funding.

What the fuck is going on? Does this mean that Boxer is done playing? He's leaving Slayers?
I'm so fucking confused now. It's nice to see Boxer back on SKT, but what is Slayers without Boxer? A few weeks ago I was worried about MMA leaving Slayers, but Boxer leaving Slayers is unimaginable.

Her current PR going with FXOBoSs is only nailing more nails to the coffin ... I don't think SlayerS PR image is going to be destroyed by tweets. It harms it seriously in community like TL. Come on, FXOBoSs makes an opinion and Jessica goes on offensive ? Her tweets on Dragon harmed their PR. It sounds like you have evidence to support this claim. Care to show us? Care to read teamliquid? Look on the thread itself about that issue. And even in this thread ? Look how many people go on Jessica ? I'm sure if she did not do anything wrong people would not mention her all the time... Even the MMA thread recently was full of speculation about Jessica fault.
And this conclusively hurts SlayerS because? People on TL sponsor SlayerS? Mind you I'm not saying it doesn't piss some people off. But keep in mind people on TL MAY NOT be SlayerS target demographic. TL represents foreign SC2 fans, its almost as if you are forgetting that SlayerS has a Korean fan base it has to pander to as well. So please provide some evidence to actually show that SlayerS PR was damaged after the Dragon incident

Corperation size is irrelivent tbh. Intel is far bigger yet i doubt it's investing anything even close into Sc 2 teams.
Which is why I mentioned it was Intel Korea who was sponsoring Boxer, not the Intel Corp itself. It's the same thing with SK Telecom (sub division of SK Corp).

Hmm, It somehow seems fitting that he'd coach SKT but it seems SlayerS are falling apart recently. They already had troubles with MMA and it seems that he will leave as soon as his contract is over and with all the players recently leaving the team I just don't know.
I guess they did aquire Genius recently though, maybe that is a good sign.

crazy, that is even worse than the stunt sheth pulled of with fxo! :o

I was talking more specifically in the long run. As a team you should strive for more sponsors than less. Look how much Intel and Steelseries are pouring into EG. Many teams, present almost in every tournament. Of course they had to put a lot of money in Slayers. In addition there is no Korea Intel - Korean division decision has impact on US. If American HQ would have a problem with Slayers PR guess what ? Korean division would not be allowed to continue. The point is that Slayers are losing their figurehead, MMA failed to become the "Star" so Slayers was still recognized as the Boxer's team even though it is owned by Jessica.
@farnham I agree the comment was little inconvenient but he has the right to voice his opinion. Jessica simply has different perspective of what "freedom of speech" means (culture perhaps).

Someone should stop Jessica from tweeting stupid things =/. It doesn't really help her team at all.
Someone needs to do her a favor and just ban her from twitter. It would end some drama and probably lead to more people having a positive opinion of her instead of a negative one.

slayers..... dont go away slayers you are a damn good team
|
really good move imo, he's always been a mentor and has mad respect towards the players rights.
it sucks he's not going to play but i couldnt see anyone being a better coach than him.
|
the main reason boxer is doing this is because he has money, but he aint that "rich" by any means, so like an ambitious male he wants to have a job
when he was offered the job of coaching SKT1 he loved the offer because it probably pays pretty nicely, so now he can bring in income from this job while his wife manages slayers and gets a little money from that management job. however boxers wife probably makes more money just from her celebrity status in korea than she does from being slayers manager.
boxer working for SKT1 and jessica managing slayers was better for boxer/jessica than boxer NOT taking the job. now they are making more money for their financial future
|
I am just hoping for a merger!! That would be so sick, without question they would have the deepest talent pool in Esports!

Poor SlayerS. Abandoned by their creator.
If SlayerS survives I already expect that come the end of the agreement SKT will swallow up what's left of SlayerS.
Well we'll see, might be exaggerating the outcome of this in my mind.

Coca, Genius, and Ryung in EG would be a nice pickup.
Eve too since EG knows how to promote players correctly.
It is unlikely to happen. Either Slayers surives or will fully be merged into SKT.

So this is why MMA wanted to leave?
