After the first successful Iron Squid Edition, whose Grand Finals fired up almost 3000 people in one of the most popular place in Paris, the Grand Rex, the Iron Squid staff just announced on Twitter that a new season is incoming ! This event will be casted in French by Pomf Et Thud (Pomf and Thud), the best Starcraft 2 casters in France (sponsored by ASUS Republic Of Gamers), and maybe by Apollo and TotalBiscuit, like the last time !

On May 6th of this year, we have seen SlayerS_MMA crowned in front of the most hottest crowd we can see in eSport, just ask the Koreans who were there :-) More than 50 000 people were watching the stream for the finals opposing SlayerS_MMA and TSLSymbol.
Hope to see a great competition with some more great show ! (remember the match between SlayerS_BoxeR and MarineKingPrime !!!!) Who do you expect to compete in the next season of Iron Squid?
Sure it will be, I watched the finals live in the Grand Rex, I could even talk with Pomf and Thud, the most successful casters in France, and I would have had a photo with MMA, my champion !
AWESOME news! Can't wait the hype to start: Iron squid is wonderfully weird and in my eyes one of the best tourneys So creative with their symbols & artwork. <3 Awesome streams and nice player pools...
More info : Pomf et Thud already said in an interview that Iron Squid Season 2 was ready for September of 2012, we'll have more announcements soon ! It's not a joke, really !

The production of the live event was absolutely amazing!
Was about to say the same thing, I do hope MMA comes back to defend his title, it just adds a certain flair to the event :D
IronSquid was such a pleasant surprise last time, I have utmost faith you guys are busting your balls to make it even better this time around. Excited!
Too many tournaments have been introduced in SC2, some with spectacular budgets, passion and great vision. Many of those have failed due to incompetence and a lot of repeated tournaments are still failing even though they should have learned from experience. To this day it seems to be a rule that vision and budgets are higher then results.
Ironsquid was an excepted. It is my most humble opinion the single best first time tournament where you got the feeling that these guys are learning fast and there are some seriously competent minds behind this.
The finals at The Grand Rex was absolutely outstanding. Alright so the english stream was pretty bad. They probally would have had apollo and TB at the event but it didnt seem possible at the time and the solution to have them cast from their given location ended up terribly bad. So i switched to the french stream despite not understanding a word and it was as exciting as watching a korean stream and I may end up watching the french again even if the english stream turns out great.
Props to Ironsquid for having brains over budget and I am most certaintly looking forward for season 2!

Uhh this is a PREMIER tournament for the absolute top-notch players..they wouldn't last long at all.
Oh yes! If the quality of players from the first Squid stays, you'll have me glued in front of my screen. I loved the first one, though I didn't catch much of the online part, but I loved the offline experience (some problems arose, sure, but an overall great impression).
I might have just been out of the loop, but I hope theres more hype this time! Last time i was on TL, and clicked on this link I got absolute blown away by the tournament (and of course the melodious sound of totalbiscuits voice)....definitely am gonna see it all again but we need more hype when is gets closer! Let everyone know about it :D
Awesome. Honestly, the first Iron Squid had been very underrated. Their production was astounding and the live event was managed extremely well. I am much more excited about Iron Squid 2 than the next MLG/IPL from this standpoint.
need the dates to book a train to Paris :D expecting MMA and a similar roster, but what would be really sick: a few bw pros who are doing well atm, hell effort, jaedong, reality... it'd be so freaking sick.
I'm excited, the last Iron Squid was awesome. I actually had the pleasure of meeting Pomf and a few guys from the Iron Squid team when I was on a night out in Hongdae. I don't remember much of that night but I'm pretty sure they were all really friendly guys
Will perhaps try to go to this one ! Yeah for the french sc2 scene =)
If they can convince Stephano to play well and get to the finals for this, omg <3 Things will explode. But sadly Stephano don't like the french scene that much
Awesome! Iron Squid casting timings were really hard for me to follow, but the all of the graphics and presentation looked great and of course always love to see new countries hosting events where Koreans come and have a ton of fun but also challenge the best foreigners have to offer!
Woo, I'm excited! I like the 1st Iron Squid, especially when each player had their own unique theme. I'm expecting more big names, maybe even BW pros!!! And Leenocktopus and Gracken better be part of the list!
Great stuff! Iron Squid was one of the most underrated tournaments of the year. I loved every minute of it. Can't wait until Iron Squid 2! I know it'll be as good as the last one!
Yay, so happy to see the Iron Squid return! Hoping for TSL players like Symbol, Polt and HyuN, and definitely Stephano. Either way, I know that Iron Squid is capable of inviting amazing players that bring out incredible games.
This will be pretty epic! - Loved the first one, extremely well done!
If you haven't checked out the friggin COSTUM CLASSICAL MUSIC THEMES they made for each player, check it out! That one is MC's theme, Nestea, Puma all of em, each have their own theme
Iron Squid 1 was fabulous, it is the tournament the most underrated but maybe one with the best line up !
I rememeber the first match of the RO8 of Symbol against MKP on Antiga shipyard, MPK didnt scout and goes to hellions harass but he was counter by the 7 roach rush of Symbol, just epic game ! ^__^
The game starts at 11:39 but it is the french cast. :/

It's too bad that the band messed up the live exhibition. At least on stream, the singer was either having a very bad day or serious issues with her mic level.
Iron Squid 1 came out of nowhere and was hands down in the top 3 tournament of the year imo.
The line up for the offline event was just absurd. The production was great, the music was en awesome idea, the casters were top notch... Man, it is hard to believe they could get up to this level again.
But this could actually be the first StarCraft event I attend live! I am so pumped for this!
Iron Squid was fucking awesome. I missed the finals (don't remember why) but the vibe of the tournament was fantastic, the organizers seemed to me like seasoned pros.
#1 Dreamhack - Always the best overall top shelf Euro games. Thorzain amazing, crowd nerd chills, no tech issues perfect casting just phenominal.
#2 Iron Squid - Insane production, casting, French flavor, reason its at #2 is I don't remember any games. What I came away with is the best feeling of eSports rising with the best crowd ever. Best trophy ever. GOGOGO Iron Squid 2!
#3 NASL S3 - When the casters Sumo wrestled that was dope. Ending with the Stephano dancing and lots of great games plus the hilarious gamer struts. (Stephano marching into We Are the Champions before games were played could be best BM ever) Even if the actual finals sucked. Oh wells.
#4 ASUS ROG - Mainly for the most epic casterbashing and the funniest comedy in ANY media this year. Seriously, youtube if you haven't seen it. Incontrol's TLO impression must be seen to be believed. A overall feel of a celebrity roast. No two casters have ever been as brutal to each other as Incontrol and 2GD. SOE proving herself as a master interviewer and MC's incredible lucky and crediting God for victories (joke I think).
#5 IPL IM vs. Liquid - I hated this actual tournament it was too long and way too much technical issue BS. Taeja's games were some of the best ever. If I watched on VODs this shoots up to #1 based on Taeja vs. Hwangsin i.e. best game ever played.

Im not gonna lie, the technical issues made me VERY mad. Reason im so mad is because like not only did TaeJa play like 7 games, but hte time between them was like an hour. Thats sooo tiring. I cant help but feel like if they didn't take so goddamn long, then it might've been a different tournament but what ever. TaeJa played some fun games so
Was a pretty good tournament last year but I have a hard time supporting TotalBiscuit and his antics. There are enough tournaments out there that I think I can miss this one and be ok.
Really great event, hope season 2 can be even better!
Da fuck ? Was this Kyan Khojandi playing SC2 with Elky ???
We had a 2c2 MoMaN + Norman (fait des videos) (a french youtuber) VS Elky+Kyan. Elky/Kyan win. (with the unusual Windows Update push on MoMaN computer)
Ironsquid has a special feel to it....From the production, to the venue and crowd to the special attention to detail etc. Easily top 5 tournies of the yr!!
Very exciting! I didn't get to watch much of the first one simply because of the time differences, but depending on who makes it to the finals I may make more of an effort to tune in.
Great to hear! Also, does anyone know where one can download all the player songs that they made? I know they're on youtube, but I was curious if they had somewhere to download them form.
I'm very excited for Iron Squid. It was a ton of fun to watch the live event stream. It needed more love before and hopefully can get it this time. It was Symbol's breakout before GSTL. And of course, MMA please compete!
ahah i remember english speakers watching the french stream since they aren't used to shouts every 10 seconds^^ Anyways it seems that the way the event was organized was really appreciated by the korean players so the lineup will probably be godlike once again (and please stephano no forfeit like last time D: )

his streak sorta coolen down, dont expect him to go on a domination as far as he has anymore. that said he should be invited assuming this is 20 players again
Great news ! I really hope too see some European Talents like Naniwa, Stephano, Grubby and some KR old legends of Broodwar ! Inviting Squirtle would be a great idea too !
It's funny how all of you guys seem to have been impressed by Ironsquid, have enjoyed it, whereas when I connected myself on the english chat, I only read insults towards Pomf & Thud (and the french in general), the show, and anti-french comments. Glad to see it wasnt unanimous
I guess there will be more qualified players than last time. It should be relevant. 2/20 was too little. But the rest was amazing. Come on Pomf & Thud !

Cant wait for iron squid 2 !
ps : sorry for my poor english
the tournament was good, but the english stream was absolutely atrocious. i really hope they get on location casters for it this time, the re streaming of a restream is just stupid plus, we're english, of course we were talking shit about the french, its what we do
Mmmh no, that's incorrect, what you limeys do is murder dentists and drink warm piss that for some reason you call beer.
That being said BobPerfid is absolutely right, it wasn't funny, it was very hateful actually, nothing like the traditional puns between the Brits and the Frenchies, which I like very much. Yanks are obsessed with the French, maybe because they didn't fully appreciate the "go fuck yourself" they received for the war in Iraq? Maybe because some of them watch Fox and are now pretty sure that France is in fact a district of North Korea where we live in houses made from bidets? Who knows.
Thankfully none of the aforementioned is relevant, IS2 will be awesome, with or without the day glow wombles from across the pond, and attended by yours truly.
- The tweet about the Iron squid 2 was posted a bit too early, this was not an official announcement. - Iron Squid 2 will start soon. - Many korean players want to participate. - There will be more live matches (only replay casting for the first edition). - Probably a different format. - The finals will take place in Paris, in a bigger (!!) venue than Le Grand Rex.
And a funny fact about the first tournament : before the end of the group stage, they had yet bought 4 tickets Seoul/Paris. :p
Thud also explains the fact that many competitions request a HD pass is due to AdBlock which hurt a lot the ad revenue on the streams.

Stade de France?
Hopefully I'll be able to attend the live event this time, had a bazillion exams the week after the event so I couldn't go ;__;
If they manage to pull as good of a price pool as previous time, they should manage to get an all-star line up once again. Hope they get DRG this time, he was the only huge name missing last time. And Taeja too!
OP: I don't want to be a dick, but why, why, why would anyone ever want to write a space before interpunction? Isn't this supposed to be an official and important thread?

In french you write a space before ";", "!" and "?" so a lot of french do the mistake to do it in english too.
I expect better casters. Apollo is actually great, but TotalBiscuit is always the big letdown of any tournament. Would love to see day9, artosis, tasteless, or even Grubby, if he's not competing and still into casting.

Rotterdam doesn't cast anymore (,since he is at ROOT)?

Nice Tournament, would love to see more casters and maybe replace CompleteCookie with someone else (DjWheat - DApollo would be nice, or Day9 - DApollo...)...simply dont like his casting.
Anyway, only a small blunder...I really liked the IronSquid :>

There's not many places in Paris bigger than than Le Grand Rex : Grand Rex : 2700 Zénith : 6700 Bercy : 17 000 Stade de France : 81 000

I'd put my money on Zénith
I don't think we're quite at Stade de France level yet, maybe if they schedule it as the warm up event before a 6 nations game. ^_^

There is also the Palais des Sports which can contain 2300 to 4600 people.
The finals of Iron Squid 1 still stand out as one of the best 1-day-events in Starcraft 2.
French esport fans always form an amazing crowd and the venue was incredible. (The tickets were damn expensive for an esport event and still so many people showed up, you just gotta love French esport fans <3)

Bigger than Le Grand Rex will most likely be Le Zenith (6000 people, twice more than le grand rex).
