So theres been a lot of rumors going on especially about most Swedish progamers being leaving their teams recently and not joining new ones.
It's been very hard to keep this a secret from the public and finally it will be announced now after our final player of the roster is announced of departure from previous team.
This has been an ongoing project that I've started quite a while back now along with our main sponsor ICA and we are happy to announce the first SC2 team consisting of only Swedish players.
"We are happy to be onboard on this growing sensation that is esports. Back in 1999 when ICA was first formed we never had any plans of sponsoring something like this but it is obvious to us now the internet is where the eyes are at and we are thrilled to learn more about this. We hope to provide the players the best diet possible and try get all our special offers on falukorv out there that everyone can buy. On top of that we are branching outside Sweden and will soon open an online-service where you can get home delivered products from ICA no matter where you live. - Bosse, owner of ICA"
"I'm the teams head chef, my role as head chef is to mainly keep king NaNiWa satisfied, be it by hand feeding him maple syrup and canadian bacon or by indulging any of his other food fetish's. Of course all ingridients I use to cook the food for the team comes from ICA, which provides the best health diet out there for athletes and gamers." - Payam "tex mex" Toghyan, Head Chef
You can find their stores located all over Sweden, have a wonderful day and enjoy your shopping.
Holy shit, I did not see this coming at all, just coming off reading Naniwa leaving Quantic. I guess all those people that said he was going to join EG or TL or some korean team were completely wrong. But I want to see how this works out, as it is very interesting. Congratz to Nani and I hope everything works out for his team and himself as a player
I would like to pledge my full support to the members of team ICA and wish them grand success in every tournament they enter. Please bring some of your products to your booth when you visit events so i can purchase accessories for my bedroom while cheering for you in the games. Fighting!
Got the weekly flyer from ICA, and very shocked to see their support to e-sports. There was a small add on the last page of the flyer announcing their sponsorship, figured it would be LoL, but now its confirmed!, GEGE
So awesome!!! All new team and it already includes two of my favorite swedes. I know where i'll be buying my food from now on! In addition i can now proudly say that i haveused more money on a sponsor than the most of people do (no expense to current sponsors can compare to how much money we Norwegians have to throw at the supermarkets:p).
Edit: Awww just realised its probably just a joke xD Stupod and hot-headed me.
Whoa, I'm happy for Naniwa now Although it sounds like he left Quantic abruptly, so perhaps that wasn't ideal. But I'm happy that Naniwa has found what sounds to be a really, really good team and nice fit for him
Doa has given us an update on the team erik lonnquist @GoSuDoa I heard @mouzMorroW and the entire ICA team get Code S seeds for next season too. Seems like ICA will be replacing ogs next GSTL.

P.S. Whoever took that ICA photo has never heard of "white balancing" (just nitpicking )
I had to check the date like ten times... could swear it was 1st of April.
No but seriously, is this serious? I think it's cool if it's for real... but NaNiwa? Isn't he like super friend with SaSe in Quantic? He's changing team more often then a regular guy is changing underpants.
seriously, great joke morrow, heard you had a fun time casting with madde the other weekend, i guess thats where you two jävla zergs thought that one up...
Oh wow, what's with unexpected bombs dropping left and right for the past couple weeks, haha. Good luck with the team, skill shouldn't be a problem with all Swedish players, hope to see you guys competing in team leagues.

This would be eqvivalent to like Wal mart building a pro team in US with all US stars :D
It makes absolutely no sense to me to post something like this as a joke. It's like people want to mimic the Onion, except with unfunny articles, and when you have no way to tell if it's real. When I go to even a trashy site like msn, I expect their articles to be at least based on a fact...
To all the people saying, "it's like making a "Walmart" team of Americans", I would consider that perfectly normal and akin to having Samsung or Acer sponsor a team. I guess this is an inside joke for Europeans only?

You sir, are wrong.
Anyway, below, from tallest to shortest, we have their team psychologist, their main SC2 coach, and their BM specialist. The BM specialist was at the personal request of Naniwa himself!
Why is it only Swedish players? Seems kind of strange, it's like saying "hey we're going to make a team of only pure bred Germans sponsored by a German bratwurst company"

Its an honor and a pleasure to join team ICA. As ICA's head chef my main duty is to keep everyone of king Naniwa's food fetish's satisfied. I want to thank Stefan "ICAMorroW" Mr.Andersson for giving me the opportunity to showcase my talents in a different field other than professional gaming.
I will keep all of our players stomachs full for many years to come.

headchef is just unnecessary, SC2 isn't a nutrition based sport so I don't see how that will work out, you need to focus on good practice regimes like the koreans, only way this team will be successful, wish you all the best though

either an idiot or the perfect counter troll
why would I troll? this is a huge opportunity for esports, I'd hate to see it not work, just some constructive criticism, having a headchef is a good way for the food side of things to get promoted but I doubt it will land GSLs, but time will tell I guess
Considering that I much prefer to shop from Coop I am quite relieved to realize this is a troll as I'd have to change to ICA if they started to support esports.
This is really funny troll post, but regardless, I think it is kind of messed up to put a handicapped person on the photo just for humor... I think that is actually very wrong of you, whoever decided to put that picture in... I'm pretty sure this is all a joke, bassically IMO the only way that would not be offensive was if this was 100% serious, but as I am inclined to believe this is all a elaborate joke, I think it is absolutely wrong to put a handicapped person on the photo just for humor, am I the only one that feels this was just plain wrong?

The picture is of the "ICA-crew", who are quite famous for their dorky commercials in Sweden. The down's guy is a part of the gang and thus appears in the picture. No reason to read more into it...

The handicapped person is used in many of ICA's commercials. While I agree that the use of him in these commercials can be offending, I don't think morrow should be hated for putting it in the OP.

Hey, if ICA can pull it off on national TV, I think it's quite fine adding a picture from that commercial series. It's not like any single swede hasn't seen it yet. Putting it out there should be rather be seen as a favor to folks with downs as the campaign serves to humanize the character.

What? The picture resembles the crew in the commercial thus making it more seemingly as the brand ICA. Has nothing to do with morals, ethics or shit. Thats not the point. It would have been offensive if there was a handicaped person completely randomly with no attachment to the post in the end.
Whether the series itself is offensive or not is another question. And even in the series they are rather humble towards the character. Giving a much more positive and realistic view on someone with mental deficiency instead of rendering them as useless and pointless beings.

Can you only see handicapped people as an object to be ridiculed? If he's part of ICA's marketing campaign, and MorroW is trying to make this post seem legit, it makes sense to use a picture that ICA might use for marketing. If it was just the two other dudes you'd have no problem, but because YOU see downs people a certain way you assume that things must be that way.

I can't help but think it's funny for anything to be sponsored by a grocery store, but it IS cool that eSports is attracting sponsors from all over the place. I also really like that it is an all Swedish team, hope they can resist the Korean fever.

Trolling aside, This would actually be a pretty good team if they teamhoused it up and trained like madmen lol. What has Morrow been up to lately anyway?
Would be great if there was a whole new layer to this troll because Morrow knew that Naniwa was actually getting a personal sponsorship with ICA or something. Would just be so funny if that was announced.

So essentially you're offended on behalf of other people who might be offended?

So theres been a lot of rumors going on especially about most Swedish progamers being leaving their teams recently and not joining new ones.
This was the troll red flag.
Really? For me it was the "TT1 as Head Chef" that made me realize it was an obvious trolling... :-P .. I was about to be really surprised to see Naniwa on a new team, It felt unfortunate when I realized it was a joke at the end. T_T
Another funny thing with this thread is people getting trolled and are like "wow amazing that a big company sponsors esports!!!!!". Guys, look up what kind of companies the KeSPA teams are owned by. If you jizz about the thought that a grocery store company from little Sweden would have a team, I don't know what you will do when you look some of the companies in KeSPA...

How madelisk can be an A teamer while jimpo is a B teamer ? Anyways it's a very good news, it's good to see non IT related sponsors get into the business.
With TT1 & MorroW at the driving desk i expect nothing but the best out of it, and the lineup is already pretty strong.
Is NaniWa going back to sweden ? I don't think MorroW will stop playing, we see coaches competing all the time.

It has probably been said before, but there was a joke about Morrow being sponsored by ICA and his new ID would be ICA.Morrow. This was during the Swedish broadcast of NärCon. I think that the joke itself came from an interview even before NärCon, but I heard it at that stream.

If you can't tell the difference between this, and something that could hugely tarnish an entire team. Especially with the way some people were actually believing it and E-sports communities reputation with pitchforks and sponsors....

When i saw this thread i thought; "so a big (partly?) swedish company desided to sponsor a swedish sc2 team, ehm, ok". If they actually were to sponsor these players they wouldnt need to put up with much (well, if naniwa actually were to join perhaps he would demand some though, despite his recent performances and given his mental condision (anyone remember the "congrats you play zerg" from just 1 week ago or so? :D)), so there isnt really much to loose for ICA anyways. Gaming is getting big in sweden, most young males are somewhat involved in some kind of gaming i think. Big companies do random commercial investments all the time, somtimes really bad ones. I didnt pay too much attention to the post itself (didnt read half of it) and figured it could just be some intial crappy post with some more serious version to follow, even though that doesnt make much sense. To be honest i mostly wrote the standard "oh cool, good luck" just so i could go on and rag about how possibly MaddeLisk could be on an A team when Jimpo is on a B team. So that is what caught me :D That could very well have been a trap set up by morrow!
However, since i dont pay too much attention to internet trolling i dont always assume things are jokes Sometimes even when something seems pretty strange. I am naive indeed.

It would be trolling if the intention was to actually make people believe this was true, anyone reading the OP in it's entirety will come to the conclusion that it's a joke. People who think this is real deserve to be called stupid for failing to see this, more likely they just skimmed through the op and jumped to conclusions but you deserve to be called stupid for that too.

And thumbs up to the guy mentioned that the B-team should be called ICA basic hah.
To those who thinks its offensive that ICAs commercial makes fun of mentally handicapped people, there was this huge debate when the first commercials arouse regarding the very same topic. Then one of the local newspapers got an interview with ICAjerry himself and let him shed his light on the matter.
Turns out he's a smart guy and very self conscious about the subliminal messages it might send out. However, he always wanted to be a comedian, and sees it this way. Now, no one (not even the Christian democratic party; sorry if I offended anyone) thinks about the commercials in a bad way. And he's a rather loved guy over here.
Don't quote me directly on the above paragraph however, that's how I remember it.

This post was not funny. The only reason anyone fell for that was because it was posted by a respected pro, if a no-name would have posted, noone would have believed it and the poster probably would have gotten a ban by now. Besides using a handicapped person for this is pretty offensive. I get it that the guy is well known in Sweden and everybody there will know it is in good spirit and all, but noone outside of Sweden (or who has read the last few pages of this thread) knows about that, so it appears pretty jerk-like using the picture for a joke. If a pro-gamer wants to use his credibility for "jokes" like this, go ahead, but I'd personally regard my image as something valuable if I were in the shoes of a progamer. w/e it's a free country.

I get it that the guy is well known in Sweden and everybody there will know it is in good spirit and all, but noone outside of Sweden (or who has read the last few pages of this thread) knows about that, so it appears pretty jerk-like using the picture for a joke. If a pro-gamer wants to use his credibility for "jokes" like this, go ahead, but I'd personally regard my image as something valuable if I were in the shoes of a progamer. w/e it's a free country.
remember the rules on this site says that pro gamers will be treated better and will get away with things the average poster wont.

So ACrow, whats wrong with handicapped/downs syndromed people now? They have the same worth as any of us, not more or less. There is definetly nothing offensive in using this guy in this pic.
FYI this is by far the most known commercial series in sweden. and if you use your head you can almost see that the pic is used for commercials.
