I think it's too early to decide, and we might need to retroactively change it. Why? Say we never see Bear again, then the title of UWC becomes meaningless, because it's impossible to defend the title if the guy never has to defend it. But there is a chance we might see him again, so for now, we allow Bear to keep the title. But if many months pass and the guy never plays another match, Bear effectively mauls the entire concept of UWC to death, and we would be better off starting a new one with the first HotS GSL champion. But we don't need to decide yet. That's a decision to be made months in the future.

if the UFC doesn't defend his title in a span of 4 weeks, the title goes to the previous UFC i think it's fair, and still make it unofficial enough to be fun, unlike giving it to a GSL champion

How long between games was it for Life during the offseason?

Personally I'm already plotting to set up a LAN tournament and have Bear play 1v6 vs the WW roster to claim the title.

Waiting for days, weeks, or even months for a title defense is part of the fun with unofficial world champion.

The GSL season lasts about 8 weeks (starting with the Up/Downs) which is a reasonable length of time (and was Wax's suggestion). And that is a lower bound on the length of time for a defence, assuming the title is won/defended just before the start of a GSL season. I think 4 weeks is a bit too short though (sorry doudou). I just hope GSL don't do another rushed season like season 5 of last year :p

That rule does not make sense unless a player retires. In which case, a restart is sensible. If Bear really does not play at all, we can just restart a HoTS UWC based on the 1st GSL. If we just get rid of Bear, and he plays again, one could just continue this UWC as well. And we'd have the ad hoc UWC and the original UWC.
