He's leaving for the Mill house soon and won't be participating in GSL any longer.

ForGG just took "Mill" off his stream name. The plot thickens.

I think this is a Korean thing; Nexon does this in their Maplestory related announcements as well I've noticed...

Still has Millenium overlay though, I wouldn't read into it.

top korean far outclass top foreigners?
while huk was in korea he kept up.
naniwa went toe to toe with drg. reaching top 8 2x in a row I think?
stephano just 4 2 mc, 4 0 alicia and consistently beats top koreans...

Throw his career away? You kidding right Forgg will start to attend all the international tournaments and get alot of exposure. Also he gets to travel all around the world meeting new people, new fans etc. This is the best thing that could happend to Forgg.

I expect more and more Koreans will start forcusing on the international scene rather then the Korean scene. MMA just stated he wants to move to a foreign team

I'm not kidding, I think ForGG is good enough to be in a Korean team and be sent to international events.

I just don't think that Koreans benefit from the way foreign teams are less strict (Look at Complexity's Koreans) and I don't want to see him fall off but I was mostly referring to the fact that he's joined a relatively lackluster euro team which has rumors of losing their best player when his contract ends.

Plus no-one knows the reasoning behind the MMA fiasco yet so we can't assume any reasoning as to why he wants to move to a foreign team when he could easily move to another Korean one.

Only the tip top Euros can really consistently challenge top Koreans. Huk has fallen off for a while now. Naniwa and Stephano are probably the only ones I can think of that compete at a Code S level time and time again.

its a societal thing. NA hates gamers still. europe more accepting.
dont forget stephano is american.

& foreigners are foreigners. foreigners beat koreans somewhat often. didn't sheth reach ro16 code a?
its not right to say foreigners can't keep up, then revert and day americans cant. they will in time. once eg starts acting professional instead of frat house

I can't help but feel a little bit of contempt for these players. I cannot help but think that they took the "coward's way out" when it comes to being a pro-gamer in Korea. It seems to me that they only care about money and less about skill, so instead of sticking to it when things get rough, they flee to their foreign team houses in hopes that they can win foreign tournaments and get more money. Honestly, it's not a bad choice, however, a lot of times, korean pro-gamer career decisions are very uninformed and irrational. (I can really only think of two, maybe three korean players that have actually gotten better when joining a foreign team) Basically, they see an opportunity where they can slack and choose to slack instead of sticking to the rough times, but in the end, slacking will not improve one's success. (which I can't really fault them for, but it is a little bit disappointing to see) I guess we'll just have to see how this will turn out for them, as ganzi and forgg are probably going to forfeit the rest of their GSL matches and drop to code b. As ex-bw pros, I would've expected both these players to be a little more rigid when it comes to pro-gaming in Korea, but I guess they only care about results, at this point, as they are getting ready to go to the army.

"international scene"? As if it's so prestigious. Apparently they aim for some little easy money before becoming completely washed-out. And it's not that easy with dudes like DRG boarding planes so often.

foreigners beat koreans in tournaments

as in mainly just stephano, mma saying he wants to join a foreign team is him just lashing out, any sensible foreign team would not actually offer him a contract based on his skill level right now, publicity? sure but not because he will crank out the results

look at all the koreans that have gone west to live there, Sleep Rain Dragon the other X6 korean zerg (can't remember his name right now) they've all dropped off hardcore, why? because the west isn't Korea

Also Code A is pretty low priority compared to Code S

On the other hand, if viOlet can still manage to stomp people while living in the US, I'm sure other Koreans will be fine if they still maintain their practice schedule with good practice partners. (And ofc you mentioned Stephano.)

In the end, it'll really be up to the player and his own dedication. We'll see what happens.

Also, MMA, even in a slump, is still a heavy contender for Code S. This without mentioning his added name value; he's one of the most marketable Korean SC2 pros out there.

"relatively lackluster euro team" Wtf? You know nothing about Millinium. Millinium the team and there site is the biggest esport newslets in french. Its also one of the richest teams in the scene!. And they one of the few foriegn teams that got a pro house. But the most important thing is Millinium is a talent factory. They produced amasing players like Huk,Stephano,Feast.

Dragon has also begun to show massive improvements and I expect Forgg with his work ethic to be a powerhouse in EU soon. This is the best move Forgg could have done for himself.

You know nothing about Millinium and reading you other comments it seems you know nothing about the european pro scene aswell.

You mean being able to attend to foreign events and not be stuck in GSL code A ?

It's funny how people underestimate Millenium both as a team and a business. They are the biggest esport website in europe, one of the wealthier team and have a huge following crowd in France.

Dragon is improving lately.

This is actually country relevant, while in certain country gaming might be more accepted in society, it is not the case everywhere. In France for example it is absolutely not, mentioning your passion for videogame makes you struggle in highschool social life, or to get girls for example, the opinion that gaming is a nerdy activity for social loser is really strong in french people.
