Bomber and Parting have been to a lot of the Redbull training or w/e right? Kinda expected this cuz ST players were swigging Redbull a lot in GSL booths.
On July 06 2012 23:31 RyanRushia wrote: awesome for ST! Surprised there's no initial support for Squirtle though, seems more deserving of it than bomber as of late
I thought the same. But does squirtle stream? I know bomber runs a decently popular stream which may make him more marketable compared to squirtle, even though the latter has better results.
That could be the reason, but i don't know.
Edit: nvm squirtle streams too. And has more viewers as well. Now I have no idea :p
Bomber is a total boss and has been for a while. The 'what have you done for me lately' attitude in this community is so funny. Certain players get put on blast while other players skirt by on their reputation from a game no one even plays anymore.
Does this sponsorship also extend to their LoL team? Nevertheless, this is great news for all of Startale. It's a great SC2 team with great representation in many tournaments.
Holy fucking shit. Redbull is HUGE, HUGE; they are world famous and really rich and they sponsor Startale? Man if i was on that team right now I would feel like a fucking boss and be very very VERY happy...I'm so jealous.
What? did i miss something i thought bomber was going to retire... at least that was said a couple of weeks back so he keeps playing for the moment i asume?
Hopefully Bomber gets some big wins now (so far he only has MLG Raleigh) and PartinG can get his first big win (he's such a good player he deserves one by now...).
Awesome, Red Bull is a really awesome company and I've been excited to see and experience their enhanced movements into esports for some time now. Congrats to StarTale!
Reminds me of the F1 team uniform, looks awesome! And I'm glad that this will give more incentive for Korean teams to search for international sponsors which should promote more korean-foreign relationships.
IIRC, they refused to let SQ wear anything Red Bull on main stage and even gave them shit for the hats. But... that was also back when they "owned" every single MLG team as well.

This has been going on for a really long time, I remember seeing (I think) squirtle thank them in GSL interviews, unless they're now a title sponsor ala LG is to IM
- red bull will be paying for any expenses for tournaments overseas - both sc2 and lol teams will be sponsored, but their main focus is in supporting parting/squirtle/bomber - red bull established a korean hq in august last year, attempt to help strengthen their hold on the energy drink market (lots of competition in korea with hot6 now)

Congrats to StarTale! Does anybody know if this is for their sc2 division or is the LoL team included in this sponsorship? I saw the #sc2 in the tweet but was just wondering.

As a side note, I want Parting's shoes.
If they are focusing mostly on Parting/Bomber/Squirtle then I think they are sticking to the SC2 side of things for now. LoL is still relatively new and it usually takes some time for Red Bull to break into a video game by sponsoring players/teams.
Ah nvm read GTRs edit. That's interesting... although I think the extent of their sponsoring of LoL will mostly just be a custom redbull fridge constantly filled with redbulls.

Huge news for StarTale. Looking forward to seeing more of Bomber and Parting at foreign events. Always have a feeling that Parting is a very good Protoss player but hasn't got his chance to shine

idk if that pic makes it look more distinct or not... but holy shit does PartinG have some pianist fingers.
Yes, you can clearly see the image is "stretched depth-wise", don't know the proper name for it. (Not saying he hasn't got long fingers anyway, but it's amplified.)
I recall reading a tweet of Team MVP acquiring a new sponser some Lotte Chilsung thing, and now Startale has gotten a big sponsor as well! Really awesome news! :D

Chilsung is like the Korean sprite, and is made by Lotte, which is one of the huge Korean conglomerates.
I'm interested in what benefits the other ST players are getting from this because it seems like Red Bull is only really interested in the 3 big names on ST. I guess those 3 are getting travel and maybe money, but is the rest of the team just getting free Red Bull?

They are sponsoring the team and those 3 players. Team part includes probably player salaries, equipment, rent of the teamhouse etc so I think other players will also see some benefits.
i love the big-name sponsors being thrown around right now. i just hope it doesnt begin turning into a money grab as i remember reading a tweet from either FXO boss or the CEO of dreamhack (idr which off the top of my head) to be aware of the intentions of some companies offering sponsorships..

HUGE! can someone please tell them not to slouch, at least for promotional photos lol, just for 2 seconds! It would make pro-gaming look that much more professional.
I'm not sure to understand fully what "incentive" means as it is a word which does not have any accurate equivalent in French. I understand it means something like RedBull puts pressure into PartinG and Bomber and try to persuade them to achieve some goals, but which ones ? Is there some kind of goals-related contract between them and RB ?

In this context "incentive" means that if Bomber and Parting do well this year, they will get paid more. Incentive can mean "pressuring" someone to do something. But it is normally used to mean "encourage" in a positive sense.

cool thing! and red bull receiving so much love from the community. and money of course- after all we probably make up for 10-20 per cent of their profit :D

Think of it like a "bonus"
If they make it out of group stage they probably earn a small bonus, to the semis they probably get a little more of a bonus, finals is even more, and if they happen to win they get an even larger bonus. Repeating these results earns you even more... like a stackable bonus. It also has probably has different tiers based on viewer base. For example, winning GSL would probably earn them a larger bonus than winning something like MLG and MLG would earn you more than say a GESL type event.
Pretty big for StarTale. Red Bull do tend to have that 'Richard Branson' effect in that pretty much anything they touch turns to gold. Also I'm sure Squirtle will eventually receive personal sponsorship from them in time.

Yeah, I was going to ask; how big is this sponsorship compared to say the LG-IM sponsor? This is great news, so happy for ST. Just curious about how big Red Bull is in Korea.

I don't remember if the GSL player intros announced IM players as LG-IM or IM but they just announced ST hack as startale and not RedBull-Startale. Although it is possible that either
a) as it was announced today the player intros may be prerecorded and it was too late to change them b) player intros for IM aren't LG-IM c) Its not that big of a sponsor

This is great news for SC2, Red Bull sponsors sports all over. This feels like Esports gaining more recognition. Congratz to Startale and the 3 champs!
and so it began ... come on guys it was time for biiig sponsoring, sc1 teams switching focus on sc2 and soon we wont have monsjour J gsl's but again pepsi cola and co osl etc like it was in beginning on sc1 the shiny bright days begin

But this time the community can show more love to sponsors, like writing emails, tweets or liking them on their facebook site, which will result in longer sponsorship. I just hope the community is mature enough to recognize how much of a big deal this is. Show the sponsors your love. Right now, go and like Red-Bulls Facebook page and write them a comment, it will be rewarded sooner or later.
If I remember right they personally sponsored Bomber and were only sponsoring ST a little bit, now I am going to guess they are just giving them more money for a bigger logo and a few more incentives?

Bomber had the Redbull logo because Redbull Gaming decided to just sponsor Bomber as a solo player (exactly like Halo pro Walshy) Now they've taken the incentive to just sponsor the whole team :D Really happy for them

It's just great to see a company spend SO much of their revenue on advertising and their 'brand.' I don't watch F1 but my brother does and he loves it - It's amazing that they can be involved in so many sports (and e-sports!) and they always seem to have a positive impact. And the great thing is, all the advertising seems to work - Red Bull is about 3 times as expensive as the 'generic' brand energy drinks, but I'll only purchase it because I know some of that cash will go to helping teams like Startale.

its pretty incredible to see how much the energy drink companies sponsor. Red Bull, Monster, Rockstar and etc sponsor so many different athletes in normal sports, extreme sports, bands, racing, and now gaming. Its a lot of people who are able to do what they love because of those companies. Pretty awesome.
From now on, whenever a ST player will defeat an MVP player, I demand that they crush a can of Hot6ix and then point at their chests proudly. Same goes for the opposite side. Battle of the drinks.
