We are pleased to announce that Olav “Creolophus” Undheim will be returning to esports, after five years of retirement, as a strategy coach for the Starcraft 2-team.
Creolophus (born July 11, 1986) is a former Norwegian e-athletes who compete in WarCraft III professionally from 2005-2007. He is the only Norwegian to get first place in the e-sports Olympics also known as World Cyber Games (2007).
We're really pleased to have Creolophus join our Starcraft 2 roster as head strategy coach!
We will without a doubt benefit alot from his experience and knowledge, not only as a former professional player, but also for his insight in Starcraft 2.
We welcome you Creo, and we're glad to have you onboard!
This is sooo awesome :-) Creo was one of my most favorite players of all time and im happy to see him back in buisness. If not as a player, at least as a coach^^
Meh was really hyped when I read the title, creo is probably the most talented wc3-player of all time. Too bad he is only a coach on a smaller team and not a player. Well, at least he is back in the scene.
Reading this article after clicking on the headline has been an incredibly huge disappointment... For half a second, I truely believed that he was coming to compete again.
Still, let's look at the bright side of things, it is great that he is keeping in touch with the scene.

Okay, excuse me for my WC3 noobishness. Whereabouts in relation to Moon, Grubby and Lyn would you put him in terms of skill at WC3?
He was a very different case. Grubby and Moon have been dominating (with some ups and downs) for the whole existence of the W3 scene (or most of it). Creolophus was a young player who decided to take a year of break from studies (kinda like Stephano), got hired by the huge team 4K who also had Grubby and ToD. And during this year, he rose to the absolute top, being able to beat everyone constitently at the end of the year, making a good performance at the ESWC just before he stopped.
However, as he didn't have his major win, and had to stop after the year was over, he went to the WCG anyway, after having stopped playing for about 3 months, there he owned everyon and ultimately beat Sky to win the event. That was a pretty legendary run, given how beasty Sky was at the time.

He got 2nd at ESWC, which was pretty much the 2nd biggest tournament of the year, after WCG. I also remember Creo for never losing to Grubby after he joined 4k, going something like 5-0 in match scores in tournaments. He is also similar to Stephano in this way.
Oh and he + Grubby were an undefeated 2v2 team, with him playing NE and Grubby playing random.
Creos WCG run was easily one of the top 5 moments in WC3 history. In terms of where he would have fallen given an entire career of playing WC3, with a sample size like Moon, Grubby and Sky, it's very hard to say. He obviously showed he could compete with all of them, so I think in the end he would have been getting placed just behind them on GOAT lists. Personally, I think he would have ended up being right around the same area as ToD [slightly higher]
Good to see another WC3 pro back in the scene. I realize its in a different capacity than a player, but perhaps he will try that hat on as well. Here is to hoping.

Dude, are you streetwise from WC3?
EDIT: lol, probably not the same one, but I use to play with a guy who used that tag.

Edit: Oh, as strategy coach. That's kind of cool.
Head to head with grubby most of the time if I remember correctly.
To be fair, he only started beasting up after his transfer to 4K. His run in 2007 was insane; he essentially stopped Sky from completing a hat trick in WCG WC3 gold. Not to mention he beat Soju in Blizzcon just a couple of months before.
Yes, he has been playing quite a bit. He obviously has a good sense of the game and strategy's revolving SC2 as he is training high master - low GM players.

Im not 100% sure, but I heard someone say that Creo had actualy quit playing WC3 when he competed in blizzcon, and only started practicing again a week before the WCG qualifiers, after a 2months break or something. Is this true, or just a rumor?

Yes, it's true. He went slightly inactive prior to Blizzcon. He was going to quit after WCG whether he won or not.
Probably going to get warned for this post, but so worth it! One of the best warcraft 3 players imo wish he was playing but just being in the scene is good enough for me

it was sk.miou and he played sc2 in the beta and shortly afterwards. he qualified for the german eps, but didnt finish very high.
Now that's a nostalgic name! He was a big NE player back in my war3 days. He was consistently among the greats of war3 such as Moon, Grubby and Sky. I still remember his denial of Sky's 3rd straight WCG before retiring.
When you think about what he has done in such a short period of time it's insane. He wins WCG world finals and then blizzcon world finals when pretty much only grubby was the only foreinger doing everything then he juts decides to quit and go to school.
Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat ? Creo in sc2 ?????????? are you kidding me ? This is epic !! Creo was maybe the most talented guy ever been in esport. 4K.Creo !!!

To those concerned about his ability as a coach in SC2 - Even though he's been retired from professional gaming, he's obviously been playing quite a bit of SC2. So he got a deep understanding of the game and he is an awesome strategic! We have no doubt he will do excellent!
Many of Norway's highest master players are on NHC. Glad to see Creo putting in the effort. I hope that the addition of him as a coach can help the scene as a whole somehow (many of the Norwegian players are on NHC). Creo was very talented and achieved a lot in a short time frame, so maybe he knows a thing or two about how to improve quickly. With or without limited time. Norwegians rarely have time for games because they prioritize other things like school, friends, partying, women, killing polar bears, etc. So Creo joining NHC and teaching the players how to improve while still having time to kill polar bears will be very helpful for them!
I've considered trying to get a talk with successful ex-progamers and the likes about how they approached the game and what they did to achieve the things they did. Not to look for a magic fix, but for inspiration. Read up on different interviews instead. I hope the players at NHC take advantage of this opportunity to learn how to improve and how to look at the game. If they really want to improve that is (I mean no disrespect). Creo's perspective might be interesting, inspiring and useful.

And you know what? I bet you will soon, know why? Because Creo is coaching them :D Just wish EG had this idea >.> such a huge congrats to this team though, picking up a fan favorite for any position is a great way to get eyes on your team.
So epic when he beat Sky in a WCG final (if I'm not mistaken). I believe one of the games was on Twisted Meadows where I was sure he was screwed and still won (I believe Creo spawned bottom left, Sky top right).
~edit: omfg I have gosu memory, I found it on YouTube as well:

This guy was a genious in war3, it's like a Stephano.
Less practice then others but better results, arguably one of the best war3 players of all-time, in europe only grubby and Tod had "better" careers imo

Thanks for the kind words, Snute! We are definitely glad for having Creo onboard and have no doubt he will provide a huge amount of experience and knowledge to the table. Our players are also very excited about these news and looking forward to soak up as much information as possible! I'm positive they will soak up as much experience as humanly possible out of this and evolve to great heights!

you should get him to make some vods explaning his thought process etc, how to analyse replays and so on. Creo is one of the smartest players in e-sports and a ton of people could learn from him!
So has he actually been playing SC2? Whats his KR ladder rank? Just curious because to come out of retirement from WarCraft 3 to coach StarCraft 2 (which is a way different game) he would already have to have some amazing insight/knowledge of the game. Atleast that is what I would want if I am paying someone to coach my players.
Either way the best of luck to him, and the team! Hope they do well and we see the rise of a new foreign team ^^
i remember when he decided to just "come back" to WC3 and won WCG in 2007... always been a 4Kings fan glad to see he's involved... wish it was as a player though!
I am really disappointed after having read the title and then the actual post. Should maybe fix the title.
Regardless, hopefully this amounts to something, I wish him the best of luck and hopefully he can make a mark on the western scene in terms of coaching.
wow if Creo can transist his wc3 talent to sc2 he could kick ass... for me he was the most talented player of all time and it was sad to see him stop with esports just when he started to kick everyones ass..
Btw. cool picture from the PGL who they put on their site, on the picture u see SaSe, Grubby, Moon & Creo (and some other chinese/koreans) but all the Europeans now play SCII as it seems

Oh hell yes. The legend it back at last. Creo, along with Grubby and Moon are my most favorite WC3 players. Now seeing him in the SC2 scene is wonderful ^^

Rotterdam actually JUST told the story of him winning WCG with barley any practice after coming out of retirement, etc. ... talk about PERFECT timing
He probably did, because he was being tweeted last night with the return of Creo, and therefore was thinking about it :D I'm really stoked for this. I hope this brings out some good results for NHC, and contributes to a bigger esport scene in Norway, as well as Europe
Is any of you guys even in grandmaster? I think I know a lot of european players and I never heard of any of them.
Don't get me wrong, I wish your clan all the best, but this kinda feels like a pr-stunt to get a lesser known clan attention with a huge name like creo.
Yea we have 1 low grandmaster, the rest is high master players. As stated in an earlier post. Also, I've never stated us to be a well known clan. I'd say we're the around top 3 in Norway tho. Also he's a well known assosiate of some of our board members. So now that he's done with his degree he wants to get back involved in the e-sport scene, so why wouldn't he?
Is this the Night Elft player who retired for about a year and then came back like 1 month before WCG and beat Moon (I think it was Moon) in the finals?
So epic when he beat Sky in a WCG final (if I'm not mistaken). I believe one of the games was on Twisted Meadows where I was sure he was screwed and still won (I believe Creo spawned bottom left, Sky top right).

It's great just to have him back n the scene again, don't you think?

Maybe he eventually will think to himself "fuck it, I'll just show them how it's supposed to be done, and teach them that way". Then suddenly, he's back as a player. We'll see.
Still remember the WCG 2007 WC3 finals like it was yesterday.
Creo has his back against the wall, defending from inside his base against a tower push with Demon Hunter and Naga. Game looks like it is over, but the crowd knew if he could get level 6 on his DH it would be completely turned around. He buys a mana pot on his Naga, uses forked lightning on some peasants, his DH dings level 6, and the rest is history.
Atmosphere in the room was incredible!
WB CREO!
