Very true, BO1 , anything can happen.

Who do you think makes it out of Group D? I'm kinda assuming MC gets out, but he hasn't played the best recently. But other than MC, I cannot pick someone... Maybe Seed? Or forever Code S Virus?

Virus and Seed are my picks for that.

I'm thinking

Group A: Nestea + JYP
Group B Maru + Bomber
Group C Jjakji + Polt
Group D Virus + Seed
Group E MMA + Marineking

Hmmm. JYP's PvT vs Ghostking?
And Ryung TvT is still good, even though he got raped by Happy. Could beat Polt and Jjakji.
Virus did beat MC in RO32 Code S, but Seed over MC? I'd go with MC's PvP over Seed's.
Surprised you picked Maru over aLive. I picked ForGG along with Bomber but thats because I'm fan of ForGG. Realistically, I'd say Alive and Bomber. Would love to see Puzzle's A game though. (S game )
Other than that, I agree with you.

I'm counting on JYP being able to beat both Nestea and Curious and win the PvP to advance, most likely losing to ghostking.

Group B is a shot in the dark because like I posted earlier anyone could make it out.

Ryung could potentially make it out of Group C instead of one of the other players I listed, but I feel like Jjakji and Polt are much more rounded and will most likely both win against Suhoshin+Vines while Ryung might not.

For group D I feel like Virus is way way stronger than people give him credit for, he crushed it in the ro32 last season and I think he will make it back first in the group either 5-0 or 4-1. Picked Seed for the second slot purely because I think he's a really good player that not enough people give credit to.

Maybe it's time for GOM to drop the terms "Code S" and "Code A". They're all top players, and anyone of those can beat any other player in the GSL. It feels terrible when you're as good as any other player and being called a "Code A player".

Maybe they should up the production in Code A and try to get more fans/viewers to watch Code A. Seems like players are "forgotten" as Ganzi said when they drop to Code A. Live report threads also don't even make it to 80 pages most of the time while Code S groups almost always go over 100 pages.

Group A
GhostKing
July (BO1 + mindgames)

Group B
Maru
Curious (Patch)

Group C
VINES
jjakji? Polt? (Whoever is able to survive Ryung and VINES)

Group D
Tree, MC (Both players willing to roll the dice) (MC in particular is a master of mind games)

Group E
AcE (These ST Protoss players are just on the rise, and all of them including Naniwa are able to help each other improve immensly).
MMA? MKP? (Who is able to keep their composure?)

Also another factor is who Heart is able to take out with his 1-1-1s and 2 Barracks.
Throw on your favorite jacket and you're good to roll. Stroll through the trees and let your miseries go.

Isn't this up&down part of Season 3 since GOM changed the format.

Group A:

Could actually see JYP making it back to Code S with a terran lite group. That said I think it's likely to be Byun and NesTea, with Lure on upset watch.

Group B:

Oh wow, that's stacked to the rafters. Going out on a limb that Curious redeems himself, and aLive's TvT will carry him through the rest.

Group C:

Jjakji and Polt, doubly so if they can both beat Ryung. Vines as dark horse since he should be able to beat Ryung and Line so a win over one of the good Terrans would put him in a great position.

Group D:

More like Group Code A ¬_¬ Virus actually showed that he's pretty good recently so I think he can make it back out, and whoever performs better out of Seed and MC on the day.

Group E:

MMA and MKP, with BboongBboong biting at their heels and Killer's ability to either play awfully or well in massively varying fashion being the wildcard to disrupt things.

There are two pretty strong Protoss players in Group E and people STILL think MMA is going to get out? Thats going to be an uphill battle for him.

Ugh. Game 3 with the Ravens made me so sad. Bomber, play freaking straight. Don't all in and don't mass Ravens and you could have gotten into Code S straight.

Being placed into a group of death was his punishment for dicking around.

Up and downs is the most emotionally and mentally draining set of matches there is. Sometimes there's a bunch of good games, most of the time it's a complete slaughterhouse. We'll see who gets out.

So its easier for those two players.

By comparison: tell me who definitely won't advance from group b. Tell me who definitely will advance. IMO they're all really close in skill. Thus: group of death

Being close in skill does not make it a group of death. A group of death needs to not only be too close to call, it also needs to be filled with people that we would normally expect to make it out of their groups. A group with the 6 weakest players would not be a group of death, it'd be a "group of life" because they have suddenly and unexpectedly been given a realistic chance to advance.
