Thought a bit double edged sword. Why? It attracts new users too (who are totally welcome). But as it will take weeks to solve the new offsets, the MMR calculation results may be off at start. And some new users want everything to be spot on at start or they stop using the tool without realizing the results will be fixed when the offsets are known and after that it will be quite accurate. The old MMR tool users on the other hand likely have went through few of these data collection periods and know not to take the results too seriously before the new offsets are known.

News post regarding the new version of the tool was buried at the bottom of last page. You find quote from it below:
On May 18 2015 04:15 korona wrote: 2015-05-17: New version of MMR tool (v. 11.0) was released that requires manual installation - new server taken into use
As the old server for the MMR tool is not available anymore a new server had to be taken into use. Thus the new version of the tool requires manual installation.
Blizzard changed the league offsets at the start of the S22 (S2 / 2015). The new offsets and thresholds are not yet known. To be able to solve the offsets lots of data from the users is needed (usually takes weeks to collect enough). It is important that as many MMR tool users as possible would adopt the new version quickly (more users --> more data --> offsets solved faster). If you have friends who play SC2 and have used MMR tool in the past please remind them about the new version that requires manual installation and direct them to this thread. 2015-05-22: New version of MMR tool (v. 11.0.1) was released (requires manual installation for pre-v.11.0 users)
There was a typo in the WoL data upload URL and no WoL data was uploaded. Thus a new version was released to fix it. More information is available on the original post.
How to update (version number is shown at the top of the 'Main log' accessible via 'Log' button on upper tool bar):
- If you use version older than 11.0 you need to manually update the tool. Instructions are in the original post
- If you use version 11.0 or later then you can press the 'update' button on the upper toolbar of the MMR tool (restarting MMR tool is required after updating). Note that the version check is only done when you launch Sc2gears (update button appears if there is a new version)
Information regarding the v. 11.0 release:

Download link, installation instructions, change notes and related info can be found from the original post under same topic as this. Edit: I will be AFK from Saturday to mid next week. As the only change for this small patch (11.0.1) was the WoL upload URL (and version history) there should be no new issues with the new release. Hopefully no potentially already existing issues emerge.

Thanks for all your work Korona!
Just installed the new version - time to ladder

I just found the new version accidentally. New Server. Great!!!
I think you should really post about this on reddit and elsewhere. Everybody should find the new version.
If you worry about the new users, do it in a few weeks but don't forget it.
On the other hand: Don't you need new users to increase data input?

I was wondering why the automatic update function didnt work for quite some time, so i checked and voila. Maybe a reddit post as N_Wilson suggested would really be helpful.

Hey Korona
This is my record since the season roll. I upgraded to Version 11 manually the day you initially posted it on this forum. However, I just clicked the red 'update button' now and haven't played any new games since. Not sure if that means anything.
+ Show Spoiler +
Let me know if this tracking trend looks good for you. I had a good game about a week ago, but it made a huge jump in my MMR (it basically jumped from the plat line to the diamond line) so I removed that game. Just some feedback for you.
Also, the league offsets are still the same as of now.
Thanks for all that you do.

Also, the league offsets are still the same as of now. Thanks for all that you do. First the new S22 offsets are not yet known. It is very expected that S22 good games could make a spike into some direction as the results are not directly compatible with the pre-S22 games. Also there has been a new calibration phase where MMRs change much more quickly than typical average (~25 first matches). Thus you should not mark any 'good game' bad before the new offsets are known. These posts discuss the matter http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewpost.php?post_id=24265915 and http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewpost.php?post_id=24271368
The pre-S22 games will be moved to archive graph with the MMR tool version that will be published around time the offsets have been solved. And only S22 and newer games will remain in the graph. (have not started that work yet. Regarding data will wait a week or two before even trying to solve the offsets).
Edit: And the update button updated your tool from 11.0 to 11.0.1. Only difference between those is that with 11.0.1 also WoL data is uploaded (there was a typo in original WoL upload URL).
Edit 2: And if you want to restore your 'good game' you marked bad, I need to know your bnet nick and ID (can be handled via PMs).

If you worry about the new users, do it in a few weeks but don't forget it.
On the other hand: Don't you need new users to increase data input? Of course new users are welcome and may provide valuable data. Especially data from some leagues such as bronze and gm is lacking at the moment.
But problem with new users often is that they want everything to be spot on from the start. We can use the classic 80-20 rule when describing them.. 80% quits using the tool after few matches and only 20% sticks (note the true numbers will differ, but this gives some idea). Thus in the old data there was quite considerable amount of users who had played only few games and that data was often useless regarding offset calculations.
The more appropriate time for visibility campaign regarding the tool would be when the new offsets are published (and a tool version that archives pre-22 data).
This time the amount of users is slowly increasing, but most of the users are providing nice amounts of game data. At the moment the rate is some 200 to 300 HotS matches per day. That is considerably less than it was with the old server so likely quite many old users have missed the update or are not active with SC2 at the moment.
And some advertisement to those who have missed the update: --- The MMR tool has recently switched to a new server. The current version of the tool is 11.0.1. If you are using version that is older than 11.0 (version number is shown in the top of the man log) you need to do manual installation. After that the 'update' button can be used for future updates. Read details from the original post.

Alright thanks for the explanation. I'll PM you. I was aware that you were either just beginning or planning to analyze the new offsets. I saw you message last week about you being away due to holiday. Thanks.

I have a question about MMR and leagues.
I wanted to know the current points pool, so I clicked on the #100 player in my gold division. Turns out he is platinum. How can he be in my division if he is not there anymore ?
|
He could be platinum in wings of liberty and gold in heart of the swarm.
I have a error, the log says:
16:33:27 ERROR Game is set to BAD because of DB lock 16:33:27 Common reasons: ladder lock period, web profiles not updated to new season 16:33:27 Visit TL thread for more information!
I have no idea, I think it has been returning this error since yesterday or even before. If you need more information I'm here to answer it.

Thank you for informing (in future add also version numbers that can be found from the top of the main log. No need this time as the reason was found).
Something had gone wrong with the server. It had restored old files (MMR tool (empty package), DB file and version files). This means that if you had restarted sc2gears after that, it had downloaded the old DB that set matches 'bad' automatically. If you had pressed the update button it had downloaded an empty package --> nothing should have happened.
Now correct files have been restored to the server. Please restart sc2gears and it should download the correct current ones. If someone has problems after this please write a report into this thread.
-- Edit: The restore seems happened around 2015-05-29 23:49:00 CEST or slightly earlier. This means the server contained old files for ~19 hours before issue was fixed.

Hey Korona
I just wanted to give an update on the MMR for possible new league offsets. I just played a bunch of games and was promoted back to gold. I'll post the screen shots below (one of most recent 100 games and all games without autocorrect). Then I'll post my screen shot from a post back in late March when I was promoted to Platinum in S1.
New promotion from Silver to Gold: + Show Spoiler +
All games since I started using the tool (without Autocorrect): + Show Spoiler +
I want to note that regarding the recent PM's about my MMR graph, I think the autocorrect feature was changing the games. You mentioned that before and the behavior can be seen above.
Below is the S1 promotion from Gold to Plat for reference to compare the above graphs:

Sorry, if you want to see the full image, right click and select "Open image in new tab"
NEW S2 promotion back to Platinum:

Edit: sorry I forgot to upload only the graphs and cut out the rest of the screen shot :/
Edit2: If you want game numbers on the x axis or better screen shots I can provide them. Sorry for the large size images. I'm not sure how to upload them smaller.
Edit3: I was promoted to Platinum again. I added the image above.

Just a follow up because I found this post:
+ Show Spoiler +On June 13 2014 02:05 korona wrote: -- Notes regarding the new offsets:
Blizzard changed the offsets 1st of May. This was 21 days after the start of this season (S18). Last time they changed the offsets was 21 days after the start of last season in January. Thus one could expect that the next time Blizzard changes the offsets is 3 weeks after the start of next season. A log containing start dates for different seasons & offset change dates was added to the original post.
Do you think that it's possible Blizzard changed the offsets again 3 weeks after Season 2 start? If so, Season 2 started April 13. Offsets may have changed May 4th. I don't think that Blizzard would have changed the offsets if they did this soft reset of the league distributions.

I played about 20 games today and yesterday combined. I got 1 good game for calculating MMR. Why is it not working för me? One game worked, but 19 of them didnt work ![](/mirror/smilies/frown.gif)
I appreciate if someone can help me with this issue ![](/mirror/smilies/smile.gif)
Edit: Not sure when i last updated the files, but it was about 2 months ago or something like that. Is that the problem?

There was a major update nearly 1 month ago, which you should install (needs to be done manually). Just scroll up a bit and look for blue text.
Apart from that I think 1 good game out of 19 is not bad. I've had way longer "streaks" of bad games. It depends on several factors like your league, how close you are to league borders, your opponent's position in the league, how quickly your battle.net page is updated by Blizzard, etc.
Just update the tool and game on.

2015-06-21: New DB (v. 22.2) for start of ladder lock period published
Ladder lock period is supposed to start at midnight (local time for each server). Thus I released a new DB that locks the data (no new good games possible). Please restart sc2gears at latest when your server is locked to download the new DB. If you are using old version of the tool (older than 11.0) you need to update the tool manually to download the new DB (instructions are available onoriginal post).
If everything goes ok, I will publish a new DB on Mon/Tue that unlocks the data (sets maximum bonus point pools). Thought Blizzard has had problems during last 2 ladder lock periods so we will have to wait and see.
I have not yet analyzed the uploaded data to solve new offsets. But will do it in couple weeks (offsets for lowest leagues will likely be rough due minimal data). I already wrote archiving code for the old data for next version of the tool (not yet tested). The new version will be published at the same time as offsets.

Bonus pool is still increasing for all servers based on the web profiles. It might be that web profiles are suffering from display bug. Have not rechecked the in-game profiles. The DB remains locked but I will monitor the situation if it changes.
Edit: 2015:06-24: Blizzard seems to have fixed the display bug on web profiles. I will update the DB at the evening. Thought for master league it may be that there will be 1 or 2 bonus points error margin regarding the max pool as people were not directly put to master league after placement matches.
