The release of the beta for WoL began 17th February of 2010 and lasted to 27th of July (release date). If we apply the same time frame for public beta testing for HotS as WoL we will see the release somewhere around 17th November if the the beta is playable from around the 27th of June. wikipedia source

Is this possible?

That's possible, but this beta might be a bit shorter. Maybe..on second thought...it's Blizzard so no :p

I'll find it interesting how the pro-gamers are going to approach this beta. If they don't play the beta at all, they might be behind when HOTS hits, on the other hand. They might practice not as much on WOL tournaments and that's also a problem.

I think so far we just know that Zerg is a more completed race now. Cannot wait to see what blizz do to other 2 races.

Same mechanics, same strategery. It'll probably take a few days to catch up most of the way with people who have been playing a lot, but a high-masters player without access will still maul a low-masters who has been playing almost entirely on HoTS for a long time, given a little time to familiarize himself.

I'm hoping that their new involvement with Kespa and OGN will allow them to have a greater amount of pro koreans to pull from to make sure that KR is behind this new iteration of sc2 (the COO of blizzard hinted at this with the interview that wax did a few days ago), I'm really trying to be optimistic about the new face blizzard is trying to show to the korean scene. Also, for people complaining about not enough or too much change, we haven't even seen any HOTS information for like half a year, the first new information will probably be MLG. It might be completely different from what we expect!
