I find Xigua's responses interesting. He was by far the most competitive and devoted to his craft. No wonder he's the best in China.
Thanks for posting this, and congrats on having fun in China.

Didn't know that TH000 - the best Human in WC 3 from 2010-2011 - is teamless and salaryless. How WC 3 has fallen... It's the end of the line.

TH000 was released last week from Tyloo, which I think only retained Infi and Jim on their RTS squad (War3 + SC2). Everyone else was dropped. TH000 doesn't seem to have much of an interest in any other games as far as I can tell. There is talk about how it's not just War3 doing bad, but the entire RTS genre in China atm. PanDa is also having issues paying player salaries, and they couldn't pay Lyn this month, I think, but he's doing private talks with them to sort it out. Some drama involving Efeng (guy in charge of PanDa) too, which ties into the salary issue.

Sky's still playing War3 and dabbling in DotA and SC2 on the side. Not sure what he wants to do, but he's been doing game commentaries lately on his youku channel, but mainly for War3 games ...

I think there will be two more big War3 tourneys this year (StarsWar + G-League) and some smaller cups. No idea about next year.

I was enjoying your interviews until you make this remark

Broodwar legends like Flash and Jaedong will likely soon switch to StarCraft 2

Do you really think that Flash and Jaedong will switch to SC2 soon? Maybe in 10 years, but definitely not soon. BW is stil established in Korea whether you like it or not. No A-teamer has switched to SC2 yet. July, Nada? Even MVP was a B-teamer for Woongjin. The only thing I know about him is that he took 1 game of Flash. Nestea was an old 2v2 player and Zerg coach for KT. BW A-teamers will not switch soon, mind you and your fantasies.

This post is just pure awesome. Thank you!
I watched the NSL stream and was surprised by the production quality. Better than GSL if I do say so myself.

You may have missed recent news, esports media in Korea have said that this OSL will be the last for BW and that the next proleague will be the that will feature bw (and that it will feature bw alongside sc2) and then after that Proleague will switch to sc2 only. Flash and Jaedong will either switch to sc2 soon or not pursue a career as bw progamers since bw is most likely in its last year right now.

a picture just found in the forum of NeoTV.
The guy standing is the caster Xiaose, and the guy sitting in red is Chinese former SC/BW progamer Lx (Luo Xian).

Their conversation is like this:

Lx -- I can tell your poor understanding of the game from the NSL VODs.
Xiaose -- You crossed the line. Let's play this Saturday. "IQ Cup"

MVP was an A-teamer, actually ... maybe you mean to say he wasn't S/A-class (v. true).

Yes I have, and I am still skeptical of the BW/SC2 merger if it will happen at all. We still have another PL Season after Finals this weekend, and who ever said the OSL was the last one? These are just rumor anyways.

Few BW A-teamers have already confirmed that they are practicing sc2 (Horang 2 and Bogus), dont think they would be playing sc2 if it wasn't for that very reason.

I watched this tournament for a few days, and I wasn't impressed by most the players. Especially loner considering his history and him saying he trains on KR ladder. But if what they say is true about practicing 10 hours a day, then hopefully the Chinese will improve very quickly.

I think most would rather just retire and go do their military service than play SC2.

The rumors are more realistic than your estimation that Flash and JD will switch to SC2 in 10 years.
