here we are all talking about it.. bad publicity = good publicity I never understood that.... such a flawed way of thinking. Why stigmatize yourself right off the bat as a joke team?

We contacted our players and staff with this crazy idea, and I can assure you their opinions were just as mixed as yours. Some found the idea brilliant, others thought we were just crazy. They told us we were going to burn ourselves and them at the same time. After long, in-depth discussions we decided to go for it. Our common motivation was to quash the accusation of being a “fake team”, and what better way to do that than to laugh about it on the only day of the year when it’s allowed. Returning to the controversy, there are no problems whatsoever. Welmu will be at the Copenhagen Games at our expense, Dayshi has indeed received his computer in near record time, just 7 days after signing, and all our players and staff feel very comfortable in the organisation. We may be new arrivals in e-sports but we are a company that has been thriving on the internet for more than 7 years now, and our players and staff appreciate the professional infrastructure we have in place: a lawyer to answer any questions about contracts, a department that presents the business plan to our players, they are not in the dark and can plan their careers entirely around the time they commit to the game. No more questions day after day about whether they can live on the money from their stream, slaves to the fickleness of fame. Our players can focus fully on their play, free of financial worries. Beyond our explanations we want to sincerely apologise to those who believed the original story and felt bad for our players! We have work to do to catch up, but let the Eclypsia adventure begin! Our website has launched Our site is online in French and English. This is the launch version and will be constantly improved with new features and content. www.eclypsia.com New players have arrived Several new faces from Starcraft 2 and League of Legends join us for the official launch. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Skyyart is a top solo player in League of Legends. He left Sypher to join us and reunite with his old teammate ShLaYa. Skyyard won the Asus RoG tournament at Paris Games Week and had strong results at IEM New York (3rd place). The Zerg Lair’s shoutcaster commentating on our English WebTV ![]() ![]() Two Tournaments (Starcraft 2 and League of Legends) each with a 2000 euro prize pool Eclypsia will organise two tournaments (Starcraft 2 and League of Legends) commencing on April 18th. They will each have a 2000 euro prize pool. Payment of cashprizes is guaranteed within 30 days after the final! More information will be released very soon, including the teams that will be participating. A gaming house in Brussels Our players are going to live in Brussels, capital of Belgium and center of the European Union. The opening will take place in about a month. Have a good day everybody! We love you! P.S : Our players wanted to say a few words about the April Fools Dayshi: I loved participating in this diabolical plan. Thanks to everyone who supports me and I apologise for having so much fun tricking you! Pouilleux : April 1st required a little joke from Eclypsia. Don’t worry, this organisation keeps its promises and looks very exciting. In a week we’ll meet the French public at Gamers Assembly ! If you don’t see us there check out eclypsia.com, this is going to be one of the great stories in e-sports. ELVIS: That was fun. I put some doubts in peoples minds by continuing to stream on Eclypsia TV. Sorry to all those who asked me for information and who I didn’t reply to, I couldn’t upset the plan! ShLaYa: The principle is simply Machiavellian! From a seed of genius! It was a pleasure to participate indirectly and to watch it play out . SLoG : It’s great to be part of the team. The April Fools was funny until everyone started sending me messages in private that I had to ignore (sorry guys!) desRow: I’m really pleased to join a new team. I can already tell you that they will be sending me to the MLG Fall Championship. I will also be streaming from time to time on Eclypsia TV. Follow me on the social networking sites. Thanks to all my fans who have supported me since early 2011. Artist : I’ve finally found a team after a long time, and I’m not going to waste anybodies time! I will give my very best. Our SC2 Team: Jo " ![]() Pierre " ![]() Antoine " ![]() Antoine " ![]() Marc-Olivier " ![]() Vesa " ![]() Andrew " ![]() Facebook : http://www.facebook.com/EclypsiaCOM Twitter : https://twitter.com/#!/EclypsiaCOM Website : http://www.eclypsia.com It was blatantly obvious especially with the Verdi ordeal and this kind of humor is right up Slog's alley.

I don't think this is that bad. I mean, next time someone comes forward with something like this, they'll get asked if it's an april's fool joke. I can see how that will be annoying, but no big deal, really. I saw loads of April Fools today that were just as bad if not worse than teenage pregnancy, some1 with a stroke etc. I guess different people draw the line at different levels, which is also why some people are okay with this and some aren't.

A random post from an unknown player on a super obscure team and everyone starts jumping to radical conclusions with no hard facts at all. Troll the idiots and watch them freak out. Well done. Yeah I'd have to agree with this lol, people WANT it to be the worst, therefore they won't think logically. Why the hell would Welmu happen to post it on the 1st of April, and his whole team happens to respond to it within an hour, and then there were posts such as these from the managers that just made it blatantly obvious: Taip To be honest, I'm very disappointed. Eclypsia contacted me at the beginning of March to manage their team. Now I'm listed as a coach, they've recruited other managers, and I don't have a fucking clue what's going on. I didn't get any of the salary I was promised either and I can't reach any of their staff on skype, this is a really sad situation. BLAST.Mgk's reply Taip, you just say shit ! I became manager because I was better. Nevertheless, I don't have any news of the staff too, but it's the week-end... Just eat french fries Taip, thank you.

What the people who rage at the whole thing don't realize is: Now you have heard about Eclypsia. Before that you didn't. And a random "NEW PRO TEAM RISING OMG" post would have made less people aware of their existance than this. tl;dr: Profit.

People keep bringing up the saying "all publicity is good publicity". How about another saying "first impressions are everything"? Sometimes I have to wonder how much business experience some of the people on TL actually have(I'm going with very little). How often do you see something that sheds a big company, organization, some(I guess) celebrities in a negative light and they just sit back and go fuck yea ! we're getting publicity ! people think we're shit but at least they know about us ! No, what happens the vast majority of the time is their PR/marketing team springs into action to mitigate the damage to their credibility and reputation. Even better if they can manage to spin it around into something positive. They don't pay those people out of the goodness of their hearts.

I know about them now, but I will not be supporting them, where as I would have before if they had just been announced normally. This example of bad pr is bad pr Edit: I'm honestly shocked about how little some people here seem to know about business and marketing in general

I personally don't mind the ballsy prank, even though it really bordered poor taste.
