I was kind of hoping they would change up the venues this year instead of going to the same ones they did last year =(

Columbus is just far enough away from chicago for me not to go (since im a poor college kid)
I like..

Spring Arena 1 seems very stupid to me, also MKP the Champion should have auto invite for next Championship pool imo. o.O

But lets se.

It's probably cheaper if the Arena1 is held in Seoul.
:-)

And all the circlejerk seeding/inviting is really not appealing, but thats personal taste.

Also, LOL @treehugger <3

Seeding is lame, this MLG at least saw a few new faces break through which makes it way more interesting.

Can't wait for HotS beta at Anaheim!

Yeah, Spring Arena 1 seems a bit lame.
They should rather get new players in and they can still hold only the Ro8 live in NYC.

The season kicks off March 30-April 15 with the MLG Spring Regional Open Online Qualifiers. 128 players will compete in each region (NA/KR/EU). For the first time, we've worked closely with Blizzard to invite top Battle.net players to participate in one of our competitions. The Top 32 from each of the NA and EU Blizzard Grandmaster ladders will be invited to compete, and anyone else can register for the remaining spots. The Top 8 players from the Open Online Qualifiers will go on to compete in the Invite-Only Online Qualifiers later in the season. Registration will begin later this week, so check the site for details. These qualifiers will not be broadcast.

So will all those other players such as Koreans/Europeans who are in the top 32 GM on NA be included in the invites for the NA qualifier?

"The Top 4 (from arena 1) will get direct seeding into Arena 2"
"12 players from Arena 2, in addition to the Top 4 from Arena 1"

If there is overlap do they take the next people from the arena 2?

I'll totally be attending the Spring Championship. I'm looking forward to whatever you're hinting at MLG. All of this sounds real good.

Last time it was just NA/EU/KR for the qualifiers. SEA is too small I guess.

This is such a convoluted system .______.

How do you register or where can you (I'm assuming that will be announced) and does it cost anything?

My guess at the model:

$10 each event, $15 for both

Sundance said in the interview with Kennigit that it was important to him that there were opportunities for "European and South East Asian players". So it doesn't look like there's much for SEA, but he does actually acknowledge we exist, so hopefully we see more SEA players in the invite-only Korean qualifiers, and maybe eventually a spot just for SEA.

MKP for the MLG all-kill this year #1 :D
For Arena 1, I actually really want to see a round-robin format. Three days, 8 players.
Then playoffs:
#4 vs #3
winner vs #2
winner vs #1
