Interview
+ Show Spoiler +
MarineKingPrime, as MVP of Team Prime

Q: You ended the match with an all-kill today.
A: When we were 0:2 down, I was sent to snipe San. But somehow, I just played and played and got the all-kill. I'm not sure how I did it. Even now, I still can't believe it.

Q: At 0:2 down, you seemed to be sent in earlier than expected.
A: Actually, there were two players after me who were prepared to come on. One of them is Creator. The other one is Byun. With these two dependable players as back-up, I didn't feel much stress when I was sent to play. Because of this faith in each other, I was able to achieve results that were better than expected.

Q: When was the point where you thought you could all-kill?
A: When I defeated Jjakji, I felt that our team was at an advantage. Then afterwards, when I defeated Sage, I started feeling that the games were going really smoothly for me. It was like everything I did was successful. When I went into the last game, I thought that if I could maintain the momentum I had, I would be able to get the all-kill.

Q: In the five games that you played, which was the easiest game, and which was the hardest game?
A: The easiest game was the one against Seal. My initial 2-barracks pressure was very effective and put me ahead. I thought our openings put us in an even situation. Never expected to take the game with that. (T/N: Italicised part might not be 100% accurate.)

The hardest game was the one against Jjakji. After our openings, I was quite behind, but the banshees paid off to some extent and helped me gain back some ground. After much effort, the game dragged on to a base race, and I won that with much difficulty.

Q: Was your nuclear missile in game 7 a celebration/ceremony?
A: After holding my opponent's void ray all-in, I just thought that I would win. I also guessed that because my opponent was so behind, he would not make many observers. Even though there were some thoughts of it being a celebration/ceremony, it was also the best way to make sure that I took the game.
(T/N: We really need a word for this celebration/ceremony thing. Celebramony? )

Q: Before this, you were at 4 wins and 9 losses in GSTL, putting you at a 30% win ratio.
A: I am the type of player who just can't play well under stress. That's why I tend to fall apart at big stages such as the finals.

It was the same in GSTL. Because there was this huge pressure of being the team ace, I wasn't able to play to the best of my abilities. But nowadays, the team is growing really fast, and the players are really strong. There are many other good players as back-up apart from me, so I am able to go into the game now with a more relaxed mindset.

Q: For you personally, this is your first all-kill in GSTL.
A: I've always wanted to get an all-kill in GSTL, and I also thought that I would be able to get one. Even though I managed to get an all-kill today, there were no such thoughts in my mind as I came to the studio today, none at all.

Because I was eliminated from GSL recently, I felt really tired and never really practised properly. For today's tournament, there were many other players other than me who practised more sufficiently than me, so I really did not expect to get the all-kill. Maybe it's this relaxed mindset that allowed me to perform extraordinarily well.

Q: Who do you want to face in the winner's match? Startale or IM?
A: Even though I mentioned in a previous interview that Startale would be an easier team to play against as compared to IM, they have been a team that's constantly improving ever since the team was created. IM is still the strongest now. Anyway, no matter who we play against, it'll be an exciting and interesting match.

That said, I still wish to avoid IM, which has the player I fear most, Mvp. So I wish to play against Startale. I know Bomber really well too, and I want the two of us, the two players who have gotten all-kills before, to have a game against each other.

Q: Unfortunately, your team only managed to get the runner-up spot last season. Are you confident of winning this season?
A: Last season, even we did not think that our standard was good enough for us to reach the finals. It was pretty much a miracle. Also, we only managed to make it to the finals because at some point, some designated players at some particular occasions managed to play extraordinarily well. This season, I hope we don't have to stumble and struggle through the tournament like that, but rather, advance through the tournament based on our skills, so people can see that we are the strongest.

Q: When you were eliminated in GSL Code S round of 16, you looked really sad and downcast.
A: I was really sad. I really prepared a lot, but I still lost to DongRaeGu. It really made me very annoyed and upset. The final match against Genius was not unwinnable either, but because there was the burden and stress of it being the final match, I ended up falling apart. TvP was my most confident match-up, but I still lost. It makes me really disappointed.

I will be attending MLG, and I hope that I will be able to show at MLG my skills that I wasn't able to show at GSL.

Q: Any last things to add?
A: Actually, Byun was supposed to play his comeback game today. He's been reflecting a lot during this period of time. He is a core player of our team, and also the strongest player. Even though he wasn't able to play today, I hope people can continue supporting him and looking forward to when he plays.

Tt eSPORTS sponsored a lot of equipment for us to use, and it's all really good and nice to use. Also, OCZ Technology gave all of us SSDs. The computer specifications for our team are generally not too good, but with all these, it's a great help to our practice.

Slightly off-topic: Pictures of Prime vs. NSHoseo can be found here - http://game.163.com/photoview/2IIQ0031/34239.html
Pictures of MVP vs. FXO can be found here - http://game.163.com/photoview/2IIQ0031/34240.html
It's a Chinese site though, but I would think looking at the pictures is a pretty straight forward process.

Pretty sure that isn't a tiger zerker.

Interesting that Byun is considered the strongest player in the team - we could see a comeback from him soon.

Thanks for doing these WierdKid, I was wondering - Was there not a Korean interview for Prime vs. Liquid? Would be very interested in reading that as well

Thanks again

Well Byun was really damn good at the end of his time on zenex but drawing Oz in code A turned out to be the worst luck in the world.

Wouldn't be surprised, he had the rank 1 and 2 spots on Korean GM on two seperate accounts not too long ago, both with a 80% win rate.

Is that match in IPL? I'm not sure if they have the winner's interview for that. If they do have it though, it's probably with IPL I guess. I only know where I can find GSTL and GSL winner interviews.

Byun's been pretty high on the ladder consistently with multiple accounts.

I know this is sort of off-topic and I apologize, but in the pictures linked for the MVP vs. FXO match, there are pictures of NaDa in the MVP jacket and he's even in their team photo.. Did he join MVP/CoL ? I didn't see any announcement of it anywhere :o

He joined Complexity recently. Complexity recently recruited 3 new players, announced over 3 days. First guy announced was Nada, next guy is heart, third one yet to be announced I think.

It's pretty scary how good Prime is. Bumblebee, Bboongboong, Maru, and Creator are all good enough to make Code S next season, and possibly their best player overall, Byun, hasn't even been able to play due to the stupid Coca drama. Pretty impressive that Prime has actually gotten stronger after losing their first/second (Polt alongside MarineKing as the best two), third (HongUn), fourth (Anypro) and potentially fifth (Check) best players in a matter of months. They've really changed the whole team dynamic and have even stronger younger players to fill the gaps of the old Prime team.

I really hope Byun can get back to Code S.

HongUn, Anypro, and Check all really seemed like older, one dimensional players who never really seemed to be interested in changing up their playstyle to adapt to changing conditions and to ultimately improve.

Maru, Creator, Bboong2, Byun on the other hand are younger, and recent performances seem to show that they've really adapted and improved along with the current state of players in Korea. In fact all of them really have shown so much potential in their play (Maru just yesterday with his KSL performance.

It's a refreshing thing to see and I kinda feel in maybe 4 months to a year, Prime could really come out as one of the top teams due to these aforementioned players.

Good interview. Everything worked out really well for MKP that night. Great that MKP got the all-kill, but it would have been cool to see Byun play his return game.
