Because it's not only about skill, but about fan favorites. If you want the best players, vote accordingly ![]() As I see it now, a bunch of German fanboys (including me) want to see aTn compete, and a bundle of stephano fanboys want to see Mill play. Thus, the viewers of the tournament will probably increase, if the most voted team participates (e.g. french or german who have a lot of solid fans). That's why there is a vote and not an invite for the best team. see? everything makes sense from all perspectives.

But why would you want to see the foreign teams play when you could also see leenock come in and all kill just about every team that will be in the tournament? Meh, I guess people care more about popularity and hyped players than skill and seeing the highest level of games.

Meh, I guess people care more about popularity and hyped players than skill and seeing the highest level of games. That's your point of view and I respect it. Still, there's a different (apparantly a pretty popular) opinion. And people with that opinion would ask you, why you wouldn't cheer for your country and hope that it does well? If I want to see the highest level of games, I watch GSTL. Here, I want to see my favorite players to compete and not the best. And maybe get to see the occasional upset. Again, your opinion is valid, but this here is democratic and people want to see Mill or aTn.

I suppose you have a point, maybe I'm spoiled by the fact that my favorite non korean players (eg) are already in the tournament, and maybe I should be happy that by not voting in fxo their chance of winning is much higher.

Meh, I guess people care more about popularity and hyped players than skill and seeing the highest level of games. Why do soccer fans watch any other league besides the premier league or primera division? Why do thousands of basketball fans go to german events every weekend, when the level of play isn´t even comparable to the NBA? The answer is simple. People like to cheer for homegrown talents, because they can relate to them. This can be by nationality for example or other things. The reason, why Alternate is leading is simple. DF, Socke and Delphi do a lot for the german community (e.g. SC2-Podcast) and their Team manager is one of the most famous esport personalities worldwide. A guy, who took a major financial risk to bring us probably the most unique tournament in the calender. So the german community is giving those guys something back.
