Having more NA teams compared to EU makes it harder for the NA teams to compete.

NA-Teams:
Vile, Light, Check-6, Reign, vvv = 5

EU-Teams:
aTn, Mill, Acer, imba, aaa = 5

Dream Team Gaming is korean and FXO is australian.

you clearly forgot that Korean and Australia are a part of NA...

Sorry, like you said, I clearly forgot about that obvious fact. So we have 5 EU- and 7 NA-Teams. So we should use a factor of 5/7 for the EU-Votes to make it fair: aTn: 1348 * 5/7 = 963. Vile: 778 * 1= 778.

Actually i'm pretty sure aTn voters are most likely german only :D

I'm Canadian, and I voted for aTn.
Socke+ClouD= Awesomeness

DarKFoRcE and Delphi and especially Delphi is getting very strong lately.

Voted, but I would have for Team Grubby... not on the list *sigh*

hmm, I only really cared about the EG master's cup becuase they offered something unique in the 2v2 games. It was the only reason I watched the Vods. Disapointed.

I'm wondering this myself, I mean just leennock alone has enough skill to completely overshaddow every other team that's on the poll.

Because it's not only about skill, but about fan favorites. If you want the best players, vote accordingly

As I see it now, a bunch of German fanboys (including me) want to see aTn compete, and a bundle of stephano fanboys want to see Mill play.

Thus, the viewers of the tournament will probably increase, if the most voted team participates (e.g. french or german who have a lot of solid fans). That's why there is a vote and not an invite for the best team.

see? everything makes sense from all perspectives.

But why would you want to see the foreign teams play when you could also see leenock come in and all kill just about every team that will be in the tournament? Meh, I guess people care more about popularity and hyped players than skill and seeing the highest level of games.

Where is ESC? No league, cup or tournament is complete without the king himself, Goody.

Voted for Team Vile. Reign would have been my second choice. Both of them are up and coming teams that seem to have some pretty good potential and it would be cool to see what they can do.

That's your point of view and I respect it. Still, there's a different (apparantly a pretty popular) opinion. And people with that opinion would ask you, why you wouldn't cheer for your country and hope that it does well? If I want to see the highest level of games, I watch GSTL. Here, I want to see my favorite players to compete and not the best. And maybe get to see the occasional upset.

Again, your opinion is valid, but this here is democratic and people want to see Mill or aTn.

Kind of wish that there was a qualifier instead of a popularity contest. 6 out of 8 teams returning, 5 more invited and 1 picked by the community. I think that newer teams should have more chances to get their names out.

Anyway, gl to the league, hope it does well! Will tune in, loved the casting last season!

I suppose you have a point, maybe I'm spoiled by the fact that my favorite non korean players (eg) are already in the tournament, and maybe I should be happy that by not voting in fxo their chance of winning is much higher.

Why do soccer fans watch any other league besides the premier league or primera division? Why do thousands of basketball fans go to german events every weekend, when the level of play isn´t even comparable to the NBA?

The answer is simple. People like to cheer for homegrown talents, because they can relate to them. This can be by nationality for example or other things.

The reason, why Alternate is leading is simple. DF, Socke and Delphi do a lot for the german community (e.g. SC2-Podcast) and their Team manager is one of the most famous esport personalities worldwide. A guy, who took a major financial risk to bring us probably the most unique tournament in the calender. So the german community is giving those guys something back.

I know why Liquid's not on the list (though the absence is still ridiculously conspicuous), but why not Quantic?
