He's just going through a bit of a mid-life crisis right now. D:

He six pooled vs. Huk or something in the last game of the tournament (so he was second place). I think he was a beta/early-GSL player too.
Haven't heard or seen anything of him since, but he was good back then. I've watched a few WC3 games with him, and (although I know nothing about WC3) he seemed baller. Look forward to seeing more of him.
Glad to see Fnatic has a new well-known player after Sen and Fenix left. Nonono he fake expand and then allined with banes and lings i believe. Of course that was cleverly countered by huk not seeing the expand and thinking Moon was going to one base all-in from the beginning. A classic. Amazing pick-up, real hope to see him shine. Ooh, I remember that game too! I lol'd so hard when that happened. Thanks to Elem and zAins for more info as well. So he wasn't playing full-time and he got second in Dreamhack. That's unbelievable. On the other hand, skill in one game doesn't necessarily translate to uber success in another. Like I was ranked B in iCCup (same as Huk I do believe), and I'm a diamond toss while he's... Huk. That said, winning Dreamhack does say something. i thought BW is harder than SC2 O_O
Handling is a bit clunkier and more imprecise so you need to know building/ unit placement and pathing a bit better, but its not too bad. Then again, I played BW for like 5 years. Once you get the basics of that down, you just have to learn build orders and how to react to different situations. Its just practice, just like anything else.
I'll skip my rant about SC2 vs. BW.

Sick, sick pickup
Considering Moon is already known to be an absolute monster in pratice and has a huuge fanbase cos of WC3 I really wonder how Fnatic could get him. Lots of money involved most probably :O

So excited! I really hope Moon does well!

It was Moon's first time against Naniwa and he didn't know naniwa's gameplay
Moon didn't play bad, his unit composition was just out of date and failed ( Naniwa said in interview he was comfortable against that unit composition and it was old )
So Moon learned Naniwa's gameplay after that game and beat naniwa at dreamhack.
You can also see how good he corrected his mistakes and abusing naniwa's shakura turtling style ( during that time )

Wasnt one game. I watched him the whole tournament because of all his hype. He let me down. And yeah, what protoss wasnt comfortable vs roach ling 25mins into the game with no Hive. Dude didnt just play bad. He looked bad. Sorry you guys clearly cant understand that.

This is a very good decision considering Moon becomes one of the best players in the world when he plays outside of Korea.

Did you watch any of his other games other than that one tourney? Maybe how he absolutely destroyed everyone but MKP at PPSL? Or the Chinese tourney where he smashed everyone but Loner? I don't know how you can call Moon bad.. he's posted better results in the last year than several entire clans... while also practicing WC3 as his main game.

First of all Colombus was a long time ago. Up until recently he split his attention between 2 games, with more focus on WC3. There's also a well documented difference between being dominant in practice and being dominant during a tournament setting. Maybe he choked that day from a combination of pressure and lack of preparation.
At the end of the day I dont think anyone will try to argue that he looked amazing losing to Naniwa 0-2 but its hard to deny his potential. I'm not going to go off his reputation alone and say hes the next big thing but I'm not going to count him out either, especially given his resume of hard work and dedication.

Best of luck with Fnatic, Moon! I really think that Moon will be a big opportunity for Fnatic to begin the new year strong!
|
Can't wait to see what this legend is capable of now that hes only playing one game.
|
Even in that MLG moon beat Fenix, Drewbie, Sjow, July and lost 2-1 to MC and finished 8th.
edit; Also is there any other pro player with a pro player in their fan club?
|
Moon has a fun to watch style in sc2. Hopefully he can back up his crazy strategies with some solid skill and make his way into the gsl.
|
moon is the reason i got into esports. If he can do in sc2 a quarter of what he did in wc3 i will be a happy panda.
|
There is no doubt that Moon is sick player and I really believe he will bring good result to Fnatic. But with his legendary esports career in his past, Fnatic must've promissed him a lot of money. I am not sure Fnatic has budget to do such move, since they were cutting their own players recently. Anyway, good luck to Moon and Fnatic!

Moon always has pretty awesome showings at foreigner tournaments. I dunno why people are arguing whether he is good enough. He is good enough to actually get to the final stages of tournaments and thats more than many other pros can claim
|
I never watched WC3 so I used to not comprehend some of the hype surrounding him in SC2. Then I saw him beat some pretty good players while playing only part time and I was sold, though still waiting. FYI saw him beat MC in China on retarded close pos Metal and another game that I can't remember.
