There was something magical about the BlizzCup finals that made it the best we had ever seen in a professional Starcraft II Tournament. Arguably the previous GSL final of Jjakji vs Leenock had better overall play and unit control. However, what set BlizzCup apart was the backdrop story between the two players: Dongraegu and MMA. The following story book was inspired by Lady Slayers Jessica interview at Media Day 2011.[1] In writing this work, I hope to inspire more storyline coverage by the producers of StarCraft tournaments everywhere. Because in the end, it is the stories that stick with us.
Disclaimer:
This story book is based loosely on facts, but is a totally fictional portrayal of its real life counter parts. It is not the author's intent to offend any party as this work was mainly conceived for entertainment and comical mischief.
Starcraft II Story Book: DRG and MMA
Gather around boys and girls, I will tell you a story about two princes who's fates were intertwined in the year of 2011.
Early in the history of Starcraft II, the emperor of the old world of Starcraft I, Boxer, set out to form a new nation called Slayers. He wanted Slayers to be built around strong warriors. Ones who could withstand the test of time and the might of the meta-game. The emperor searched far and wide to find talent... And when his search ended, the emperor, Slayers`Boxer, found not one, but two young men who were leagues beyond their peers.
The emperor adopted these two young men, and made them princes. Prince MMA was from the city of Incheon. He was a brilliant tactician but was often overlooked as a soldier due to a knee injury he had sustained since childhood. The emperor saw potential in him, and brought him to the palace.
The second prince was Dongraegu (DRG), whom the emperor found in a small town in northern Busan. He had a reputation of being a fearsome warrior, although one who is rash and without discipline. Emperor Boxer saw talent in him, and brought him to the palace as well.
The perfect royal family
Emperor Slayers`Boxer wanted to build his new kingdom from the strength and talent of his adopted sons: DRG and MMA. Along with his wife, Empress consort Slayers Jessica, the Emperor worked tirelessly to bring life to his dream. And for a time, everything was perfect.
...But discord grew behind what seemed to be a flawless royal family. MMA progressed greatly as a warrior and strategist, by doing so, earned great favor from the Emperor. DRG, in contrast, showed little improvement. As he watched everyone cheer MMA on, DRG felt he had been left behind, always second, always in MMA's shadow.
DRG grew bored of the court, he had but one friend....Genius
Genius made the best bulgogi in the world, which he would share with DRG. The two grew very close.
One stormy night, DRG decided to leave the royal palace. Here was not a place he could grow as a person nor as a warrior. He felt suffocated under the success of MMA. Genius followed him.
DRG traveled far and wide to find himself. Many newly-formed nations approached him as his talent was widespread. But he turned them all down....all but one.
DRG went missing for along time. The Slayers royal court was very worried. When news came that DRG had re-emerged...but in an opposing country. The Emperor and Lady Jessica wept.
How could DRG have betrayed them? How could he join an opposing army without giving reason why. Frustrated by his brother's behavior, MMA swore to Lady Jessica that he would find DRG and bring him back. MMA then set out to conquer the lands to restore honor to the Slayers imperial court.
The might of MMA and the Slayers army was feared by many. They had conquered many lands, including Zotac Team Invitaitonal Season 2 and GSTL March of 2011.
DRG, on the other hand, did not appear for a long time. Rumors had it that he was secretly learning the dark arts of ZvT behind closed doors.
When MMA and DRG finally met again on the battlefields of GSTL May 2011, DRG was already in full control of the MVP's army. DRG was their flagship, their supreme leader. He had attained everything he did not have while he was with the Slayers royal court.
Each time they met in battle, MMA would call out to DRG, demanding why he left Slayers for another nation. And with each, DRG replied coldly.
Finally, at the bloody battle of Blizzard Cup, at the end of the era in 2011, MMA defeated DRG in a duel that would last 7 days. On the last day, DRG finally revealed the truth to MMA and Slayers, that he could not remain with Slayers as MMA's lesser brother.
Defeated, DRG withdrew his armies back to the land of MVP. Slayers_MMA did not give chase. He knew things would be futile between them, DRG would never be persuaded.
MMA returned to his homeland a champion....
....but with a heavy burden in his heart. The quest he set out to do for lady Jessica...was never fulfilled.
All that MMA was certain was that DRG had become incredibly powerful and was a worthy adversary to the nation of Slayers. MMA had best be on his guard, for next they meet, MMA could lose if he was not prepared.
Epilogue
Suffering a heavy defeat from MMA and Slayers, DRG and the MVP army withdrew to recover their loses at the end of 2011. By the start of 2012, DRG would begin his campaign against the land of Kong. Within five days, the kingdom of Kong fell to the might of DRG. He would become its one true ruler. And for a time, everything was at peace. But DRG knows, the wars to be waged in 2012 had only just begun. He will meet MMA again in battle one day...and he will be ready.

User 'neoghaleon55' has posted this on TL. What a nice tribut to one of the finest finals in 2011, and in the short history of Starcraft II. A great reading.
Genius or crazy, i dont know. The pic of DRG with dual swords looks really awesome but I can't unsee mma with boobs, i'll have some nightmares tonight thank to that post.
Well done! Quite entertaining and definitely made me laugh XD. Yeah, genius was a bit disturbing haha. But the Royal family picture was so awesome haha
This is quite hilarious. Someone should really translate this for MMA or DRG and then post their response, if they have one. It would be interesting...
What a great fckin story book haha, really though this was done really well. Made me laugh a few times and helped me to take my mind of work for a bit lol. Sick job!!!!!!!!! <3
Not to go too off topic or anything, but MMA's quest for the return of DRG strangely reminds me of Naruto's quest to bring back Sasuke.... just saying.
That was great. My favourite part was when the bandwidth was exceeded, and the twist ending where photobucket asks you to upgrade to pro today. Classic.
Well written! 6* I think that the knee thing was a Skyrim joke or a reference to the fact that MMA was actually discharged from the army due to an injury. Not sure if it was exactly in the knee; I'm pretty sure it was though.
I can't tell if this is creepy or incredible (miracle) genius. Either way you are a true nerd baller and deserve to be commended for such an awesome story.
Sir...... If you replaced the Sc2 names with real names, and all the sc2 stuff with more battle ye olde stuff, you would have a marketable book right there! Of course its way more fun with MMA and DRG

DRG was hesitant to be a pro player, he wanted to be a student. But MVP coach poached him by saying that if the starcraft career doesn't work out, the coach will pay for his education. Kind of a too good to refuse offer.
After reading this, the only thing I know for sure is that I am going to the Asian chain of restaurants and ordering some Bulgogi. Whatever that is, I want some!

I thought this was freaking brilliant you did an excellent job of picking pictures of the players with great expressions. I hope to see more in the future!
Hope to see MMA DRG finals this GSL again!!! :D But there'll probably be at least a P in the finals since they're doing so well..... while Z looks so weak atm and DRG is in such a difficult group.....
