Kong means second place basically, so this is a tournament with only second-place players in SC2

they are all players that lost in gsl finals, and haven't won any gsl final
|
Also if it does turn out to be DRG and MKP are the strongest in this tourny, I hope they will face each other in the finals. Facing earlier would be disappointing xD
Edit: OOPS didn't see Leenock in there. He is definitely the best in there xD

Nice that GOM uses Cloud Kingdom and that new Metropolis map for this! >)

Missing Ganzi... And YellOw...

Grrr, this is AOL1 all over again. <$4k prizepool with $5 HD pass.

Hm I guess it's only the major events (GSL) so no AoL for ganzi and yellow hasn't placed 2nd in a sc2 tourny.
I just noticed another thing. Group players get 200,000 won, which is 170 (or 200 to be simple) dollars. 2nd place gets 220,000 won, wtf lol? First place gets 2,220,000 won.
So much emphasis on first place.
Oh wait I just noticed. 2 = 2nd place. LOL
Also why is there entombed valley? Is it for lulz, testing, or because they think it's better than Arid Plateau? A combination perhaps?
This will be an interesting tourny xD

Pardon my ignorance but I don't get the kong reference. How does that relate to players being runner-ups?

Yes but why the word kong?

2nd should pay out more in this tournament:D

Wasn't that cloud map the one that won the TL contest? I find it rather surprising yet amazing that they choose to use that for an "official" tournament.

Sorry I'm not an expert at the subject, but it has to do with that Kong Dance video that is linked in the OP.
I think it goes something like this.
There's this song where there's this "kong dance", and YellOw was seen doing it once. So people started calling him a kong, and "kong line" started being used for other players who got only second place(s), and I think that refers to the dance too? (dancers lining up).
Something like that xD

It's called kong dance because yellow danced it, not the other way around. There should be a good post that explains it on tl somewhere.

Well Cloud Kingdom has been in the map pool for the ESV weeklies for a while, so Koreans have already been exposed to it anyway, meaning they are actually probably going to be quite comfortable with it (since someone on their team will have already played on it most likely). GOM and ESV have also already co-operated through the Code A spot awarded to the winner of the ESV monthly final a couple of months ago, so it's not a massive surprise that the winner of the TL map contest, which has already been used in Korea, and is made by some people who have contact with GOM has made it into a (smaller) competition. It is nice to see though.

Kong is a nickname of yellow, it's bean in korean i think (given to him because of his short stature). So when he did the dance, they called it kong dance

I just noticed ANOTHER THING LOL! MR CHAE YOU ARE AWESOME (i'm guessing these "easter eggs" are mostly/mainly his...)
The reason why the prizes are 2,220,000 and 220,000 and 200,000 instead of all just 2,222,222 / 222,222 / 222,222
Is because the total amounts to 4,040,000
= 404 error "not found"
So I guess it refers to the silliness of the event, basically xD and there's other more specific ways you could interpret it as.

Ah, thanks xD. Was/is he really that short? Seems like he should have stopped growing at that time. When I see him in pictures and videos he seems average for a male o.o

Awesomeness :D
I hope for TOP vs MKP finals with MKP loosing ! Muahahaha :D Not that I'm a big TOP fan or that I don't like MKP, I would just find it extra hillarious :D
