The two comments above me summarize well what I think. Khaldor tends to overcriticize or overpraise, and there are people who dislike one or the other. But I guess it's tough to find the right balance. Personally, I just don't like how he criticizes minor mechanical mistakes (like some forgotten drop or mutas that fly by a little too many marines or something like that). Players play at a very fast rate, yet they can't control everything, so just point out the fact ("Looks like he forgot this drop at the top-right of the map") and leave it at that, instead of going ("That shouldn't happen, it's horrible") like the guy above me said. Decision making mistakes, that you should notice, however you must take into account that players don't have as much information as you. But generally Khaldor handles them pretty well I think Please no race bias (like saying "Oh, it's disgusting!" when a Terran drops all his mules in his last expand in a very close long TvZ), but I think he improved on that a bit.
Overall Khaldor's casting is pretty good, but paired with the right person (Wolfdor is cool, Moldor is...awful).
Edit: I have no problem with the accent, his english is very good

Khaldor, Your casting was very rough when you first got there, but I think as you settle into the routine of things, you've gotten much better. You and wolf seem to have some decent report lately and I see you continually getting better.
When you started, I'd have voted no, I think I am just recently moving from the 'average' to liking your style so keep doing what you're already doing, it's getting better and better.

You're a great caster, Khaldor :D, the only thing I'd say though is you might focus a little too much on statistics, which, as the "guy with the knowledge aka Artosis" role it seems like you're filling that does make sense, but sometimes hearing, "Player A has X% win-rate vs this race on this map and Player B has Y% win-rate vs this race on this map" over and over gets a little annoying, same with your emphasis on resources lost and so on.
Statistics definitely have their place in commentating, especially in the "Artosis role" but I think maybe you overemphasise it a little. Otherwise, a great pleasure to listen to you cast

Khaldor, you are an average caster. One criticism I do have is when you show very heavy favoritism towards one player (GSL code S groups Hero vs Maru), and as a result these emotions blind and dilute your analysis. If you were to stay unbiased as possible (though not completely because everyone has favorite players) you would be able to see why a certain player won instead of claiming they won because "they are a protoss killer" or something like that. Also, when Wolf makes a point, sometimes you repeat it word for word after saying "in addition," which is repetitive.
Otherwise, keep up the good work.

Im sorry Khaldor, for a German your Genglish is pretty good, but... take this as constructive criticism:
When you are casting, every other sentence contains the word "PROBLEM". Im completely annoyed by it, especially after noticing in last nights IPL4 games. (For example Nestea - Alive G1 or Squirtle - MMA G2) "His big problem this... ", "The main problem that", "One of the problems for Nestea is". Etc. You are so overusing it, even when there are better subsitutes, try to use different wording.
Also, what I always notice in your casts is that you don't know the difference between the verbs 'dying' and 'destroying'. Very often buildings are dying according to you.
You might think Im nitpicking, but Im sure many people do notice but nobody is telling you.
Edit: oh I forgot, apart from this your casting is pretty decent!

Khaldor is a baller. GREAT JOB @ IPL.
|
Doing good work at IPL but he must rest his throat..
|
Doing a good job but he needs some rest since he was sick recently. I can hear the strain in his voice...
|
Please stop saying things like "it's impossible for player X to win at this point". Thanks.

I have to say Khaldor, you do a much better job of casting when you are sick. Try to emulate your performance at IPL4 at GOM.

i think this is because GSL spoils people.
you expect so much from GSL casters, that you are overly critical in general. but when you put them right after another random pair of casters, you actually see how Fing GOOD these guys that you usually critize are.
it was similiar for me, when i would turn on GSL i would think Wolf and Khal are kinda monotonous, but last night i actually went "yeeeey finally" when i saw those two up there.
it so funny how our brains work
anyhows, keep it up guys, great work and you deserve to be where you are.

No it's more to do with the fact that with Khaldor being sick he lacked the energy to start shouting incoherent English in a failed attempt to sound exciting. His words per minute were also greatly slowed which prevented him from repeating and stumbling over his words.

You were a bit rough in the start yes, but I really feel even though you may not have the most knowledge of the game out of all casters I still like your casting, you should know that I really dont like 90% of the casters either, so keep it up. Wolf + Khaldor = great
|
well you and wolf definitely talk about more interesting stuff during delays than other casters that weekend.
|
Watching you since 2006 and, although nothing can compare to the good old wc3 casts, I still like your casts.
I love to see your english improving, especially cause I am in a very similiar situation and facing the same problems. Its funny learning English coming from a German background. You don't realize how many subtle elements of the language you disturb(?) by using a German way of structuring your sentence. You seem pretty much past that level, but I like your attitude that you still want to improve. In the long run this will imho close or at least minimize the gap between you and native speakers.
I saw this really cool quiz app about collocations and phrases. That might be helpful. As far as I'm concerned your active vocabulary is great but one might discover a difference to native speakers
I'd love to see you making use of some German. Maybe not the cliché about the "PANZERGENERAL!!" but something like "Vorpsrung durch Technik" commenting on a Protoss Deathball or whatever. On a international level you're the only German, that might be useful/entertaining from time to time.
Keep it up, Khaldor!

Why he should saying if it's right? If the terran has 10 marines and zerg 50 broodlords what should he say? I like his style and I think some comments are really quite dumb.

Your english has improved so much!
Just 6 month ago I could barely listen to your cast without cringing, whenever you pronounced something with german accent.
Great Job @ IPL, Mr.Ladebalken on it's way, to become one of my favourite english casters aswell.

Hi Khaldor!
In general I am a huge fan of you and wolf's casting and especially your solo casting but sometimes when a battle starts or there is an intense fight happening, you turn on your "intense voice" or something and it is very uncomfortable to listen to, I realize that it is important to convey to the audience that what is happening is a big deal but perhaps there is another way to do it. or maybe it is just your accent and I am too picky. anyways, just a small bump in an otherwise great casting skillset!

Khaldor, your casting is outstanding and your English is great.. badass accent.. I seem to like accents in my casts.. which is why I like apollo and TB so much. PainUser is a very good native English caster.
Nice job soldiering it up for IPL4 though.. would be hard to pass up such a great casting experience.
Live Long and Prosper!!
