"Shit, I wanna win"
"Ok"

Still seems less offesive than knowingly hide it from everyone else, and making money in the process.

However, big shame that he made a misery out of his career of something so insignificant...

It was the ESWC qualifiers...

But 2 fan favourites playing, so most people won't care :p

So sad for Coca, he has so much talent

It was really stupid to do this, but the punishment is too harsh imo.

what exactly did demu/idra do wrong?
One of them had a ESWC spot already and then played in another ESWC qualifier and forfeited?
OH WAITIZZLE.

Maybe you should consider using your brain. From what I read in this thread SlayerSCoca already had Code S spot and GhostKingPrime needed Code A spot from the weekly or w/e.

OH WAITIZZLE. Some people these days. The number of tumours in my brain continues to grow...

LOL.
Do i need to draw diagrams for you to understand the most basic things?
And you somehow attack my intelligence? ;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;

Ahhh Coca and Byun are young guys, they just made a big mistake, I doubt they were barely thinking and were just having fun playing and stuff, and forgot how big the consequences their actions would have.

The punishment is good enough to get the message across, but I hope it doesn't become something extreme like Coca banned from ESPORTS a la Savior, mistakes happen.

It's sad for Coca. This to me looks like a decision he made there, right on the spot without thinking about the implications. As teenagers do.

why does anybody care if a player does this... If a player wants to throw a match that is their own decision.

The punition is way too harsh on Coca His career is now seriously compromised and I don't feel like it was THAT serious to begin with.

Both of them were being extremely naive and stupid, but its far from being a serious match-fixing (I mean, they didnt even tried to hide it...). They should be punished, but this is way too harsh.

People: look at the shit that went on with Brood War, a lot of which is still just coming to light.

We don't want that shit coming up again.

I feel bad for the two, but it had to be done. The message has to be sent that this shit won't be tolerated under any circumstance so we don't get actually huge scandals in the future.

What is the point of the ESV weekly thing other than Code A, and why are there Code S players in it? Isn't the prize like $100. I don't really watch but why are there some guys that get way more out of it than others? I mean in what world would you put $100 over your teammate getting the opportunity to get a code A spot? Of course if they are with their friends and teammates this kind of thing is going to happen, it's practically set up for it to happen when there is virtually no motivation for one player to win and he's expected to beat his friend/teammate.

It's like even SC2 matchfixing is a dumber version of the BW equivalent.

I couldn't agree more. This is nothing like serious match-fixing. They played out the games properly to their best ability and only changed results in a split second decision that they didn't even try to hide. The motivation wasn't money - it was helping a friend. The only reason this should be punished is because the overall popular view on this is so negative. This obviously should never happen in big tournaments, but the fact that some people here call for harsher punishments is rather silly.

However I am a man that has made more mistakes in my life then I care to admit. CoCa and Byun are both very young and I in no way feel this was a highly premeditated incident like the Savior incident. They deserve a second chance, but not one without punishment.

This is great. It's easy to forget that many of these guys are still kids.

So he can bet all is money against himself and throw the game...? Seems right.

This is not a little fun game or event match, it's a qualifier. There was money on the line. What about all those peoples that got eliminated by CoCa that could probably have won this thing otherwise? WHY IN THE HELL would you subscribe to a tournament if you would just throw it up if you were playing against a mate? What if all teams start doing that? It's just not fair for the others.

It's not a qualifier.
No one else got eliminated by Coca.
It was the first round of the tournament.
There's no money for anyone outside the top 4.

It's exactly what you said in your first sentence, they're ex-teammates and played together for months on Zenex. It was the very first round of the tournament and Coca decided he wanted to play the full bo3, sadly he lost the third game so everyone exploded now though -___-

hahaha come on Asha, he never wanted to win that g3 when he left g2 at 4base/180 vs 0base/45 supply, you really can't argue that :/

He played a straight up game, as did Byun (except arguably Byun giving Coca an extra chance by not punishing a miscmicro that let hellions into Coca's base). I doubt he cared too much about the results given tanking game 2, but he didn't just throw the third as well.

It does not matter. Throwing a match at the request of you opponent is bad and likely against the rules of any tournament. It is your decision to do so, but by doing so you risk being thrown out of the league. Anyone objecting to them being thrown out is just plain silly.

Welcome to the internet. This isn't the first time something like this has happened and it certainly won't be the last. Three months for now most people will have forgotten about this whole incident anyway.

I'm just correcting some of his terribly misinformed statements because the argueing with the wrong information is just silly.

I have no issue with ESV barring them from participation for a few months, it is ESV's tournament afterall and if they feel it damages the integrity of their event that is fine.

I do think there's been a spectacular overreaction though from other parties.
