So sad for Coca, he has so much talent

It was really stupid to do this, but the punishment is too harsh imo.

The last thing I expected when I clicked on the thread was to be given yet another reason to dislike EG but they somehow still pulled it off... Annoyed at Slayers too, although it looks like Boxer is taking it seriously and making an example out of Coca as a deterrent to everyone else.

Hopefully it was just between the two players and not coming down from the coaches. I personally think it was limited to the players though. Not because of the reaction from the team but because we've seen games at places like MLG with Boxer vs MMA or things like that. Boxer could have moved up to code S and still lost, so I think he's on the up-and-up.

And mistakes are punished. I'm pretty sure most korean teams would react in a similar fashion. They are very strict and don't allow BS, simple as that.

That's not punishment, that's called humiliation. If they think that what he did is very wrong, they should just part their ways with the player. That would be normal reaction. If they think it's a minor mistake, they could suspend him from team house for like a week and make him say sorry in public. Demoting him inside their team, kicking from the thouse and making him quit S (cmon, why would he himself do that, he was clearly told to do that by someone either from team or GSL staff)... he should just say fu to boxer, really.

I think no matter what happened there was no way he would have been able to continue to complete in code S this season the way Gom is taking it. It was smart of him to forfeit his code S spot.

Do you know korean culture? What Coca did was humiliating for the team and for Boxer. Koreans take that very seriously.

I prefer them keeping him and making him learn from his mistakes instead of kicking him out of the team as soon as he does something stupid.

what exactly did demu/idra do wrong?
One of them had a ESWC spot already and then played in another ESWC qualifier and forfeited?

Facts:
Both Byun and CoCa are entered by their respective teams to play in the ESV to which other amateur/professional teams also compete in weekly and monthly matchups.

The ESV has national TV syndication. Thus making the tournament serious buiness as teams attract and retain sponsors/advertisers/etc as a result of their team members (which conveinently has the sponsor's name/logo) weekly appearances despite the low prize pool. Anything that reduces the viewership thus harms everyone involved.

Byun and CoCa not only publicly and openly colluded to fix a match (in progress), they submitted the evidence for all to see.

Draw your own conclusions. _\o/_

Hmm, I was a huge fan of CoCa before, after this, not so much. Such a stupid thing to do, did they read Match-fixing for idiots or something?

F U to BoxeR?

..... There are so many things wrong with that one sentence already :[

anyways, CoCa has to be punished, he got punished. Sad to see him go from Code S but..... every action has a consequence :[

I guess this is what you would call setting an example. A harsh overreaction to a small crime to warn everyone about not even considering doing any sorts of matchfixing.

You guys have to take into account of the fact that the Korean e-sports scene is very sensitive to such stuff, especially after the Broodwar match-fixing scandal. Both of them were wrong IMO, it was a public, televised game and saying such stuff in chat is just blatantly asking for it.

I think they didn't mean to do much harm but it's still wrong. Hopefully they learn from the experience. They should already know better, though.

SlayerS are doing it for Coca's own good, teaching him a life lesson and keeping the team's integrity intact.. He's not off the team, just out of Code S and training by himself out of the team house for right now. Even if he didn't leave Code S, there's no way he would've been allowed to play tomorrow. I bet you GOM would've come to a decision much much quicker if that were the case and they would probably ban him for at least 2 seasons. By taking the initiative to forfeit his Code S spot, he's admitting his guilt and is saying he's sorry for it. GOM might see that as a good enough punishment and let him return without further punishment.

i can't believe they did this in a televised match. That would be even more stupid than this whole thing is. This is the cheapest and dumbest try of match fixing I've ever seen.
Match Fixing should be punished hard and it was in this case. These things ruin every competition. I hope both of them learned their lesson and we see them back in a couple of months or so.

Btw. I find incorrect too, to suspend the player from the team. It's a somehow foolish mistake and he payed for it by losing his code S spot, which also means a lot of money (we talk about several thousand dollars), and his possibility to participate in tournaments in the next months (which also means a lot of money for a high level player like CoCa). To isolate him from the rest of the team is very brutal in social aspects. It really shows that Slayers Team is a hell of a competition right now!
