Not surprised MVP is pissed. He was basically told the entire year that the #1 player at the end of the year in GSL points would be automatically in the Blizzard Cup finals and automatically getting the same amount even if he lost as the person whoever wins the new formatted Blizzard Cup. MVP, MC, etc. were always saying in their interviews all year how important it was to be atop the GSL rankings in December due to the extra perks of the Blizzard Cup. Now getting first in the GSL really isn't that big of an accomplishment, and even if he does win the tournament, he'll make half of the original prize for the winner.

- There will be 1 best of 7 matches a day

Don't remember too many specifics about the prize pool but the current blizzard cup is "only" 68,000,000 KRW and I'm almost certain the original one was at least or around 100,000,000 KRW.

they are certainly upset that the they fight the entire year to get into these places and now only top 3 can make it via the original system (base on GSL points for the year). not the mention the lower prize pool

Blizzard Cup (original prize pool)
10th place : 1,500,000won
9th place : 3,000,000won
8th place : 5,000,000won

Damn the new prize pool is less than half of the original. I guess GOM learned their lesson from the Super Tournament. That had an enormous prize pool but ultimately felt like just another GSL. Hopefully GOM allocates the money that was supposed to go to the Blizzard Cup into expanding the GSTL. Hopefully the lesser prize isn't because they're having financial difficulties.

The Korean community is very hostile against every Terran right now, because of the supposed imbalance, which is somewhat understandable.

But IMMVP is one of the few Terrans who really deserve to be there if you ask me.

This was the first time I ever had a Best of 5 go to the final game, so it was really fun.

WOW. Really? Never noticed that.

I knew MVP was a beast, but that's crazy O.O

Ganzi beat MVP before and Ganzi's TvT is shown to be good, i wonder if it will be Ganzi vs MMA. If not, then MVP vs MMA would be cool too. Ganzi vs Happy would also be interesting, as Happy is on MVP's team and lesser terran and Ganzi is on MMA's team but generally considered to be the lesser terran.

I don't mind TvT, as long as it has great TvT players like MMA MVP Bomber Ryung Ganzi etc.

Actually the reason would most likely be the flight costs/hotel fees for the foreign tournament winners cutting into the prize pool. Especially for the Europeans + Show Spoiler +
since Stephano lives in France and he won IPL3
It wouldn't make sense for a qualified player to the Blizzard cup to not have their expenses fully comp'd by Gom for them to come to Korea and play. There may be other factors involved as well, but covering the foreign players isn't free, the money has to come from somewhere.

Being called 'Blizzard Cup' to me sounds like Blizz would be footing a lot of the bill, otherwise wouldn't it be called some form of 'GSL....' tournament instead? Just seems weird that GOM would need to reduce the prize pool by so much.

Where does that even originate? He seems mannered, is probably the best player in the world atm and hardly cheeses and so on.

I dislike him because his style is so standard and he really doesn't make you want to root for him. That's just my opinion but a lot of people share it with me. Idk there is something more than skill that comes when rooting for a player, you need personality, emotion, and a storyline. In MVP's case he is like a bad tyrant and everyone wants their underdog rebel to overthrow him...

Take MarineKing, MMA, and even Boxer for example. They may not have as many titles as MVP, but they all show unique play and are really neat innovators making you want to root for them so you can see them happy.
