yeah it's not like Idra would tell someone to fuck off, and he'd never hate a teammate like huk, and he never ever forfeits a tournament after 1 loss! he is immaculate!
oh wait

Pretty happy to see roughly 90% of the community rally against Major here, condemning him for his unprofessional, childish, and frankly, unacceptable behaviour.
Sad and puzzled by the 10% defending him. :/

Oh please stop white-knighting under the "hurting esports" banner. The biggest company in the fastest growing sport on the planet is known for swearing non stop, bashing everyone, and generally being Dana White.

Do what? He "only" BM his opponents , some trash talking here and balance whining there. That's all pretty much. He (seem) to like his team and promote it (and sponsors) so Idk about comparing major to idra.
Idra's in-game BM is more passive -- e.g., doesn't say gg sometimes or quits when others wouldn't. Major (apparently) actively BMed -- cursing -- and even at his own teammate. And while behind the scenes Idra sort of admits that his on-stage BM (if you can call it that -- it's more like competitive banter) is to support his "bad boy" image (think pro wrestling), Major's seems simply ill-hearted.

I believe in the silent majority idea that both sides are at fault

First, I'll say that Major's behavior is inappropriate in its own right. I don't think any human should act like he has towards others.
Second, I think the UFC is a different culture. People punch and kick eachother in the face, so people understand that the BMing is just for show. Moreover, the UFC is just another form of competitive arena fighting, which has been around for millenia. Competitive fighting is well established and has long been accepted as a legitimate sport (think Roman gladiators).
Compare that to VIDEO GAMES on a COMPUTER -- most adults think this is the stuff of kids. The sport isn't close to accepted as legitimate. So to get it to that point, we have to present it as legitimate. Now, you're honestly going to tell me that if people see the headliners of esports cursing at eachother -- which is childish behavior -- they're going to take it more seriously than if players weren't cursing at eachother?
And let me just point out that you're SEVERELY wrong about whether Major's behavior re: not wearing his jersey will ruin esports. Esports's growth relies on advertising. Advertisers rely on players wearing their jerseys. The money stops if players don't follow through. If there's a flaw in this logic, please point it out.

let's not leave out of the picture that while Major was by far their best player, he didn't even get money for a ticket to korea, where as take a wild guess how much money Idra makes while he never gg's, tells 17 year old nice guys to fuck you at the end of a match, leaves the whole tournament after someone beat him in the 1st game, and honestly doesn't ever show significant results.

He told Huk to fuck off in game. And that was when Huk was not his team mate, I see what you did there, bringing things out of context, that's just very nice, very cute. Lets compare venting one's frustration in game to being a dick to your team and sponsors irl.

Where's the hate against Huk? As far as I know they're on pretty good terms with all those pictures from MLG recently.

Saying MMA is people just kicking and punching each other in the face is like saying Starcraft is just people pressing buttons a lot.
Also MMA is not accepted, even less so then E-Sports, there is still states (including New York) where it's actually ILLEGAL. The biggest hurdle that sport has had is convincing people that it's legit.
Major missing his jersey once does nothing to hurt e-sports. It just makes him even more unmarketable hurting himself, not e-sports.

i didn't say he did that to huk when they were on the same team. Idra now pretends to like huk because he has to. but guess how likely it is that all of a sudden now, after Idra laughing and hating on huk for a year he suddenly likes him when they're on the same team.
and funny that you say "sponsors" about sixjax, it's just not really fitting

he fucked himself out of that ticket by being stupid towards his own team. obviously no one knows the terms of the contract, but i feel a player should have to EARN their way to korea, even if they were promised a trip. if you're doing bad, not doing ur contractual obligations, why should the company still REWARD you with a trip to korea?
where as take a wild guess how much money Idra makes while he never gg's, tells 17 year old nice guys to fuck you at the end of a match, leaves the whole tournament after someone beat him in the 1st game
idra has been with EG for over a year, im sure he didnt ask for a raise TWO MONTHS into a FIFTEEN MONTH contract, when in those TWO MONTHS, the most he did was maybe doing ok at ONE mlg event
and honestly doesn't ever show significant results.
idra's shown more results than major at this point. sure, major's started way later than idra in sc2, but that doesn't mean idra's wins don't count.

I also like how some of the major defenders try to deflect the issue by pointing towards others, trying to steer the discussion away from major and his misbehaviour by mentioning other players with similar (though much less severe, obviously) issues.
Good job, guys. I'm sure major is thankful to have fans like you in his corner. No matter how much he fucks up, how much he hurts his team and their sponsors, you guys will be there to excuse his shitty behaviour.
