- You just made the code A finals. How do you feel?
I am so glad that I was able to accomplish my goal. I feel apart against broodlords in the 1st set. But after I took down the 2nd set I was able to calm myself and take the match.
- If you get to a 200 vs 200 population battle, isn’t the protoss usually favored?
When broodlords are in play, that rule goes out the window. If you don’t have void rays, even if you were the god of protoss, it becomes impossible to win. After I saw that he had broodlords with my observers, I was really worried.
- Does that mean you have to really watch out for broodlord timings?
During practice, I had a great feel for that tech switch which I used to my advantage, but today I was nervous and couldn’t really find that timing.
- It looked like you won the last game pretty easily.
During the 1st and 2nd set, I saw that since he was going for broodlord timings, his actual army was pretty weak. I checked out what he had with my DTs and took him down with a timing attack.
- Does that mean you successfully grasped his broodlord timing in the latter sets?
Yes. I thought that because of that I would win no matter what, especially if I could kill some infestors with my DTs.
- Your game on Terminus was the most overpowering.
I took note of Sage’s matches and copied some of his strategies. During practice, since my team is so used to it, I could hardly win with those strategies. But my team told me that it would work against any other player, so I used it today and it was effective.
- It looked like you were shaken up in the 4th set after his early spine crawler attack.
I had a strategy in mind, but that attack really threw me off. But it really helped me when I was able to see the mutas with my DTs. I also saw the roaches being upgraded so I knew that he would shift into roachs after the mutas as well. And afterwards I was able to win by just massing stalkers.
- You will be in code S right away with one more win.
I think I can do it no matter what. I will be facing either a protoss or a terran both of whom I am confident facing so I believe it is possible.
- You said both are fine, but which one do you want to face?
It is a best of 7 match, so facing a protoss might be too much of a mindgame. I think as long as Jjakji helps me practice, facing a terran would be easier.
- You have not gotten a chance to play in the GSTL.
4:1 seems to be the score of choice for our team. So if possible I want to be sent out second so that we can with a 4:1 score.
- Any last comments?
I really felt my teammates support through practice this time around. I was able to fix a lot of my smaller mistakes through advice and practice. I am really thankful to my team. SlayerS YuGiOh also told me the weakness of my style which helped me fix it. Thank you. After I get the prize money I will make sure to take out my teammates to eat, so I hope they can keep on helping me.

▼ 코드A 결승에 진출했다. 기분이 어떤가?
- 처음 목표했던 것을 이뤄 너무 좋다. 첫 번째판 무리군주에 어이없게 졌다. 2번째 판을 엘리 전전에 이기면서 마음을 다시 잡을 수 있었다.
▼ 보통 200 vs 200 싸움을 하면 토스가 유리하지 않나.
- 무리군주가 껴있으면 얘기가 달라진다. 공허포격기가 없으면 토스의 신이 와도 못 이긴다. 옵저버로 무리군주를 확인한 후 고민을 많이 했다.
▼ 그 말은 무리군주 타이밍이 관건이란 것인가.
- 연습 때 무리군주를 가는 타이밍을 잘 잡아서 이긴 경우도 있지만 오늘은 긴장 되서 그런지 그 타이밍을 잡진 못했다.
▼ 마지막 경기는 잘 잡은 것 같았다.
- 1, 2세트에서 무리군주를 가는 타이밍을 생각해보니 저그 병력이 어설펐다. 암흑기사로 정찰을 해본 결과 타이밍을 잡을 수 있었다.
▼ 이후 세트에선 무리군주 타이밍을 잡은 것인가.
- 그렇다. 무조건 이길 수 있다는 판단이었다. 감염충만 암흑기사로 잘 잡으면 뒤집을 수 있다고 생각했다.
▼ 3세트 종착역 경기가 가장 압도적이었다.
- 경철이 형의 경기를 보고 따라 한 것도 있다. 이런 류의 공격을 다 잘 막아 연습에선 한 판도 못 이겼다. 팀에선 '우리 팀에서만 이런 것이니 타 선수와 경기를 하면 필승할거다' 란 말을 듣고 사용했는데 정말 그대로 됐다.
▼ 4세트에선 초반 가시촉수 공격에 흔들리는 것 같았다.
- 하던 전략을 하려 했는데, 가시촉수 공격 때문에 꼬였다. 암흑기사로 뮤탈리스크를 본 게 큰 것 같다. 바퀴 소굴 업그레이드를 확인하면서 뮤탈리스크를 쓰면서 바퀴로 체제를 갈아탈 것을 알 수 있었다. 이후 추적자만 모으면서 경기를 가져갈 수 있었다.
▼ 한 번만 더 이기면 코드S 직행이다.
- 무조건 할 수 있다는 생각이다. 코드A 결승 가면 토스나 테란전에 자신 있기 때문에 가능하다고 본다.
▼ 둘 다 자신 있다고 했는데 누구와 결승을 하고 싶은가.
- 7전 4선승제이기 때문에 토스전이 너무 머리가 아플 것 같다. 우리 팀 '짝지' 정지훈 선수가 연습을 도와주면 테란전이 더 수월할 수 있을 것 같다.
▼ GSTL을 아직 출전하지 못했다.
- 4:1이 NS호서의 스코어구나란 생각이 들었다. 다음 번엔 기회가 된다면 꼭 차봉으로 출전해서 4:1로 승리를 안기고 싶다.
▼ 더 하고 싶은 말.
- 이번 연습을 하면서 팀원들의 도움이 중요하단 것을 느꼈다. 연습과 조언을 통해 놓칠 수 있던 부분을 잡을 수 있었다. 정말 고맙다. 슬레이어스의 정승일 선수가 내 스타일을 보고 단점을 집어주셨다. 감사드린다. 상금 나오면 팀원들에게 한 턱 쏠 테니 계속 잘 도와줬으면 좋겠다.

- You just made it to the code A finals. How do you feel?
I wasn’t in very good condition in the morning so I didn’t practice too much. I didn’t know I would get this kind of score, but either way, I am glad I won.
- What part of your body feels weak?
Every time before a tournament, my stomach feels pretty bad. Even during my match today, my stomach was feeling terrible. I think it is because I have been practicing non-stop and built up a lot of stress.
- Why have you been cramming practice so much?
Before a match, my focus for practice is different so I am able to cram in more practice. But it’s not like I don’t practice often regularly.
- Your opponent was IMHappy. You won 3:0, was that an expected outcome?
He did strategies today that I have never faced before. I blocked them pretty well, but I felt like my opponent was very nervous. I tried to use safe builds so that no matter what strategy came at me I was able to win.
- How was your practice?
I thought my opponent was someone who used 1-1-1 all the time, but his switch to macro play was pretty good. So I didn’t practice against 1-1-1 too much, and rather focused on facing macro based stategies.
- You can get into code S with one more win.
I would have been happier if I had to face Leenock. I think it will be a tough match against Tassadar who has been playing really well recently. But I think I can win as long as the games go as well as they did against BanBanssu.
- It will be a best of 7 PvP. What do you think will happen?
I think my head will explode. There are too many things I have to worry about so I plan on thinking about the situation as they happen during the game.
- This is the first PvP finals.
I think at least practice will not be a problem.
- Your team suffered a recent loss in the GSTL.
Our goal was to get at least 1 win, so I think we were ok. It will all be fine if we can do well against Startale in the next match. I am looking forward to playing against Bomber. He is someone who loves macro so I feel like we can have a fun match.
- Any last comments?
I had many people who helped me practice. A lot of SlayerS players helped me, MMA, Ryung, Lots, and TSL’s Clide, my team’s Issue and Hack, all helped me practice. Thank you.

- 아침에 컨디션이 좋지 않아 연습을 많이 하지 못했다. 이런 스코어까지 나올 줄 몰랐는데 이겨서 다행이다.
▼ 몸이 어디 안 좋은 것인가.
- 대회 당일되면 배가 너무 아프다. 오늘도 경기하면서 배가 아프더라. 벼락치기로 연습하다 보니 스트레스를 받는 것 같다.
▼ 벼락치기로 하는 이유가 무엇인가.
- 대회 당일이나 전날에 하는 연습이 집중력이 다르다. 벼락치기라고 평소에 연습을 하지 않는 것은 아니다.
▼ 상대가 안호진이었다. 3:0으로 승리했는데 예상했던 경기 내용들이 나왔나.
- 상대가 한 번도 안 해본 전략을 보이더라. 어떻게 막긴했는데 상대가 많이 긴장한 것 같았다. 빌드가 안정적으로 하는거라 어떤 전략을 써도 대처 가능한 전략이었다.
▼ 어떻게 연습을 했나.
- 1-1-1만 사용하던 분이었는데 운영으로 변경하시고 잘하시더라. 그래서 1-1-1 막는 연습은 별로 못했다. 운영위주로 연습을 했다.
▼ 1번만 이기면 코드S 직행이다.
- 이동녕 선수가 올라왔으면 더 좋았을 것 같다. 김정훈 선수가 최근에 잘하고 토스라서 힘들 것 같다. 지난 번 서명덕 선수와의 경기만큼만 풀어진다면 좋은 결과도 기대할 수 있을 것 같다.
▼ 7전 4선승제의 토스전이다. 어떨 것 같나.
- 나 역시도 머리가 터질 것 같다. 고민 같은 것 안하고 그 때가서 상황에 따라 대처할 생각이다.
▼ 최초의 토스전 결승이다.
- 연습하는 데는 큰 문제는 없다고 생각한다.
▼ 최근 GSTL에서 팀이 패하기도 했는데.
- 목표가 1승이었기 때문에 괜찮았다. 다음 스타테일과의 경기만 잘하면 될 것 같다. 최지성 선수와의 경기도 기대된다. 운영을 좋아라하시는 분이라 경기를 하게 되면 재미있을 것 같다.
▼ 끝으로 하고 싶은 말.
- 연습 도와준 분들이 많다. 슬레이어스 분들이 많이 도와줬다. 문성원 선수, 동원이 윤성훈 선수, TSL의 한규종, 우리 팀의 박홍민, 김영일 선수가 많이 도와줬다.
