The Nordic and Germanic people weren't quite so happy with referring to the roman gods and so they were allowed to use their own. To use French - German as an example: Lundi - Luna - Mond (Moon) - Montag Mardi - Mars - Dienst - Dienstag (Wedsnesday is Mittwoch in German, which just means "middle of the week" :/) //Anyways French - English: Mercredi - Mercury - Woden/Odin - Wednesday //The German "Mittwoch" is apparently adopted from the Gothic calendar which does not refer to gods at all. It seems as though Polish and Russian calendars adopted this calendar also. Jeudi - Jupiter - Thor/Donner - Donnerstag Vendredi - Venus - Freya - Freitag | ||
