Excellent, good work! I would prefer watching big tournies, non group play. Be it IPL, NASL, TSL, GSL, Dreamhack invitational and or summer/winter, MLG etc.

Go for it! An US torunament is unwise since the last matches will be too late, and a shame that you can't do it for Dreamhack. But Homestory cup #3 I'd say is your best shot. And I sure hope if this spins off there will be one for the autumn thingy off Dreamhack at least. Dreamhack is swedens esport pride, need more coverage!

You think this could happen to more Olearys bars throughout Sweden?
Would be so awesome!

How about if its a weekday?
Or is it important that its on a weekend? cause that will be a difficult restriction.

Ill be talking to Olearys tomorrow again, so then ill know how soon its possible to arrange this.

It the first event goes well there we might expand to more of Olearys bars. But the first event will take place at only on bar in the central parts of Stockholm.

This gentleman named Hasse had the same idea a few months ago and asked for feedback in another thread thread, I'd advise you to check it out as it concerns pretty much exactly what you're doing.

His was only an idea though, and I believe he stated that he was nowhere near putting his plan in motion, so you at least got a head start if you've gotten this far. Well then, let the better bar win.

Oh, and for the record, if you can get it up during the summer, I know where I'll spend my time and money warm summer evenings.

thx for link!
like i said, a lot of people have had the same idea, but its not a competition. As long as the event goes well im pleased!

Well, call me a cynic, but in the end it's all in the profit, and thus, it's a competition if you encroach on each others targeted audience. Which, in this case, you very well might.

Sorry to be a party pooper, but I'm tired of the whole "all the E-sports ventures can peacefully coexist"-attitude which seems prevalent with E-sport casters and organisers, love for the game and enthusiasm is no longer the driving factor within E-sports, money is now the name of the game. Make no mistake. In E-sports, commercialism has come. With all its horror, and all its glory. (See what I did there?)

And lastly, to end on a positive note, yay for multiple E-sports bars in my town! ^^
It's the least I can do.

I still think Dreamhack will be the best for the first event, even though you said you couldn't be there. Not only Dreamhack fits the time well, but it's also the national thing.

I think it's bit risky to choose event like MLG, considered what happened to the stream last time. First event must be successful, and MLG is too much of a gamble.

People, you all might want to keep the praises down until he manages to get something going. Even organizing one evening of StarCraftBar but not getting enough people to get the bar interested is not worthy of praise. You will only disappoint yourself if this fails.

Say, good luck and try to give him good tournament advice. All these Sweden is the best posts are pretty useless and save them for the time when something actually happens.

I disagree. I dont do this for money, frankly i might have to pay some to make this happen. I do this because I myself want to watch SC in a bar and just chill. Me and my brother use to watch games together and in a bar would be even cooler.

When I work in esportmedia it is a lot mot about competition, but I love that the SC community is quite nice and open and a lot of people really try to coexist. That only makes the scene better.
However, when something like this becomes big, and companies starts to realize that there is money to be made is inevitable that its gonna have an impact on the scene.
So yes, commercialism is indeed here, and we would sadly not survive without it. (why yes, very clever, indeed ^^)

European events would be my advice considering the time of the day they're shown, primetime. MLG Could be a contender if it was on the eastcoast but it'd go on past closing time for most bars.
The Korean leagues are generally midday to late afternoon. The time's okay but no in any way optimal.

So that leaves
Dreamhack - Which probably is too soon
Homestory III
NASL - Which is rebroadcasted at primetime for Europe, which is pretty sweet and in 1080p.

Don't show any bw matches! The sc2 community/popularity is much bigger than the bw in Sweden... In Sweden cricket and baseball are very small sports but big in other countries. It's the same thing with broodwar, it's big in Korea but not in Sweden. You can't argue that just because it's big in Korea or it's forerunner in e-sport that it would be a great idea to market it in Sweden.

Sweden has many players in sc2 and thus a great sense of national pride every time there is a Swedish success. When NASL launched they insisted on having players that the viewers could recognise and that is the case with sc2.

Besides sc2 show cs, hon and quake.

Just be sure to have a backup plan a stream breaks from the tournament you are watching. Having vods prepared or something.

I think the big BW finals could get a quite decent turn-out. I remember the TSL 2 Final meet-up in Gothenburg, it was really cool. :D
