Hi Everyone,
For those who don't know who i am, MayanWarrior on NA and PleaseNerfMe on Europe. Top level Master on Both servers. Currently Ranked #1 in my Masters Division on both Servers.
Starting this weekend i will be interviewing Female starcraft 2 players. I will be doing this on a weekly basis live on stream www.justin.tv/mayansc2 and also will have the written interviews. Every week a new female will also be doing coverage from Lan events.
I want the community to be part of this. So i will take 5-10 questions from anyone and ask the girls. So feel free to send me questions you want to ask @ mayansc2@hotmail.com or send me a PM here on TL. Let's be mature about it though, if you have nothing good to say about the girls scene or girl gamers just don't bother checking out the cool and fun interviews =]. A lot of these girls are just as serious as the guys and want to be on top as well.
So the first girl will be a secret :D but we will travel to Switzerland to interview her, she plays zerg and is very competitive. So send those questions and i'll be taking 5-10 of those questions for you :D. just keep them mature. Don't forget to follow my stream for updates.
Thanks all.
Lets keep helping E-Sports grow
The Interview will take place Saturday May, 14 at 12pm PST make sure to tune in and follow so you don't miss it.

|

Cool would love to see how Femal starcraft 2 players feel about the game.
|
Wasn't there something recently about accountlevellling being frowned upon?
|
|
So have these players won some major cups and tournaments? Or why should we care about interviews of some random masters-league players?
|
I am from Switzerland, I am very curious who she is.

Agreed. Are they just simple girls playing the game? Even then no females really have any accomplishments, but at least are they like top 200 in ladder or something or just..humans with vags whom play sc2?
Not enough depth and clarity in op, rather lacking.

To pay attention to top female players altough they cannot compete with the top male players is common in many sports (Tennis, running, ....). They usually recieve much less attention because of their skill level, but attention non the less. In starcraft one would asume that physical limitations don't play a role, but the skill gap between man and woman also exists in other non physical sports like chess.

I have a question I clicked on your Justin.Tv and I saw this. "Starcraft 2 Pro Master. Want Coaching? Contact me at Mayansc2@hotmail.com PM on TL MayanWarrior or ask here 15$hr, Accnt Leveling 3$ a win"
Accnt, leveling 3 dollars a win? Is that right? and if so Why?

Obviously, but isn't that against rules?

Interviews will be posted on youtube.
if you don't care about the female interviews than don't watch :D simple solution. Flo who just won the ESL Female tournament recently isn't even in top 200 but doesn't mean she or any of the other girls aren't taking sc2 seriously. These interviews will be for the people who want to see the interviews and are interested =]. Hope everyone enjoys.

I imagine it would have to involve account sharing, which is definitely a violation of EULA. Not really in the scope of this thread though, although I suppose you can make a tangential argument based on the contents of the stream link.

Kelly could probably be the top female, she does have a very sexy coach.

I am also not even in top200 and I am taking SC2 really seriously, but of course no one will interview me because I am not female - which is somehow important for SC2 I guess. :/
Ah well, have fun with this project, I am sure there are people interested to watch/read those i-views.

Whats with all the negativity? We should support women in e-sports in an effort to help get more involved. Just enjoy the interviews for what they are and be happy that esports is becoming more widely accepted, and promote that acceptance from the fairer sex by supporting female gamers. Young girl-gamers need someone to look up to and maybe nagging GF's who don't like you playing games will be more accepting if they see other women embracing it, maybe it'll even encourage the nagging gf's to join you in your hobby.
Like Sandermatt said, women usually don't compete with dudes in physical sports but it doesn't make them less legitimate athletes.Even if women never get to the pinnacle of the sport they could still be fiercely competitive, and imagine the fun of a mixed doubles 2v2 league etc. Nothing bad can come from this so stop being all negative nelly about it. And if you're butthurt that you're not getting the same attention because you're not a girl maybe you should grow a pair, because you certainly aren't a man.

THANK YOU MIKEN. Couldn't have said it better myself. If anyone has anything bad to say just read what Miken said and lets get back on topic.
Lets get those questions flowing in! I edited first post for the official time and date of the interview
|
If I am at home when the interview is live I'll be sure to watch it
I approve of all E-sports growth and don't see why women shouldn't have their own thing - if that's what they want. Personally I think gaming girls > non-gaming girls so you got my support
And of course I approve of girl expo in e-sport context since, as previously stated, it may help other girls take the leap into playing seriously which is awesome!

In case one misses an interview, where will it be uploaded?

This is in my opinion one of the things that is holding back e-sports from exploding to something it could be. its this elitist attitude suggesting that noone has anything to offer unless they have some major accomplishments. everything starts out small and grows over time.
Start with your support and let them grow into something amazing. even if that doesnt happen it can only bring good thing.
I think its great that things like this take place.

Interviews are usually for top players with achievements to be fair so he does have a point, although it was phrased quite harshly. They don't interview some random B teamer after Barcelona destroy Real Madrid for the 50th time to see how well they're coming along.
All for encouraging female players in sc2 though, been trying to convince my sister for a long time but she just wants to play the sims!

If these are the TOP females in Starcraft then they are not some B teamer. compared to their male counterparts maybe.
and also SC2 isnt as established as soccer is.
i dont know about you but i have had several interviews in my sport when i was young, nowhere near top level, for some article in the paper, does that mean because i am a B teamer or not at the top of my game that its a waste of time, and have nothing to contribute?

Question over here:
'What methods do you use to improve your play style and make best use of your gaming time?'
*I'm very intrigued how they may answer this question, I agree we girls need someone to look up to, so perhaps another question for them 'Who do you draw your inspiration from for SC2?'
<3 Great idea miken as well!

Females get their own leagues because they simply do not dedicate as much time. I noticed female gamers hang out with friends, go shopping, and do girly stuff, which is great. I just think that without a schedule as robust as most male progamers, it is harder to compete. This makes sense, right?
Women are probably not limited by physical capability, but by time commitment.
Basically, as long as they care about not getting fat and doing girly things and maintaining social lives that aren't based around a game, it will be hard for them to get amazing.
I feel they should be put into the same leagues as men. It makes sense, no? I don't think they should receive special treatment for what a lot of us do. I'm all for getting women involved in e sports. I just don't think they should receive merit on gender alone. But if that attention isn't there, what will possibly bring them in?
Wonder if I'll get banned. Hope I didnt come off as sexist.

Lots of gamers are guys. Lots of gamers are straight guys. Lots of straight gamer guys like girls. All-girls teams/leagues attract straight gamer guys. All-girl teams/leagues with big sponsors attract the straight gamer guy population which is the majority of gamers.

Sure. I understand. I am a straight gamer guy and I can attest to this. I just feel that equality between genders should exist where it can. I understand it may never happen In gaming because the majority of gamers are sexually healthy young men. It just feels a little odd, knowing that sexualized teams (you can't deny it is a large part of the appeal of female gamers) of all women may be good for e sports. Women always talk about equality, and it seems unfair that these female-only leagues may reward being a women over being a great player. I am not saying that female gamers are unskillful, I just think that when judging a player, you should judge by skill alone.
