After that game they turned it down so low no one in the audience could hear except the occasional loud starcraft noise. Even today i could not hear a damn thing. They said the matches would start at 10 am, but nothing was even showcased until noon, and even then you had to wait 15 minutes for the players to get ready and they were such fast matches(huk OWNED both of them on one base.) they werent worth the wait. The next one ended up getting so much lag, everyone was waiting for at least 2 hours for the next match, Grubby vs DDE, in fact I left the event out of sheer boredom, im not sure what happened in that match yet

The whole thing is extremely amateurish. On the plus side I've been able to meet several cool players, other than that I would rather have stayed home and watched the stream. Though I hear that is fail too.

Noise cancelling headphones don't work that way. They don't do anything for inconsistent sounds like speech. If headphones could do that it would be an easy fix for MLG but more costly measures need to be taken to soundproof, mainly boothes (or not broadcasting the commentators to the crowd works too.)

I don't really care if this is an improvement over last year when it seems to be so slapped together at the last minute. It takes all of 5 minutes to find out if the players will be able to hear the commentators. Instead they play the first game with commenting and then pull the commentators with no official announcement to the audience as to what is going on. If they can't afford to sound proof in some way at LEAST plan ahead and prepare for it SOMEHOW. Instead we get no official explanation and they cut in and out to the commentators mid-sentence between games. The whole thing is extremely amateurish. On the plus side I've been able to meet several cool players, other than that I would rather have stayed home and watched the stream. Completely agree.

I'm sure there are many other solutions I am not even aware of that are less costly than having booths, though that would be the ideal solution. They are using noise-cancelling earbuds with headphones over them already. Obviously that is insufficient. As stated above, noise-cancelling technology doesn't really work for inconsistent sounds.

I don't see why MLG couldn't have the players some where else instead of main stage, or at least have the players matches that are streamed else where in the venue, or even some booth around the whole stage. It just all boils down to MLG not putting the effort into these things before hand. The matches are still being streamed, and the players will be out after the games, I don't see it as a big compromise.
