It’s an exciting time in StarCraft II history. The first ever season is drawing to a close, and Season 2 is about to begin. We have some important information on how the end of season process will happen, and the times and dates for each step. During maintenance next Tuesday morning, March 22, the ladders will be locked. The lock will mean that no further league promotions or demotions can occur, and bonus pools will stop growing. So now’s the time to push for that promotion! Once locked to a league and division players can continue to play out their bonus pools and compete for standing within their division until the actual end of the season. During morning maintenance the following Tuesday, March 29, Season 1 will end and Season 2 will begin. Season milestone rewards will be distributed (more info about these in an upcoming blog), and bonus pools will start over. Internal skill ratings used for matchmaking and league placement will carry over from the previous season, so players who have played their placement matches in the previous season will only need to play one new placement match. A couple weeks later we'll be ready to launch the Grandmaster league the morning of April 12. I don't think so--everything you quoted from that post would be consistent with 1.3 coming tomorrow, and it looks like SEA is possibly already being patched. . . | ||

Actually 1.3 is coming tomorrow. They just have to wait 2 weeks to implement GM league because they need time for people to repopulate B.Net and have the skill levels level out for it to work correctly. Otherwise it would just be the first 200 people who logged into B.Net after the patch would get into GM league because they would technically be the top 200 people in the region. | ||

Im glad its just these stupid portraits as rewards that sit and rot on your profile page - if it was anything that was actually desirable or mattered, the randomness of placements into certain leagues would be so unfair to certain people | ||

The way these milestones will be awarded for Season 1 is pretty simple. When patch 1.3 is released, all players will be locked into their current league and division. wtf I have hella bonus pool but don't have time to play, now I wanna move up to master but I can't anymore. Why did they do that? | ||

It is not locked today, but you will be locked for One Week starting tomorrow morning after the patch. After which you can resume your quest to get into masters. | ||

Your bonus pool is completely irrelevant in terms of getting into Masters. Just keep playing after the lock, it'll still affect your MMR. If you get to a point where you would have been promoted, after that placement match in season 2 you'll go straight to Masters. | ||
