In honor of the almighty Grackens victory over the lesser nerds, I have written this song.
These lyrics are best read while listening to Iron Maiden´s Fear of the Dark.
Enjoy.

Im a Marine who walks alone. And when I'm walking on the creep. On maps like Macrolopolis.
When the Banes begin to morph. I sometimes feel a little strange. A little anxious on the creep.
Fear of the Grack, fear of the Grack. I have a constant fear that Mutalisks are near. Fear of the Grack, fear of the Grack. I have a phobia that Mutalisks are there.
Have you stimmed your forces up a choke. And have you felt your neck skin crawl. When you're searching for the Spire. Sometimes when you're scared to take a look. At the corner of his main. You've sensed that something's watching you.
Fear of the Grack, fear of the Grack. I have a constant fear that Mutalisks are near. Fear of the Grack, fear of the Grack. I have a phobia that Mutalisks are there.
Have you ever been alone on creep. Thought you heard Roaches behind. Scanned around and no-one's there? And as you quicken up your pace. You find it hard to stim again. Because you're sure the push is near.
Fear of the Grack, fear of the Grack. I have a constant fear that Mutalisks are near. Fear of the Grack, fear of the Grack. I have a phobia that Mutalisks are there.
Fear of the Grack, fear of the Grack. Fear of the Grack, fear of the Grack.
Fear of the Grack, fear of the Grack. Fear of the Grack, fear of the Grack.
Watching replays the night before. Debating rushes and all-ins. The unknown builds are on your mind. Maybe the Grack is playing tricks. You sense, and suddenly eyes fix. On rolling banelings from behind.
Fear of the Grack, fear of the Grack. I have a constant fear that Mutalisks are near. Fear of the Grack, fear of the Grack. I have a phobia that Mutalisks are there.
Fear of the Grack, fear of the Grack. I have a constant fear that Mutalisks are near. Fear of the Grack, fear of the Grack. I have a phobia that Mutalisks are there.

I wrote these lyrics on the spur of the moment after watching IdrA perform on GSL last Friday. But due to the three day rule I couldn't post it here 'til now. Anyway, here it is.
I really don't know,., these things are kinda,., uhm,, corny? i don't really mind though,., corny is usually good,, as a fellow norwegian i'll send you a thumb,., one pointing UPWARDS
hahahaha between the excitement of hearing this song live 6 months ago and having watched the game live too, damn, it was a really nice moment. Great lyrics AlexanderS, you have made my day, my hat goes off to you sir.
I will record it. Time will show if I will upload it, I have little to no clue if I can actually sing or if I'm just one of those guys trying out for Idol that you all laugh about ^^;

This shouldnt just be recorded, it should be video'd. Man I wish I had the ability to create with the things I just imagined from hearing it together with the original song.
Really good - did what it seems most people did and pulled up the song while reading the lyrics. I would love to see someone actually make a youtube vid with this .
Heh, might give this a bash. Will need a bit of re-writing though, rhyming scheme is all off and the syllable count is incorrect in places, makes singing it difficult.

somehow I agree with this. It is still awesome tho

I completely agree the lyrics could be improved upon, but as I said it was a spur of the moment thing. Think it took me 30 min to write it, with several listening included.
The two rhymes are off, but I like the storytelling. And the few extra (and one too few) syllables are perfectly singable.
I could always do a rewrite (art is never finished, only abandoned), but Im unsure whether Id like too.
Well done OP. the lyrics are awesome. Personally i'd love to sing this, but i know i'd butcher it so hard noone would ever listen to it twice and i'd ruin a perfectly good song. However, for anyone waiting too long to make this, i'm totally gonna find a kareoke version of fear of the dark and wail this out for a lol if it doesn't come up in the next day or two lol

I'll sing it with you.I will sound twice as worse then.

Go TB, it is pretty good. And in my honest opinion this is better than the SCV love song. But the SCV love song has a video... but meh that picture is AWSOME
sadly the backing track is fucked up a bit, but awesome work finally some metal out of all the SC2 songs, wait wasn't there some Zerg song before? Regardless this is really a nice job.

Nice to see a metal parody for a Starcraft song! I haven't read through the thread entirely, so sorry if I missed someone saying this previously, but I'd suggest two things to make the song sound a bit better:
1) Lower the vocals in the mix. I guess I understand that the lyrics are the whole point of making the song in the first place, but you can barely hear the music under the vocals at times.
2) Add a touch of reverb to the vocals. A lot of musicians add reverb to their vocal tracks because the voice tends to lose a certain quality when recorded, especially when you're using a cheap microphone. It makes the recorded voice sound more natural, I think.

Anyway, sweet job regardless.
1) Didn't have a problem hearing the music on my monitor speakers, mixed to around -12db or so, so I'm not really sure what kind of objective standard I'd need to shoot for with future tracks if that were to happen.
Am i the only one wishing a Metal Song from Kurt & Huskys Band with TB as lead singer, choreographed by Kurt and having Husky & "the other guy" dancing like Day9s Immortal impersonation in the background?

2) There was already multi-tracked reverb on it.
There is no "objective standard" for mixing the backing track unless you are recording the music yourself, as any handful of different karaoke tracks will all be at different volumes. You kind of just have to play it by ear. It's interesting that the music sounds clear on your monitor speakers; I suppose that how a mix sounds is often dependent on the medium that you're playing it through. On my (pretty decent) headphones, the vocals are much louder (relative to the music) than most other songs at my disposal.
Ah, I suppose that I can hear the reverb to some degree. I think I just prefer a bit more reverb on my vocals, but I guess that's a matter of personal preference.
Just so you all know. I will continue writing lyrics, if my favorite players continue kicking ass in GSL. And by favorite players I mean any pinkskins.
Fear of the Zerg would be a more fitting name in my humble opinion, not only is the whole "Grack" thing a bit overused by now, but the lyrics don't actually mention anything specific to Idra rather than any Zerg.
Nevertheless the outcome was amusing and I like TotalBiscuits voice

Meh, "Fear of the zerg" wouldn't have sounded nearly as awesome. Fear of the Swarm rolls off the tongue a little easier but still, it's no Grack.

The whole point was to portray what a feared opponent IdrA is. And its so more personal than to make a song about just Zerg as a race. And it does mention macroing which is pretty much all IdrA is about.

I understand, but then it would make more sense if it actually was specifically about Idra.. like mentioning his 3-0 out of a hard group etc. Whatever you feel is making him fearsome.
Fun idea nonetheless so, good work
And yeah, Fear of the Swarm has a better feel to it indeed... anywho, perhaps I'm the only one getting tired of the whole "Grack" thing, and wondering when it will blow over ~~

Unfortunately, this song was written because IdrA is awesome, not because Zerg is ubercoolawesomekawaii.

SlayerS_Boxer called Idra (real first name Greg) Grack in one game, can't remember which exactly. This started to lead his own life among Idra, Boxer and finally all GSL/SC2 fans, like cute nicknames as "The Gracken", and Artosis often referring to IdrA's leather gracket he recently wears at the GSL, etc. etc., until finally this epic song :D

I don't think this post has deserved any where near enough attention. This would actually be the most amazing thing ever.
TB, do you still have the original mix file, and is it easy to replay the backing track with something better? I did a quick look on youtube, and while the quality isn't that great, it's still better than your backing track probably. For example . Sound can be ripped to mp3 and used. I'm not too sure about copyright issues though, so this might be illegal even though you're not exploiting fear of the grack commercially.
On the TL qualifications yesterday they used a lot of SC2 related music, and this one would trump them al, so I really think we should try and up the quality of the song.

Doesn't matter. All you have to do is turn down Totalbiscuit's vocals down a few decibals. I guess it was an amateur mastering job.
I remember listening to this when it first came out. I still think it's OK, not brilliant, but much better than some of the other trash that has come out.
I wouldn't have thought of bumping this three weeks ago... But after IEM, IPL, and now MLG, I think this song deserves another look! I feel the song fits very well, as he is having most of his success against terran, which is what this song is aimed at. I have an inkling alot of new fans came under IdrA's banner recently, and it would be a damned shame if they couldn't have this playing when his spire starts up.
I personally had this running on loop throughout the Bomber series. I loved that Bomber went full macro mode against him, it really let Idra showcase his skills and I can't commend both players enough for that series. Mutalisks wrecking havok, marines rallying in waves upon waves.... Nerd chills all up and down my spine indeed! Its series like that which keep me coming back to SC2. The stage is also set for a potential rematch in MLG Providence which just oozes with potential.
GG's IdrA. great song as well; surprising that it still remains so relevant in the ZvT metagame today, almost 9 months after it was written.
