No offence to the OP, but as a published undergraduate in developmental economics, there is next to 0 information in that post that was gleaned from academic understanding of economics. The closest it gets is pointing out the obvious difference between profits and sales.

I'm not say whether the OP is right or wrong, I'm just pointing out that the OPs "crendentials" do not make his opinion any more special than anyone elses.

However, for those interested in learning more about recent developments in intellectual property law, I highly recommend googling "Lawrence Lessig", and his venture "Creative Commons"

I like how you're using your studies in UofT management to analyze the whole deal with Blizzard vs Kespa. Right now there isn't much integration but I will leave that to when you update it... looking forward to it!

Why read the 'achievements'? It brings nothing to the actual discussion. It's always like that: "I think I know what I'm talking about because I studied this field."

Unless you're an expert of course.

Just another way of confirming "I won't believe this guy simply because he did this and that." Don't judge a book by its cover.

You know, you could have just read the other thread, you would have known why he ended up talking about those numbers. I know it's easier to snip a few quotes out of context and start hammering away at them, but this is all completely irrelevant really.

The main issue is the IP and the commercialization thereof (which you completely neglect to mention). The rest is just fluff, which easily could have been settled without a lawsuit.

Sure, there are unknowns to us, what with them sticking to the NDA and all (someone's got to do it), but.. there's nothing here, this is not what the suit is about.

Pirating of the game may be an issue (though really, playing on lan and validating your copy of the game are two completely seperate issues), I think blizzards refusal to implement a lan-mode should be seen in this light. By requiring "always-on" blizzard gains complete control of the availability of the game. You're not happy with the amount of money you receive from a tournament organizer? Cut off admission to the battle-net server. From an esport point of view,no lan-mode is of course a terrible decision - tournaments must rely and hope for external factors such as the stability of your internet connection and blizzards servers - not to speak of the issue of latency. What else is there to do but to hate Robert Kotick? :{
