So let me start off by saying that I know you catch a lot of heat from a lot of people in the Starcraft community in good fun, and it is good fun. Everyone realizes that all of this banter and poking is all in good spirits but I think that it is important to take a step back from all of the messing around and actually express my deep appreciation for what you have done for everyone this past week.
I would like to sincerely thank you, Artosis, for the coverage and support you have brought to the entire foreigner community with your updates on the qualifiers for GSL 3 this week. This GSL was special for everyone I think in that there were so many foreigners involved, so many people who I know personally after attending two MLG events this year.
It was truly awesome to be able to have constant updates about how our non-korean heroes were doing over there in the qualifiers. I can not tell you how much my heart was racing in anticipation of the next update during HuK's game 3 of his group finals. The fact that I would have waited a day or even more for results and updates such as these because they are not covered live by any other english-speaking outlet means that you were truly doing something great for the community. Your youtube channel is full of interviews and videos that not only keep us in the loop to what's happening in Korea but also adds a very awesome personality to all of the players and the scene as it is still so young. I think a lot of people may not realize just how important to esports things like these are, but you have undoubtedly been providing an awesome look in to the scene that has humanized it so much to so many fans who would otherwise consider themselves "casual".
I actually talked one of my friend (a "casual" starcraft fan) in to following your twitter to keep tabs on a few players that he is a fan of form MLG events. He mentioned to me that he woke up Tuesday (in America) morning and had 48 text messages, mostly from Artosis' twitter. "And I read every one of them and I have never been more pumped for a video game event to get started in my life".
What you are doing is so good for esports and is helping bring this dream that so many of us have had to bear in a way that not many people have the opportunity to do it. You don't have to do any of this but you do, and I can only presume that it is out of the love of the game that so many of us share with you.
So with this I say to you, Dan, longtime mainstay of all things starcraft, thank you so much for what you are doing. You are helping esports grow everywhere and bringing it to people who can only wish to have the opportunities you do. And for that, I am so grateful, I just thought I would make an effort to ensure that you knew that what you are doing is amazing, and hopefully more of my fellow TLers can agree with me.
Thank you so much Artosis!
PS: I would have posted this in the qualifier thread, but i didn't want it to get buried and never seen, so mods if you feel it should be moved or placed elsewhere, I understand, I just want this to find it's way to Artosis somehow.
Indeed. You have to appreciate the people that put so much of their time and effort in to bringing Starcraft (even e-sports as a whole) to the masses. I for one really am thankful for the effort that goes in to these things.
Artosis is by far one of the biggest contributor in the starcraft community. The man lives and breathes starcraft. Between his extensive knowledge, actually in game skill, commentating, and crazy passion to bring us all sorts of interviews, behind the scenes videos, and even having a thread where he will answer your zerg questions, Artosis is truly a baller.
Dan always manages to top himself. It's really pretty wild. His dedication is out of this fucking world and inspires/pumps up who knows how many people - more than I can count. Keep it up, man.
Artosis is such a baller, man. Always enjoy his updates, interviews, analysis, and appearances on State of the Game. Truly one of the leaders in the rise of e-sports in the world.
I wish we could see stats on the hits your twitter was getting throughout the last few days. Maybe the F5 count too.
Your coverage definitely brought a huge amount of fun and excitement into the last few days! (not too mention the previous GSL's, but this one especially was super awesome).
Artosis is a national treasure, a lend-lease siege tank of Starcraft goodness shooting massive loads of knowledge into the desperately piping mouths of a million nerd-birds.
...
By that I mean: Thanks Artosis. There's a ton of us out there that enjoy your content. gl hf
Artosis, you sir, are a scholar and a gentleman. I have followed your work since I started out in the BW scene through scforall.com, and it is really terrific to see that you still keep it up with Starcraft 2.
Not only does he provide fantastic coverage... he is the reason I am into Starcraft after my long, long absence and the reason I ever found Teamliquid. In the summer a couple of years ago he cast some games live between Ret and some Korean B teamers on Justintv. For whatever reason I happened to stumble onto them that night and decide to watch it. I only caught the last few minutes but it reminded me of playing SC when I was younger.
After seeing scforall's link I went there and started watching his videos and reading newsposts. In them I learned of teamliquid and found my way to this site. Been here since and I owe it pretty much entirely to Artosis. Keep up the great work and thanks a bunch.
Thank you Artosis for all your great work. I am more of a lurker here, but upon seeing this threat I just had to post. Your entertaining yet educational style, spiced up with a pinch of bias, keep us glued to our screens throughout GSL and other events.
The youtube videos are great. I'm sure many people appreciate them. Hell, Blizzard/GomTV should even pay you for those personal GSL videos, because I really think it gives more a community feeling to people, and encourages them more to attend GSL (how ever small it might be)
You do amazing work artosis, keep being amazing, and maybe take better care of yourself. Weren't you sick last GSL qualifiers too? As awesome as your coverage is you should try to find a happy medium where you aren't working yourself to exhaustion every few weeks.
Artosis is the man. Other people may think that they are the man, but really; there can only be one man.
That's Artosis.
Now the only thing that could increase my nerdcrush is if you were able to bring us MORE . I'm extremely sad that the GOM invitational is only in Korean =[
yeah gsl videos and coverage of the qualifiers this time around felt way better than the past 2. Maybe I was just more interested because there were so many more foreigners giving it a shot but either way, really great.
Thanks Artosis, Some of the other guys are only in it for the money, fame, and bitches. We all know your heart is purely devoted to all things SC. If you happen to enjoy the aforementioned peripheral delights then so be it.
Thanks Artosis. Looking forward to seeing you stalk various women with your camera from a distance, or was this a one time thing? I really enjoyed that video... alot
If E-Sports become big in the west, Artosis will be one of the main reasons for that happening. Dan, thank you, sincerely, thank you so much for your hard work and dedication
I'm going to join in on the "thank you Artosis" line. Refreshing your Twitter were the most fun games I didn't watch in a very long time. You get a lot of teasing from the community, but it's all in love. We all really appreciate what you do for us.
yeap, Artosis along with Day9 deserves a medal for all they've done for the community, Artosis especially doesn't get enough credit for all his works...
Just wanted to also say great job with the coverage and videos. These really let you get to know the players better. Probably my favorite videos were the Jinro interviews before and after qualifying. Before the matches he's like man I'm sick as a dog and feel like hell. After qualifying he's so pumped, "this place is great"
I love you Hermione Artosis. the sheer amount of vids has been awesome, but even before this your casting and general attitude has just been great. Things like bringing us the first games of boxer, catching Fruit Dealers six pool moments into the game, guest appearances on SotG, Actually playing in the GSL, and more have made me a huge fan.
You are so handsome Artosis. Thx for the great coverage again. This footage is awesome - it gives an impressive insight in the prelims over there! I wish a speedy recovery! Did Jinro pass on the flue? ^^
much as i love making artosis jokes, it's true that he's an amazing person.
these exceptionally talented, intelligent, and dedicated people like artosis are the ones who make the starcraft community thrive like no other. look at any other gaming community. i'll use quake as an example because i played so much quake back in the day. there really wasn't much of a community besides the guys you got to know on your regular servers. not because there weren't a lot of talented players, but because there weren't people like artosis or day9 or tasteless who are all so dedicated to the community and take so much pride in their outstanding work.
I'm new to the BW and sc2 scenes but im following the scene like crazy and can say whitout a doubt that Artosis is probably one of the guys that works more and better for the community!
Completely agree with op It's so nice to see a different side of all the progamers All of which is possible because of your updates and interviews Thank you!
3 of my clanmates and I were mashing f5 on our twitter during some of those intense games involving foreigners. Most I've been excited about games I wasn't able to see!
Thanks for the updates to the foreigner community!
Last year my love affair with Artosis began, as all blossoming love affairs do, in the Spring.
I was taking a quick vacation from my Chinese uni and thought about visiting Seoul, mostly because of all the exciting SC:BW commentaries aimed at low-knowledge spectators like myself, among which my favorite commentaries were consistently coming from none other than Artosis. Being a complete noob and wanting to know all the details about stuff like how to get to the GOM stadium / how to find the match schedule / ect., I PM'ed the most authoritative person on the boards I knew: Artosis.
That mf'er was damn helpful.
Glad to see him gain ever more recognition. He's easily my favorite caster, and has been ever since he and SuperDan began doing casts on sc4all. Now, he's one of the primary reasons I tune into the GSL every week.
All that said, I guess my point is: the guy's handsome. What more is there to say?
show some larve! those video-interviews and filmed matches are superb. And considering the short amount of time it took to upload all of it ... respect sir.
Echoing everyone! Artosis is truely great. Commentaries, coverage, interviews, analysing.. Checking his youtube acc every day. He is doing so much for the community and esport in general. And he is making it so easy for us foreigners to follow the big scene over in Korea. I hope he gets to see this thread. Thanks Artosis, keep it up! ^__^
I really liked the gsl3 quals interviews and fpvods of ret + huk playing full series! And the idra+artosis "hes going to lose" about haypro/sen's games and then they win ~30 seconds after! Just goes to show this game is still so crazy. Feel better artosis haha
I couldn't of said it better myself. I make a few cracks at artosis, though I don't know him, but I appreciate all he does for the community. I actually enjoy his casting more than tasteless's now, he's more passionate. You're such a damn geek Artosis, and I love 'ya for it.
I respect Artosis. He does an amazing job and tries to be professional as much as he can, yet he squeezes some fun in his journalism that it's never boring or too bland. I really love his style.
Don't change Artosis! Keep it up, we are all thankful for your effort! Get well soon!
As a mostly lurker here, I must indeed concur with the others here - Artosis is teh awesome He's already easily my favorite commentator, combining a perfect blend of game knowledge and a tremendous passion for the game, and then he goes and provides awesome coverage on the qualifiers despite his health.
The only thing I'd add though is get some rest man! We need you in tip-top shape here for your awesome and high-level commentary here in less than a week when GSL3 gets underway!
I don't really have anything to add to what's already been said, but it can never hurt to make a post just so Artosis knows that there's at least one more person out there who really appreciates what he's doing!
agreed, it's great to be able to follow the qualifiers live through twitter even though I'm stuck at work - and even better to be able to watch a bunch of player interviews and a couple of games, once I'm home.
When Artosis is on the story you get the human side. Who else is going to ask Huk about all the showers he's been taking? Who else is going to bring us video coverage of iNcontrol's butt as Ret makes his bid to enter the GSL?
But seriously Artosis and Tasteless bring the GSL alive for me and my family.
Thanks for everything Dan. May you have continued success and lots of tofu.
Artosis is one of the hardest working, most awesome people I've ever met. Not only is he a brilliant commentator and player, but he's absolutely hilarious. I'm consistently blown away at his wit and how fast he thinks. Kudos to you Artosis! You deserve so much credit for helping eSports grow :D.
Can we give him a vulture icon, or would it have to be something more vegetarian?
Jay kays all around. Artosis is definitely a stud, holding down the foreigner scene in SC2 with style and panache. I love his commentaries on GSL and the interviews/updates he's always out to provide.
I have to say, as fun as spamming f5 on brackets and gom official pages was during the first 2 GSLs, it was way more fun following your twitter ^^ thanks dan~

<3333
You're not to bad yourself good Sir. Love your work buddy, keep it up.
And yes Artosis does an amazing job, thanks alot for the hard work! (And dont forget Tasteless!)
Thanks Artosis, and I didn't see it in this thread but keep trying to qualify man. Many people don't think of you as much of a player anymore, and you are a damn fine commentator, but I enjoy your Zerg even more.
Artosis, not only do you do an absolutely amazing job at commentary, your interviews are also great and I love getting those glimpses of "behind-the-scenes" footage. We all appreciate the hard work you do!
Mega love for such a high level commentator and someone who has just dedicated themselves to helping ESPORTS grow, thanks for been our lifeline in korea and keep up the amazing work! (shoutout to tasteless for also been a baller commentator out there) <33
Artosis should make a website with Korean SC news. It could be done in conjunction with GomTV/Gretech if they have a problem with an independent site. I'd like to see Artosis's vids get more exposure than just youtube/TL.
Yah, I Love the stuff He Putsch out there and how Active He is in Peinigung starcraft. It just sadens me that He has sometimes so much down Time in His youtoube channel. Waiting for the Next Clips and Interviews to come up.
He's the reason why I switched from War3 to Starcraft Broodwar due to his fantastic commentary in WCG 2009. He had an eloquent voice, great knowledge and humor and made that Broodwar interesting to me when I was just digging Warcraft 3 videos in WCG. Tasteless is good to but his casting partners in previous WCG's knew jack shit about Starcraft: Brood War (Wacksteven and DJWheat), Daniel Lee was good but his accent totally murdered the shoutcasting.
He has done so many voluntary work from his SCForall site to recording GSL qualifiers and commentating GSL.
He hypes up his friends or personal favorite players quite bit and pushes his opinions a bit too far sometimes, but he's a greatest caster and asset to Starcraft nonetheless
Ze bump. Artosis is doing fucking great this week. You really notice the difference on these shorter days and the gruelling 10 match commentating days.
I don't really have much to substantially add to the OP other than to say that I agree.
I think there's a lot (and it may or may not be meritorious) criticism of anyone with a profile in this community. But I terribly enjoy what Artosis does. The guy pretty much lives Starcraft and provides us whether through his video, words, or commentary, with a deeper appreciation for the game.
I want to add my thanks for all that he does. There are a lot of people doing a lot of work in this community, often for very little.
We seem to be quick with criticisms are all too little, with support.
Agreed. Artosis has quickly becoming my favorite member of the SC community, and my favorite commentator. He's got the perfect mix of knowledge and humor.
I love it when he takes his camera and tapes the koreans in their "natural habitat", as in showing us how life is over there (also the many comments like the skinny jeans etc <3).

Holy shit random capitals everywhere! Artosis is good but I wouldn't refer to him as "He".
I feel bad for artosis, tasteless got his own poster and song and now artosis doesn't even have a computer to watch the game on!! I feel it may necessitate a new forum for fan images but I do not want to be the creator in case it is a bad idea

I've always been a bit of an Artosis fan, but since GSL season 2, ive become such a huge fan <3.. I dont know when he became such an amazing commentator.. He must really be putting a lot of effort into the GSL :D
No offense but I'm getting sort of tired of all these threads, Don't get me wrong I usualy think the people mentioned are great but every week seems there are new threads "thank you for..." "I think xx is awesome because..." "Is xxxx the greatest baller of all time" most commonly Day9, Arotosis and Tasteless followed by hundreds of comments of people agreeing and writing hearts and everything.
My point is I get it we like those guys but it's NOT neccersary for a new thread everytime they do something great. Find another way. Make a thread dedicated to what we think they did great and we can update that or just write it on the fanclub page ask them to include it in the first post. I'm pretty damn sure that an egocentric guy like Artosis <3 will check his official fanthread every once in a while. I know I would.
I completely agree. Artosis does a great job for this community it is ridiculous! The behind the scene coverages he does on his own because of his love for the game is truly admirable. He's a great guy.
Thank you.
[EDIT] I remember Liquid`Tyler mentioning in SotG that no one else loves Starcraft more than Artosis and I believe it. The great work he does for the community is the best proof of that fact.
I really appreciate his work for eSports in general. Not going to lie, I have a few of the pro players accounts as friends on the NA server. Yet the only one who really will stop and talk to anyone is Artosis. When he is online and available he'll talk to you, about anything really, and he isn't condescending like some pro's can be.
I think you are a beacon of what eSports represents and how much people truly love you is encompassed in the 15+ pages of love here on TeamLiquid.
Keep sharing your replay packs with us! ^^ I've actually learned alot about where to put my overlords and where to creep spread/scout from watching your replays. <3<3<3 Artosis
Artosis is by FAR my favorite vegetarian. We <3 you. The man uses his time off from commentating GSL to commentate on his Youtube channel! How amazing is that shit?
Artosis thank you for all of the amazing content you keep on bringing to the table. Being a Gom commentator, getting us translated interviews immediately after the game, doing your own interviews, filming and updating us on the quals and your weekly updates back in the day.
Also how can we forget ascension (Sure I only heard about it in the past year, but it's a hilarious story).
Huge thanks for all the content posted on your youtube page. Some really sick games being casted and uploaded there. If anyone of you didn't see them all yet, DO IT: + Show Spoiler +
Never stop doing what you are doing! BIG HARTS TO U! the true embodiment of nerd baller, if there was picture for it in the dictionary there would be you with your fohawk and blazer! <3<3!
Thank you very much artosis, if u werent there, things will be drastically different.. Even you were ill or your internet upload limits are exceeded you did not stop uploading vods! thank you!
I especially want to thank you for the interviews you do with Greg Fields! Also echoing the sentiments of others - keep it up Dan, we really appreciate all you do for the community!
GSL3 qualifiers was the first time I ever really sat in an IRC channel and refreshed a thread in another tab waiting for text to update. Plus all the interviews after the qualifiers were great too. That entire event while not broadcast in a traditional sense is a highlight that's going to stick out for a very long time when I think about gaming. Artosis is awesome. Thanks man.
Artosis, you're amazing man. Love what you've done for the community over such a long time now. Also admire the dedication to the game you showed in the video NoobieOne just posted.
Like Ive said on most of his youtube videos, he lets us peek inside the behind the scenes footage of how these great players work their way up to that GSL stage and it really is great to watch!
A really down to earth noble guy with a sincere passion for starcraft who isn't afraid to hide it, he shares it with the world. Thanks Dan, your the man. Signed your biggest fan, Stan. <3
Artosis' coverage of the KR scene with awesome interviews and the amazing updates in GSL qualifiers paired with his baller commentating and jokes makes him my favorite sc2 caster! Well, not my favorite, but he stands next to day 9 imo in terms of e-sports figureheads. Keep up the amazing work Artosis! Your love of e-sports inspires everyone.
^ I can't even fathom Artosis not having a fan club. Artosis is just an amazing member of the community. Artosis' passion is unrivaled. The WCG video had me crying.
if Artosis stopped casting GSL I would not buy it anymore. He's the nerd that all nerds strive to become and incredibly knowledgeable about all the new trends/tournys
Thank you so much for all you do for the community Artosis. I can say you made me a better Zerg and all you do on your youtube channel and in GSL is just amazing. E-sports needs more people with your passion for the game and the community. <3 :D
Artosis is the man. Not only is he an amazing caster with excellent knowledge of the game and the players but also provides us with behind the scenes footage of the players, interviews and much more that wouldn't be available if it wasn't for him. Keep that passion burning,it's spreading for the best. <3
I really couldn't agree more. Thank you for everything Artosis, it was you and the GSL that made me as into esports as I am now. Seriously, I really appreciate your dedication.

That's a pretty big call..
I heart Artosis but i don't think there needs to be competition between Day9 and Artosis hehe
On March 03 2011 15:02 mierin wrote: I really hope Artosis views this thread...he is even more important to esports than day9; really Artosis is seriously a hero among nerds
Ya, perhaps I got ahead of myself Anyway, Artosis fighting <3
Not gonna lie, he wasn`t my favourite caster but he has grown on me so much and his passion for the game just spreads to you. I also realized he is the only guy going out there out of his own time, getting inside info on the korean scene and players. This man deserves any good thing he gets. Best caster by far!
On March 03 2011 15:18 hmunkey wrote: Who actually gives Artosis heat? I was under the impression everyone loved him.
I'll give him heat!
Artosis always pronounces maybe as maymbe. Bwahahaha!
Seriously though, you're awesome Artosis!
Edit: When Artosis isn't flirting with Kelly I think he actually casts EVEN BETTER than with Tasteless, as if that is even possible. Showing off for the ladies
Artosis you are a king among men i left you a personal thank you in the house tour thread already but id really like to thank you again i really cant even begin to express how appreciative i am of what you have done for the starcraft community.
I love watching all your videos and you are by far my favourite caster in the entire world and i am super excited whenever you release any new content weather its just you having fun on a vacation or casting super intense games from the korean ladder.
I watch every single gsl and your analysis mixed with jokes and chemistry with tastless is unmatched every other pro tournament i watch im always thinking "i wish Artosis and tastless were casting" you guys are the pinnacle of e sports around the world
Artosis is, in my opinion, the best caster out there. It is just incredible how passionate he is about starcraft. Even if I'm not in the mood, Artosis always gets me pumped and jumping on the couch.

signed - this guy lives starcraft! In General the sc2 community has many passionate ppl which are trying to make this game the greatest e-sports ever )

Is it just me- or has the casting just jumped up another level this season? Artosis' delivery has improved and Tasteless is pouring in more intelligent commentary.

I think so too. I've watched his code A casting the other day with Kelly after a relatively long time of not watching the GSL and I was astounded - Artosis just seemed to be on a whole new level that I haven't seen in the SC2 community before. Really enjoyed his casting.
On March 03 2011 16:55 Jerubaal wrote: Is it just me- or has the casting just jumped up another level this season? Artosis' delivery has improved and Tasteless is pouring in more intelligent commentary.
Artosis is on fire and Tasteless has CLEARLY started playing again, if he wasn't before.

Now that they dont have to cast 3-4 hours every day, they can actually play for themselfs again. Bringing in another caster was the best decision so far from gom.
I think the rest has definitely played a big part. I think they were both struggling to keep up the energy and banter everyday for 3 weeks. Between the days off to relax a bit, and just the fact they don't need as much content to fill air due to being on less, I think has really given us less quantity but higher quality in terms of casting.
Artosis is an amazing caster. I think when he casts with Tasteless, they mesh so well that it can be easy to kind of group them together and not recognize what each one of them bring to the table. Casting along side Kelly, you can really see what they're like.
I enjoy Tasteless' shenanigans but casting along side Kelly, you can see how Artosis is such a strong caster. His commentary is great, his ability to read player strategies in the game based on both his game knowledge and personal experience with it on the ladder is amazing.
Greetings from northern norway Artosis. When working near the sea, away from family and friends for long periods of time, my light of day was to come home and watch GSL vods with the casting archon. Thanks for your enthusiasm!
He's definitely the best caster, his analysis is just fantastic. Idra was also surprisingly good for information - I mean it's kind of obvious but I just didn't expect him to cast ok at all.
I always respected Artosis dedication and his contributions to ST:BW and Sc2. I didn't love him until he started co-casting with Tasteless. I always thought of him as a professor of sorts, dull, but god does his humor and wit work for me.
Just wish he would get some boothtime, he seems so happy in there
Posting in this epic thread to show my appreciation to the caster with the most up-to-date knowledge of starcraft. You are the only person I follow on twitter and you are one of the main reasons I follow GSL.
Artosis, you are one of the persons I respect the most due to your unhindered love for StarCraft. You have probably changed the lives of thousands of nerds who were ashamed of the fact that the love SC, but now can follow your example and accept themselvs and their passion for StarCraft!
Thanks alot!! Keep on the good work and all the success you achieve you deserve!
