Replays.net has published a news with some BW and Warcraft 3 players who are joined GSL season 2. We can see some legend of Warcraft 3 (ReMinD, the WCG 2010 winner, the 5th race : Moon etc...), the three legends of BW, and maybe the two best chinese players : Loner and Luffy.
I'd love to see Sen get involved. I haven't been able to watch much of his stuff since the Beta...he was debatably the best player in the world at that point.

Their website blows- can you still watch all of ro64 matches to finals for free or you need their season ticket?
Can anyone clarify?
Don't consider.. just buy it, its going to be well worth the money, even more so with all these legends competing in it.
If you choose not to buy premium you can only see all matches by watching it live. It will be fairly mediocre quality.. and they're played like 4-5 AM your time I believe.
To be able to see all the VODS you need to buy premium, otherwise you only get to see the first match of every series.

if you're referring to this Lyn (protoss), he was on gisado the other day and his real name didn't match Lyn the wc3 progamer's name. so it's likely that he's chosen a new name.
Hm.... I would love to see the newer foreigners like Huk to come in (though Huk isn't going to come), but more or less, I don't want to see a cheese fest. Give me good matchups.
Side note: probably nitpicky on my part, but OP can you change the title of the thread? 'News contenders' is kinda misleading. Thanks.
ToD plays a little to Starcraft2, but he live in China with FoV, SaSe, Shortound and Zacard (not sur for the four ex-w3 players) and he has others priority (poker).

Im just talking about the Asian WC3 player. What is gisado?

Artosis said that Moon actually won 24% of his games vs the WeMadeFox B team, an impressive feat already. Moon can smoke most foreigners in BW, don't even talk about SC2.
wow. that is really dope. If lyn soccer focus and moon do play. I doubt they would get far in the tournament cuz of warcraft 3 macro but it would be cool to see them play. Theres a couple replays of WEInfi around if you need to see more warcraft 3 pros. Wheres grubby at haha

Dont get your hopes up. Remember when artosis posted that video of moon building a PF in his main and shit with 3 turrets. LOL. Im sure hes alot better now but still...
Moon vs. Boxer would be mind-boggling, anyone know what race Moon plays as? I heard he tried out Terran a bit a while ago, wondering if he's sticking with that.

There isn't an official word, but the players who register for the GSL have their registration information posted on the website I believe, and one of the registration names used Boxer's email for the WCG.
I wouldn't be surprised of WeMade makes a sc2 team soon. I mean with nada switching over and most of their warcraft 3 players switching over, and that they are already in the same house, they might as well.
Who cares about WC3 anyway? It's not even an RTS. Seriously? Some guy leveling one unit (hero) on NPCs and getting random drops on top of that? Hahaha. Requires some mad strategy indeed.
I'm just happy to see some more (hopefully Zerg) Julyzerg action. <3 Been a B-fan (Jaedong > July after all) ever since I watched July defend some crazy rush in a ridiculous fashion... can't find the VOD... it was fucking awesome though.
Moon is going to be great to watch his play was always two steps ahead of everybody in wc3 much like fruitdealer int he finals. The GSL is going to be so ridiclously packed, let us celebrate gentleman we have our NFL of SC now
Hmm, I am surprised how many people are excited to see moon play... Did they not see Nada/Boxer/July!? I mean based on GSL1 every1 was SC:BW pro until checkprime got eliminated, no? Anyway, we'll see how things pan out.
I'm surprised no one has been talking about MVP, this guy is the best bw converted to sc2 progamer we've seen so far. Sure, NaDa and BoxeR are legends, but this guy has taken games of BeSt, Stork, BaBy, Flash this year. He was the best terran Woongjin had.

nada left the wemade team house. and they probably can't make a sc2 due to kespa influence.

No he cant play tournaments as long as his in the military and I think he got more then a year left. He can only play online in his free time.
Some news from GomTV: The number of people that have registerd is more than twice the number in season 1. Many of the top ladder players that didn't participate in season 1 have entered not to mention famous top SC1 players. (Going to be hard to get into ro64)
We are trying to improve Video quality of VODs and it will be applied soon. Thanks.
The price of the Season ticket of GSL Season 1 has been discounted to $9.95 due to the fact that Season 1 is finished.
Also for the customers who purchased a Season ticket for Season 1, a Season ticket of Season 2 will be available at a discounted price.

Due to the influx of players, they have been forced to increase the qualifiers from just the weekend to four days.

I'm confused what's going on with WeMade WC3 players switching to SC2 and the team's relation with Kespa. It seems that Nada had to leave WeMade to play SC2, but their WC3 players can freely play it? Are the WC3 players not tied to Kespa like the SC:BW players?

He didn't have much time to practice for the last GSL - he even said he has had more time this time around. If he doesn't make it back to the Ro64, it will be because he's unlucky, or because of the competition getting a lot tougher. Artosis Fighting!
On October 06 2010 11:42 Seek wrote: I'm certain Moon is going to do very well, but not too sure about Lyn. Michael will fail horribly like he did in most of his wc3 career.
If Check can reach the level he did, Lyn can become one of the best easily. In Wc3 he has been one of the most consistent player ever. About Michael, well, I don't know why you say he failed horribly but he started getting noticed last year and immediately made it into WMF. He's a creative player and his style of play (units all over the map, at all times) is very suiting for sc2, imo.
People keep forgetting Check came from wc3 and is a strong example of how the wc3 skill set can help the transfer over to sc2. I'm really excited and scared to see NaDa and Boxer. In the IdrA vs Boxer game, you could see he hadn't fully gotten used to the game yet, but solid Boxer play with sc2 Terran sounds like the worst/most annoying thing to play against with solid Nada play being pretty close behind boxer for entirely different reasons though.

He had the most entertaining replays ever, regardless of how well he did
Remind and Lyn just got back from WCG so I doubt they've had much time to practice SC2 but hopefully that's all Moon has been doing for the past month or so.
On October 06 2010 15:27 Tankbusta wrote: WeMadeFox players are in this? Won't Kespa not allow them to do that?
According to a reply made from the Wedmade fox twitter account, kespa has given wc3 players the permission to enter. They've only banned sc1 players from entering.

The whole WMF WC3 lineup switching to SC2 is one of the greatest news ever
Moon blew my mind so many times in WC3, I can't wait to see him play Z Non WC3 players may not realize it, but he's the absolute best WC3 player ever. Remember that Check is doing fairly well in SC2 (#2 Z in GSL ^^) and he was light years behind Moon.
Plus RohJinWook (don't call him Michael, he changed his nick to RJW shortly after he joined WMF) is the craziest RTS player ^^ I'm guessing reapers into ghosts/battlecruisers

Where did he say that? (Just interested)
He said it in some video but he was referencing the following inhouse rankings from the WeMade Fox house.
GSL2 quality of play will just blow GSL1s out of the water. The biggest problem with GSL1 was people choking when playing in front of such a crowd and with such a prize pool. Also the level of knowledge for matchups etc has gone forward by miles. Now at least 80% will already have played in GSL1 or be old pros from bw or wc3 and with that kind of experience theyll play much better. I expect that right from ro64 will be the same than in ro32 or even ro16 (on average) from GSL1.

He defintely is his brother.
Hope Moon will do good, even though i kind of doubt it as there is so super tough competition this GSL and i could see most good players fail to qualify without seedings.

Yep, as will MVP I think. He is now #1 on Korean ladder. Seems to be training hardcore lately. He went 12-2 in his last 14 ladder matches. I actually think that MVP will be a top contender for the title.
This is what makes SC2 so good, all the top players from basically every previous RTS are going to come out and play SC2, and we'll get to see who's really the best of the best. GSL S2 keeps getting better and better.
On October 07 2010 07:36 Ogyusuh wrote: I expect MVP to take the next GSL, by far the best SC BW pro that transferred over, of course I personally would love to see Boxer win instead!
i think in a new game like that its more of a bonjwaness qualities that count. I'd personally expect more success from Moon then from MVP:x Besides i'm sure if Nada or July were still motivated by SCBW they would be better at SCBW then MVP anyway.
Isn't Julyzerg, FantaPrime? If so I am not that impressed thus far. I'm very impressed by BoxeR's play so far though. I know Julyzerg can do better and I haven't seen him play since like 2 months so don't hold my words against me
I didn't follow Warcraft 3 but seems like Moon is the top dog. If that's the case, I expect top 8 easily from him since Check can get there. I love their micro style.
Can't wait for NaDa though. Anyone have replays of him on SC2?
Now we all wait for Flash and Jaedong to transition as well lmao
but also sucks to see oGsTheSTC not participate. He is one of the best Terran players thus far. I've watched some of his recent replays and he did get somewhat better. He needs to work on his supply blocking though.

Hence the nicknames. Saint Michael / Archangel Michael is the leader of the army of God and fights the devil and stuff aka Lucifer. If you look for St. Michael paints you will notice he is drawn as an angel with a sword or spear pointing to a demon or a dragon. That also explains why he changed his aka to RJW after his brother retired. lol
We hear a lot of big names switching over, but I highly doubt many of them will go far seeing as they're fairly new compared to those who got a lot of hands on experience during the beta testing phases (even if some of them have 1000 games in the bag). This season will be fairly more interesting though.
ToD plays poker. I used to play HoN with him but he has seemingly retired from progaming. When I asked him to play SC2 with me his reply was, "Nah, I don't want to get addicted".
Why are you guys all in a tizzy over hearing this kind of news? There is $100K in the prize pool... the players mentioned in the OP are PROGAMERS. Eventually, as their main game dies in popularity or prize pool they will naturally gravitate to another game (e.g. texas hold 'em).
BW Koreans are loyal to Kespa but as it implodes from hubris and pride more and more BW pros will switch (as long as the prize pools keep coming in). They, no doubt, cannot wait to be free from the fascist kespa regime.
as this is orginally a SCBW forum, do not confused the Lucifer people are mentioning with RJW with the BW player Lucifer
this is an entirely different Lucifer from wc3 who played undead while his brother under the name "MicheaL" who played human (DK/Paladin, the brothers archangels, etc)
This is the best news I've heard all week (it's been a slow week).
Of all the WC3 players, I think Moon can/will do the best in SC2. Not only because he is probably the greatest WC3 player that has ever played, but because of his playstyle. He has outstanding micro but more importantly he has a mass expand macro strategy that he has used extreme effectively in the past. A style that leads perfectly to SC2 play.
God I hope he is a zerg player. It is a race that is perfectly suited for him.
Side note, I wouldn't expect much from these WC3 players in GSL2. I mean, remind/lyn have probably had 0 time to practice. They most definately have put in all their time to practicing for WCG. Remind/Lyn were both missing that covetedly WCG title (and in Lyns case, I'm pretty sure it's the only major WC3 tournament he has never won). So I'm sure they haven't touched any SC2 for awhile. They probably didn't even leave the states til 2-3 days ago. So yea, don't expect much from them just yet.

jinro and artosis have a decent chance, tlo will probably make it, idra is virtually guaranteed a spot. once huk gets over there, he has a fair chance of making it too. i havent seen enough of haypro to judge his odds in the gsl
Due to the fact that alot of pro-gamers and most players in the Diamond League of the Korean server actually signed up for this tournament, it will be a highly competitive tournament to distinguish the Champion of Starcarft2.
I think I read somewhere that theres going to be somekind of coverage of the prelims, but can find it now. Dont know if they meant something like what Artosis did or actual casted games.
Its great seeing the likes of Moon playing in GSL2 but I wouldnt be suprised if they dont get too far in this tourney, they are still playing wc3 at the same time as well. It wont be long till they quit wc3 though and they swtich over for good and then well see hwo good they become!!!
This is really exciting, definitely think MVP and Moon will be amazing to watch. MVP is incredibly underrated as he was the only BW pro performing who has switched so far; while ex-icons like July taken the scene by storm, it already seems like MVP is doing pretty well on ladder. Could be the old fear of BW pro domination coming to GSL2.
As a zerg (ex)-player (I quit playin' lol) I am all pumped for watching more Zergs in action... did not bother to watch IEM US because there were no zergs in it.
So if these new W3 players and old BW pros pick Zerg as their race I'll be cheering for them.
