It's a Blizzard domain registered since 1996. http://whois.domaintools.com/battle.net ![]()

Second shut up with the battle.net is blizzard's, I know it is, but some may not know, but lets show this as an example the UK(united kingdom) google site is www.google.co.uk 2 dots in the domain, what stops hackers from making a beta-eu.battle.net domain ? This might be real, but I don't see any mention anywhere else but that site about this digital download, and the site design don't look like blizzard work either... but let the flaming begin, I just know im not gonna touch any links on that site, gonna way for the real battle.net to get the digital up if it's gonna come. lol its not fake, alot of games can be downloaded before the lauch (like a week or 2 ), i heard infinity wards even sold disc copys before game was out had to have internet to activate it thow. Steam does it with alot of games like L4D2 and other. There will just be an other patch when the game comes out to update/unlock the game.

www is a subdomain main is the domain name A subdomain is always owned by the owner of the domain, so if you see something like unofficial.battle.net, it's still a part of battle.net owned by Blizzard

I have a question though since they weren't clear enough, it obviously says download this for use with the digital download, but what if I use this installer and activate with my pre-order (shipped) game? Basically I'm asking if you can use this installer to 'skip' and save yourself time from the manual install, then use your shipped SC2 key to activate.

You prolly need to ask Blizzard directly about that. i believe you activate your bnet account, not the game itself, which requires you to login to bnet at least once anyway

Now they just need to make it so you can chat on b.net through the site. Would be real nice at times ![]()

And your cd key ever unlocks the game it unlocks an account on b.net .. that's why you can have multiple installs of the game because they are useless without a b.net account. The only reason it is time-locked is to stop people installing it early

Phishing sites conceal their identity in links by making the url appear to be going somwhere that it isn't or on sites by adding the familiar bit at the start and hoping you won't notice the funny bit like battle.net.imhackingu.org . If you control the xxxx.com you can make any subdomain you want like yyyy.xxxx.com so the fact that there is an address like http://beta-us.battle.net isn't a problem although it would have been nice if any page you go to that requires a login was actually a https:// page. If you click the normal login on those pages its not clear it's going to https://
