Obviously, if I had known about this site I wouldn't have even ordered a hard box. At that time there wasn't even a hint for digital licensed game. I searched Blizzard stores, internet, nothing. Just to be sure: If I get a boxed version, can I use the cd key from the box for the digital download? Meaning I could DL the digital and I'll be good to go the 27th at 10am? Thanks! Bashiok confirmed you can use your physical activation code on the digital version. Show nested quote +Once the game activation key is added to your Battle.net account and your game license is active, the option to download the client online will become available.
Please keep in mind, though, that if you try to download the game client early via the digital download option, you will want to make sure that the region of the game client you’re downloading matches the region of the game license that will be shipped to you later on. If your game license region doesn’t match the downloaded client’s region, you will not be able to login.
To clarify further, if a player purchased the North American version of StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty from a store on July 27, he or she would need to ensure that the digital game client downloaded is also from the appropriate region (in this example, from North America). Otherwise, that player would be unable to login until the North American game client is installed.

So this means I can't download the EU (English) Version and then later activate it with a German key? Sucks to live in Germany
Guess I have to preorder from the UK then.
Edit: Or does this refer only to the "big" regions EU, US, Asia?

i have a question also, didnt want to make a new thread for this may be anybody can help me
so, i already got my cd key (and succesfully upgraded my b-net account to scii retail) and i understand that for the moment you cant install the game because its far from the 27th. but all around the world there are those midnight sales in the night frrm the 26th to the 27th but blizzard says you can't start to buy the digital copy before 10AM / 10:00 CEST. so can you play before the 10AM may be something like 0:01 if you already own a cd key (just like wow expansions) or are you just happy to buy your copy at a midnight sale and the wait to the next day ?
p.s. yes im a nerd and i dont want to wait 10 more hours

You are going to be able to play at midnight.

There was a problem authenticating your download. Please go to http://www.blizzard.com/account/ to start a new download.

Edit: it works for EU, Kor, Taiwan, and everything else. I only get the error from trying to launch the US client.
Someone help plz

Please help me guys, I am from India but somehow the Beta key I got was an EU one. I was unable to find any gaming site that could ship the game here and hence I couldn't preorder anywhere. I am totally new to this(digital download and stuff) and I want to play on the EU server(till the time cross realm play is enabled).
If I start the download now how will I get the activation code on the 27th? Plus the mode of payment will be via Credit card right?
And the single player will be available with the download right?(now you know what I meant earlier).
Is the game size around 12GB?
Please help out a fellow SC fanatic guys.

I read somewhere that the EU servers will be up @ 00:00 CET, which is 3:00PM PDT on July 26, wondering if its true and Europeans can get to play SC2 earlier.

The same thing happened to me half a dozen times, I have like 5 downloader files. It continued where the last one left off every time, though. Now it's done.

I will buy the game physically on the 27th morning, but it will be the french version and I would like to play in english, so I will have to register the game on my B.net account and then download it with the english client. I fear that the download servers will be saturated. Is there a way to dl the game now in english by the links u pointed in the firs post. Cause I read it's for onlyne purchase of the game only.

can you enter your CD key later if you already preordered it? I'm so eager to play I don't even want to install it when I get the copy/

From earlier in this thread, the link to: http://forums.battle.net/thread.html?topicId=25969522553&pageNo=1&sid=3000#6
Game activation keys, game licenses, and game clients are all region-specific. As noted above, if your game license and installed game client regions don’t match, you won’t be able to login.
This may have just pushed me off the edge in regards to SC2. I have 3 copies of the game pre-ordered for myself - one for a best buy midnight launch, one a release-day delivery from Amazon when it was listed for $49.99, and a third being a collector's edition shipped from gamestop online for $80. I had planned to use 1 key for the NA server, 1 key for the Europe server, and 1 key for the Asian server.
It appears that, unlike during the beta, this will not be possible. This means that not only is Blizzard unable to add a simple "Gateway selection" screen that existed in SC1, but even when I am going to pay for multiple copies for multiple accounts, they add new restrictions making that more difficult.
While I am taking the time to cancel two of my pre-orders now, I am debating whether I should also take the time to just cancel my 3rd one at this point due to all the issues I have with the game. As it is, I didn't even feel compelled to play one single game during the 2nd phase of the beta, and hence may desire to buy it may be more nostalgia based than anything else at this point.

I highly doubt someone who is willing to pay for 3 copys of Starcraft would ever consider getting on their high horse to then cancel them all in protest.

If this works its great. I preoredered a german copy and wanted to download the english client as soon as possible anyways. Now I already have that client when my dvd arrives and I just have to enter the key .)

This refer only to big regions aka realms. So you will be able to register the en_GB downloaded client with your german CD KEY.
It's like the beta key's, it is realm linked. Inside a realm, use the language you want.
PS: Already canceled my UK preorder

is anyone aware of the price for the Digital Download on release? I had my preorder canceled and reorder now will mean it wont arrive on release day I imagine, so it its no more expensive digital download would be more convient.

Same price as the boxed version.

Well tbh im still confused. If i download the client now off battle.net, go to a midnight launch buy the game will i be able to use that code on the version i downloaded? so therefore ill be able to play straight away at midnight? (well if the servers are up )
|
Yes, you will be. The downloadable client is the same as the one you get on your disc. You just have to register your game with your key in your battle.net account to play.
|
So why don't they let people use the downloaded version at midnight? I guess so the retainers don't have a fit.
|
"Digital Sales start 07/27/2010 10:00 AM PDT" so if i buy it from battle.net I wont be able to play until the morning after the release? T_T
