The internet: the last bastion of publicly debasing women without any social consequences.

I would suggest that you try and focus a bit more on speaking clearly with some better intonation. You can take a second to say something if it means you'll say it better, if you know what i mean. Don't feel like you have to speak non-stop.

Good to see lots of commentators giving it a shot

kitty is pretty cute but her voice sounds a bit dragged out - perhaps a bit of practice on pronunciation, intonation and articulation would end up being beneficial

What is actually important is RTS experience as a player. One of the reasons why Day[9]'s casts are so popular (besides his soothing voice) is the insight he brings to his viewers - because he has a lot of experience playing at a very high level in SC:BW, he is able to nitpick at little mistakes and compliment little things that players do that ultimately make or break the game for them, and explain why certain army positions / movements, building placements, strategic responses, etc. are good / bad.

Of course it is important to be (a) good speaker(s), which I don't doubt you are, but: how much RTS experience do you actually have? Why should we listen to your casts, what can you actually explain to your viewers that most of your viewers wouldn't have been able to figure out on their own?

The girl reminds me of peanut who commentated for a bit in SC1. I know this is a bit off topic but does anyone know what happened to her?

On the OP:

I think it is important to take into consideration that this is a guy/GIRL team, commentating is mostly for entertainment (with the exception of Day[9]). Saying that we shouldn't consider or ignore that girl part of that duo is like saying we should ignore the variety they are adding to the commentating scene.

The whole point of commentary is to add extra knowledge and entertainment to a replay. If people are willing to seek out commentaries, then they're almost certainly at a high enough level that your commentaries are not helpful to them.

That's okay; there are many commentators who do little to no analysis during a commentary. However, they make up for it with entertainment value, which your commentaries also lack. You aren't funny, you aren't good speakers, and the majority of what you say is more distractingly useless than entertaining.

Kitty: Your videos seem roughly equivalent to a fifth grader teaching grade 4 math. Yes, you know things, but you don't know them that well and you don't know how to teach them.

My suggestion to both of you is to step away from commentating until you're at a level at which your commentary is helpful, natural and entertaining. I'm not trying to be an asshole, but it really is impossible for casual low- to mid-level players to provide useful commentary. It's great that you want to help e-sports, but you have a few steps to take before you're actually helping anyone.

Hey, this is good! There's some room for improvement obviously, but no one's perfect off the bat. As some are saying, there's some knowledge that still needs to be learned in order for these videos to be really convincing. The SC with Kitty bits are catered to new players and I think they serve that purpose well. It's just that they could be livened up a bit to keep people interested. The best way to do this would probably just be to give yourself a general outline of what you were going to say and try to wing it. It needs to flow more.

Keep up the good work!

I think the real question is, how big of a role does variety play in the commentaries for everyone? Let's not titivate this to what it's not. Might as well start a commentating series of a black guy, a French grandmother, and a German shepherd dog casting SC replays.
Is that you, John Wayne? Is this me?

Will have to wait to see how you guys transition. From watching Krytos commentate I get the feeling that you guys haven't practised very much. But I think with the two of you working on it at the same time, you'll catch on quickly. What ends up happening a lot for single-commentators when they start out is that sometimes they're not entirely sure what to say during times when there are moments when more of the same is happening (ex: Players are doing standard stuff, no combat at the time, no harrass, macro situations). So learn to get through those moments by watching other commentators and you'll get a real feel for how to get through those.

Another thing to note is that when you work with someone, it's a lot easier to get through and that'll be a nice start for you guys I think. Make sure you don't talk over each other and try to work out who's going to open the start of replays, etcetera.

Looking forward to see you guys in action though.

I'm a commentator myself and you have any questions feel free to PM me. I organise tournaments and look for commentators for those as well, so I might contact you guys in the future. See you around.

we need more gimmicks in starcraft commentating IMO
who needs quality when your username is high definition starcraft or your commentating partner is a chick?
eventually we'll have commentators dressing up in hydralisk costumes or chicks dressing up as kerrigan to 1up eachother
cant f'in wait!

Hi everyone, thanks again for the support. As mentioned in the edited post above, right now Krytos and Kitty are split into two segments for the VODs. Kitty is sticking to basic SC w/ kitty while she smooths out her speaking skills and gains more knowledge of the game. Krytos also has alot more stamina for cranking out hours of VODs on end =P Down the road, Kitty and Krytos will recombine efforts to doing more commentaries together. We forgot to post it as "Commentator/Tips Duo", but the thread has already been made lol

can u plz tell us who u r and which is kitty's and krytos's actual accounts?

i want to talk directly to kitty but i feel weird doing it when its a shared account "kittyy"

its very frustrating trying 2 hit on someone when a dude shares her account, i am sure many other TL users feel the same way

bahahahaha :D

edit: the comentary was nice but kitty still needs to learn a lot about the game.

I find it funny how for some people it is okay to use cleavage to attract viewers but it is not okay for the viewers to discuss the cleavage in question because it's offensive for women... I demand a drastic change in Krytos' wardrobe: tight shirts, skinny jeans. Lose the glasses and the nerdy shirt, show us some pecks, etc. And the haircut, oh my...

The cat is okay though, you can never go wrong with a cat on the internet.

Anyway, as you are obviously new to casting, I would recommend some serious thinking over about what exactly are you going to do. While at the moment most good casters are good players as well, getting into the game with the sole idea of becoming a caster might actually turn out to be an advantage because you will not be burdened by your own expectations.
