More beta giveaways should be like this and less about random pointless contests. True quality gets rewarded here not random gimmick.

I don't have talents like this either.. so uhm.. I'm gonna try to win a beta key by... ah maybe... no. I'm usually good with figuring out cost efficiencies vs damage output and fiering speed of units in RTS games... but seeing as I don't have a key, I dont really have a good concept of it all, so that's not an option.. hmm... Don't suppose anyone need a morale boost or something? I can do that... :p Oh, I can stand on one foot for really long.. I haven't actually meansured... get bored, you know. >.< Seriously though... I think most things are already covered by those that are really into the game already and commentating/playing really good... Although not to put the OP down for this "contest" or anything! There surely is alot of things to talk about that is considered good info and insight, still. Maybe something to talk about would be the learning curve of SC2 vs SC/BW. Alot of control and mental capabilities is needed as well as a degree of good finger dexterity is also nessesary, to be a good player. SC2 is more tactical a game than SC1 was IMO.. because of the bonus damages added, you have direct, hard counters in SC2 that didn't exist in SC1. (I like that concept ALOT) However, for a newbie to get good at SC2, from scratch... there's really only one way: PLAY GAMES... lots of games! Over and over again until your fingers are getting it by themselves, you start to get faster and faster at doing what's needed. Also, take small time-out minutes sometimes, to think about what you're doing and what should be improved in your strategy. Watch your replays, analyze and do ask people about counters and such to get a better knowledge and playstyle. Do NOT go cheesing in every game just to win... you get alot better at the game if you try to get a solid Macro and evolve it to counter the enemies unit compositions..... I could elaborate alot more on this subject but... oh jeez... did I just write all that...? I'm sorry.. >.< textwall... *rollseyes* Anyway, cheers to teamliquid for all they do for the SC2 community! (Feel free to move the texwall to another forum if you find it useful)

I also do not understand that there are any rules aside from no self-nominating.

He seems like a really genuine guy and I think he would be very gracious if you even just considered him. Congrats Aether on getting a key! I'm backing IndecisivePenguin as well, I only started to get to know him in the CRUEL! contest. He puts thought, effort in his posts and he's good humored to boot! He stepped up to the challenge and justified his decisions. He wasn't afraid of voicing his opinion despite the criticism. He's shown to be quite open to it in fact and will respect it. He backed up what he had to say as well. Whether or not you agree with what he has to say, he seems like a reasonable person to me, just like NightOfTheDead, also another nominee I would consider for demonstrating he can think, something I haven't seen from a lot of new users. Though, I don't know if he wants to post more, but if he does, he'll do good. I would like to read more from them both about various topics in the future.
