It really depends how you play, and what diff things you try. There is gonna be a ton of cheese, things changing day to day / week to week, etc. Give the game a year or two before even talking about top players. Yeah there will be tournies and $$ games even in beta/first months. But this game has 2 expansions coming out still. It's gonna be extremely variant even with a great company like blizzard. A single expansion can completely change how the game plays, now the fact there will be 2 plus new maps, balance changes... This game will be around for 10+ years. What matters at this point imo, is Games Played. People like Oversky (inreach) etc putting up insane hours into the game, those are the guys to watch out for not some people cheesing every game or abusing the latest imba things.

I don't feel like people jumping at Fayth's neck for being upset is justified in any way. IdrA and Fayth are similar on many points and they both deserve the same criticism. People shouldn't take sides on who's more of a dick in the thread, they should just be dicks to each others in private if that's what they want. IdrA obviously gets a kick out of it since he has so many nut huggers on here it seems, so chances are he's going to be the one starting this shit. As far as I can see, Fayth and IdrA both exceed the acceptable levels of pretentiousness, but Fayth at least has a couple cool millions to show for his talents. I think results show he's been more successful and clever being a self-made millionaire "following his dreams" than IdrA who has a coach to report to and fixed hours to work. I can't blame Fayth for not being able to ignore IdrA's needling when we take that into account. But yes, the dick size measuring contest is juvenile. I don't see why you would ever bring society into the argument. It's a moot point. Some people's dreams might of just been being their own bosses and poker allowed that for them? Aren't you doing the same thing you criticize poker players of doing by saying this? Man that was a really good reply. I was going to make one addressing that post but this one is A+. Thanks for the compilation, I'd imagine it'd be hard to keep it updated constantly though :x

Points here are like points in a sport - they represent your performance over this season in your division, they don't try or claim to measure true skill rating. There is even a game spam element to acquiring points, you'll notice in most divisions that as a player is higher ranked they tend towards having played more games. That's also why there are noob-friendly bonuses like "rested points". It you don't play for a while you accumulate these points which release to you as you win games. It's there to help players who don't play as much, or took an absence, to "catch up". Every division in every league has a similar point spread, although the size of some divisions may affect the player's potential point gain. Basically, imo classifying the "top 200" based on the points in their division doesn't make much sense.

Not surprising considering the game is so micro focused. he's #1 cuz he's talented (he does well at poker too) he's just fit to be good, he's very dedicated, he plays a lot and he's smart so it has nothing to do with the game being more micro focused or him being a WC3 player, if he had played Brood War he'd prob just be the same
