I really wanna know that too...
I mean: It could be Millions of ppl that wanna get in, but maybe way less... I mean: I know about 10 ppl that either have SC1, WC3, WoW or Diablo2 and I'm the only one of them actually opted in. Also, I know lots of WoW-players, but I don't know for sure whether they opted in or not, but I'd say that if from those at least 30 WoW-players I "kinda" know 10 actually opted in, it would seem a lot for me. I just don't know how much WoW-players and even Blizzard-RTS-Fans care about this Beta and actually know about the opt-in etc.
Maybe we're just mislead by the SC1-Forums, were of course everyone opted in and of those, I kind feel that a surprisingly large number has a Key already, just based on the Posts I've read so far from ppl saying they got a key...

its not about cheating anymore. its about fairness from blizz. and if they let every single commentator in just because there a commentator then that is very unfair of blizz. like u said ppl have been waiting since day 1 of sc2s announcement in 2007 and they have not got in and yet these ppl can get in just by emailing blizz? hell no that is BS. i dont give a fuck if they are commentator or media, EVERYONE should have equal chance of getting in beta. commentators should not be an exception to this rule especially when some of the commentators that got in suck hard at commentating or doesnt commentate much at all
if they can get in just by saying "hey im a commentator can u give me a key pls?" then u damn well right i will email them saying that also. cheating/lying i dont care anymore. treat unfairness with unfairness.
theres ppl that are very loyal to blizz and extremly patient with them. but for me i cant take that shit. ppl getting freebies getting into beta when they should have never gotten in is just bs. we have MORE then enought commentators streaming games. why the hell does blizz want more and more? it is unfair and it should be allowed. but its happening and i damn sure am not sitting around while ppl undeserving are getting into beta while ppl more deserving sit out.
do u see how many ppl have gotten double and tripple keys for beta? do u see how many ppl are selling keys on ebay when there suppose to be free? why do the ebay fags and all get so many keys so they can sell off while we have to sit and wait? again i say its BS so ima do w/e it takes to get me one and u should aswell. but if u dont then hey stick with ur morals and stick with ur less then 1% chance of blizz randomly inviting u.

Has anyone with Windows SP2 and Xp got in yet? There was another post somewhere about SC II minimum requirements included SP3, but no answer was found to if anyone with SP2 has got it..

I share your opinion about Blizz not distributing the keys the way they should, but not because they give it to commentators (because many of them deliver great voD's, strems, Articles etc.) but because so many keys go to ppl that aren't true Starcraft-Fans and they don't really play Beta that much anyway, they don't write in Forums or make VoD's etc.
IMHO keys should be given out in this order:
Starcraft-Players >>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Warcraft 3 Players > Rest. I don't see why Blizz is not giving all he SC1-Players some love. -.-°

thats another point: I don't think true Fans, which mostly own SC1 and have played it A LOT, would sell the Betakeys and I really don't think Blizz approves of ppl selling the keys to Fans of the Series for ridiculous amounts of money, so why give them Betakeys?

blizzard should only give the beta keys to tl.net members and others big SC communities, by randomly pick the chosen ones blizzard will end up giving a lot of keys to people who dont really care about sc.

1) How to determine who is "real" Starcraft-Fan? - Needs A SC:BW CD-Key on opt-in Bnet Account. - SC1 Tournaments where winner gets a Key - Sc1 Quizzes where winner gets a Key - Check the amount of time played on Bnet with SC1 .... Really: There are so many ways, just use your imagination. I don't say it wouldn't require more engagement from Blizzard, but I think those true Fans deserve the Key more than WoW-players...
2) Yes; it's not just about being gosu and of course newbies should be able to enjoy SC2 as well, but NOT IN THE BETA! It makes no sense at all for Blizzard to stuff the Beta with noobs: - They don't play as much as "SC1-veterans" - They don't provide any information concerning Balancing-issues, because clearly SC2 will be balanced with professional gaming in Mind with absolutely no room for newb-concerns in balancing. - They don't do anything for the community, like streaming, writing articles, making VoD's etc. - They most likely won't give Blizz any Feedback and won't be as active on the Blizzard-Forums - The risk of them just selling the Key's is WAY bigger.
3) Okay, PC-Specs have priority, but I think that there are more than enough SC-Fans out there that you'll find ppl for various kinds of system-specs.

This thread is full of epic emo-style hilarity. I don't have a key either and I'm working on it, friends that don't care about it are all opted in for me. If at some point we end up with 2+ keys we will pass them on to others that live for SC.
However I don't feel a sense of entitlement just because I own all the blizz games. Just because I follow TL and enjoy seeing some starleague beat-downs in korean doesn't mean blizz owes me anything other than a quality game when it hits retail.
I hope you all get beta keys but please stop thinking your entitled to one.

I'm just waiting for the changes they've made from all the feedback from the current beta testers. I'd like to see some statistics of race breakdown, win percentage, most used units etc.

What I find fascinating is that you really believe that you have a 'right' to equality for a chance in beta. You are signing up for a chance to test their game, they can distribute their keys however they want. It isn't about fairness or anything like that.

Does anyone know the proper email address and can share? I didn't realize they were giving such priority to that, but I've been planning to legitimately make lots of great edited videos for SC2, and I have experience making lots of videos from WoW raiding (way back in the day).

Go to battle.net, then somewhere at the bottom of the page there should be some sort of costumer support link.
Go to the webform (I recall seeing a "opt-in" category when you select b.net), and fill it in.
But don't get your hopes up because blizzard is probably getting spammed by people who are "planning" on streaming/making movies/etc and want a key for that. When I look around at different forums I see a lot of people trying it.
