When I play BW I find switching between looking at top right for resources and bottom left for the minimap to be unnecessary, since the resources could just be on top of the minimap or to the right.
Everyone knows that keeping an eye on the minimap is extremely important in every game that have one and keeping an eye on resources and supply limit is important too. I don't see any downside at all to moving the counter to the minimap, even if you are really used to looking top right you always look at the minimap anyways so getting used to it would be really easy.
Should it be moved? I think it's a no-brainer and it would make the game more pleasant to play. Can anyone think of a reason it should not be moved?

I'd even like it to be intergrated into the HUD or whatever it's called. Somewhere in there with the unit stats, commands and the minimap.
But then again, having it in the top corner forces you to keep your eyes more in the center of the screen, so in one way it's good the way it is right now.

I think that the best alternative would to make its location customizable so that it is possible to have it in the top right for those who prefer it that way and at the bottom left for those who so wish.

yeah, making the location customizable sounds like a good idea. but i'm actually used to top right though.

Customizable HUD location/setup would be incredibly awesome, but probably not gonna happen.

For the record I dont think the Multiplayer portion of Starcraft2 should be customizable (but UMS/custom maps should).

Why?
Surely it's up to the player to decide where they want their UI to suit them better. It's not adding any imbalance because anyone can change it to put it where they want.

Ever seen the World of Warcraft standard interface vs. a custom interface? I think that is what he is talking about.

I've played WoW for many years.
I do believe the OP is talking about just being able to move stuff to where you want it to be. Not any form of customised mods or anything.

I might be wrong but I think Blizzard even said they want the UI set for multiplayer so its completly fair and even. Im not sure 100% sure though.
Anyway I think the best part of the idea to put resource count near mini map is that it helps teach new players to watch their mini map.

Yes that is why I suggested the standard position be moved, since it's very easy to do and it is more user friendly. Customized UI is controversial, but having at the bottom left is not.

Being able to decide where the resource count is hardly gives anyone unfair advantage.

I agree but I think its more the principle of "everyones on the same footing". Again if Blizzards fine with customizable UI then im swayed but I recall them saying they wouldnt allow it for Multiplayer.
