I'm trying to find some way to fix it up, but it definitely won't be up soon. At least #171 is about TvT! Sorry about that ![]() Ah what a shame , was looking forward to it. Didn't the person who recorded the preshow, record the daily as well ? That might be the way to go ?

Spoiler tagged for those who haven't seen it yet. + Show Spoiler + If you light 3 ends of the string, as Day9 says is the solution, you will know when a half-hour has passed (the first string is burnt up) and you'll know when a full hour has passed (second string burnt up) but you'll still have to guess as to when the 45 minute mark is. Maybe I'm missing something here, but that's my thoughts. Good daily otherwise though. Fancy schmancy play.

First string burns in an hour if you light it in both ends. It burns in 30 minutes if you light both. The other string will have burnt in one end for 30 minutes and thus have gone for half of its burn-time. If you then light the other end the remaining 30 minutes of burn-time will be cut in half, which is 15 minutes. So you burn for 30 minutes and then 15 minutes = 45 minutes.

Holy sh!t. 300 bonus points? Woah! That's alot lol. Guess Day9 hasn't played alot lately.

Day9 went on about people making assumptions like the string burns at constant speed, but his preferred answer relies on lighting both ends causes it to burn twice as fast, which is not specified in the problem and hence also only an assumption. For example the extra heat from both ends being on fire might cause it to burn faster. On Topic: Would love to see an equivalent to the terran and protoss build order testing episodes for zerg. Seems like it would be harder to do since zerg tends to be more reactionary, so would love to see what you do when working out zerg scenarios.

These kind of riddles cannot be solved just with the information provided in the riddle itself. But that's the idea! To solve them people have to ask question that can only be answered with "yes" or "no" and by this they try to gain more information and after some time the riddle makes sense. I'm pretty sure many of you know that kind of guessing game. Cheers!

Cheers! yeah those riddles are designed (or chosen) to develop "lateral thinking", that is, to get the person solving it to think as many solutions and possibilities as he can instead of just trying to follow one logic path. usually there's no right answer xcept the one that is more simple/makes more sense, or as day9 said it himself, the more elegant one (until someone comes up with a better one).
