This is not really an issue in the On Demand videos becausethe video pauses and resumes in the same spot during the ad. However, during live casts, these ads would mean we miss 30 seconds of content every ~10 minutes. Live Casts don't get ads injected, but they do get the occasional popup type of banner ad on the stream. Those ad breaks every ~10 minutes have been happening to me on other peoples' live livestreams. Not consistently, though. I really do hope this won't happen on the Day[9] Dailies.

There aren't any more dailies posted on the calendar, but he did say that his grad school was out on the 30th. I assume that the dailies will continue Sunday as normal, but does anyone know for sure?

Yes he only took this week off i'm so happy Day is off for the summer :D so happy

Yeah i just got this problem. Right before the end of the Sluggy game it went to a second add break for the droid phone...

Yep, I'm getting ads every 10 minutes watching the d9 daily. Horrible, horrible service. Livestream is bad.

Looks like ads are indeed being injected during live casts. I was getting 30 second ads during the East vs. West coast show match every 10 minutes exactly like I described during the On Demand videos.
This is EXTREMELY annoying since you miss about 30 seconds of the live cast every 10 minutes. This could mean missing an entire battle in the middle of a match! It seems that the livestream staff was very helpful when Sean created the feedback thread. Could we express how disruptive this is to livestream? Maybe this was not an intentional implementation on livestream's part. We should at least make livestream aware of this and what it could mean for the quality of the casts.

Oh this are some annoying spikes going on x( Best quotation: "I have to reboot the stream cuz Livestream is daaa... [spike]"
|
Livestream is such shit. Love the casts but livestream is really holding you back
|
Everybody close the stream for a few minutes so Sean can restart it.
|
live stream makes me scream! it's easy to remember because it rhymes. also, as everyone knows, because it rhymes it must be true.
|
Won't let you go live with more then 2000 viewers? That's some damn nonsense.
|
Every one get out of the channel we want day9 to start livestreaming!
|
Looking forward to the ustream migration.

Exactly. If you know someone is bringing in 2k+ viewers to your website EVERY NIGHT you think they would do their damn best to help that stream work with all those ads they run.

I knew when he said "restarting stream" and looking at around 3500 users, it wouldn't end well.
|
Could somebody just post when the stream is back up so we know?

The cost of bandwidth to stream to that many users is probably greater than the money they pull in from advertisers.

^ the smart thing would be to charge by the amount of viewers then.
lol that would create some strange situations.

You should try ustream, it's so much smoother and handles over 8000 viewers without any lagg.
