11-1. Haaland 5 goals and he even gave away a penalty to Thelo Aasgard - who scored 4 in 25 minutes.

If we win home vs Israel and home vs Estonia, we can probably lose like 0-6 against Italy in the final match and still win the group.

That GD is gonna be nutty. Actually important given the strength of the group where a tiebreaker might happen.

For me it was the government militia attacking their fans during the match for chanting anti-government slogans that did it.
Its a shame because I think their regular fans are great, but then there's always like a small, loud racist bunch somewhere or some shit like this goes down.

Saw some awkward translation describing the Haaland's 5th goal as 'small hand'. After initial confusion, it turns out that apparently there's some Spanish phrase for 5 goals that roughly translates as small hand. 5 fingers in one hand, I guess.

Erling Haaland Small Hand sounded like the least menacing Viking ever.

Might also just look like a very small hand in relation to what that hand is holding. Btw, we could use 'handjevol', which is the diminutive of hand-ful, but that only translates to small literally.

On the plus side, by far England’s best showing under Tuchel, genuinely a great performance, and with a good few almost guaranteed starters missing. First time Serbia have been beaten by 5 at home

I wasn't happy about it at the time, but trading Clinton for Park is looking like a good decision so far.

Would anyone have bet that Pep would field Haaland and Donnarumma five years ago?
He's become so pragmatic (and more successful thus)

I dunno if he’s more pragmatic, he’s just changing it up a bit.

Was he not pragmatic in how he built that Barca team, still for me the best club side in history?

His sides have always played how they play because he thinks it’s the best way to play, he’s no less pragmatic than like, Sean Dyche he’s just got a different take and generally better personnel.

Selling Etoo was not a pragmatic decision.. Also wasn't most of the 2008/09 squad at Barca when Pep became manager?

Imo a lot of decisions Pep made were very stubborn because he has based a lot of decision on his preferred style. Took him years playing against Klopp's Liverpool (where he was battered H2H) to finally accept that sometimes he should play a different style.

No, I actually praise the current Pep. He has evolved a lot from the stubborn man he used to be. Stubborn Pep could have never won the Treble with City,

It wasn’t even Pep’s best City side that won the treble, as I say many times, you need an excellent side to have a shot at the CL, but you generally need some fortune as well.

Pep isn’t infallible, indeed the whole point of signing Zlatan was to change things a bit, way back then, it just didn’t come off. Given what Zlatan has said on the matter subsequently, I’m inclined to think he bears a lot of the blame for that.

Indeed, some of Pep’s biggest failures are famously when he ‘overthought’ and tried to counter his opposition, rather than just do the usual thing. The midfield setup against Tuchel’s Chelsea, his Bayern being hammered by Barca in the CL most notably.

My point is, both things can absolutely be pragmatic. Pep had insane results, over a bloody long period at the elite level, usually winning things every year, playing his more ‘trademark’ style because he felt it was the best way to play, and had the players for it. Tweaking it may be equally as pragmatic.

And he changed plenty before Haaland came along. Man City had that phase where they worked it around and had Sterling running to the back post for a tap-in seemingly every game. They had phases where their fullbacks would underlap, or tuck into midfield. Latterly Pep seems to quite like playing 4 centre backs as a back line, and has employed that for quite a while now.

The guy is famously an obsessive, borderline lunatic who is constantly trying to find the new thing and not stagnate. He hasn’t been right at the top for 20 years now, and in the opinion of many the best coach of the 21st Century by being stubborn and not adapting.

No it wasn't. It was the opposite. He got rid of players like Ronaldinho, Deco, Zambrotta, Thuram and brought Pique, Busquets, Dani Alves, Keita.
