That call is basically never made it was made vs Porto even in this champions league. Diogo Costa saved a penalty, they did a repeat due to someone going in and interfering with the ball clear and the kid had to save a second penalty. That is an example from the end of the group stage from this very same competition. Penalty repeats do happen from time to time.
Forgive the hyperbole. What I'm (seriously) wondering now is if there is any incentive for the penalty taker's team NOT to enter the box early-ish (not blatantly, of course), if it only matters when the penalty was missed anyway.

Obvious handball and even the German referee expert said that repeating the pen was the only correct call according to the rules. That call is basically never made I guess the key point is that one of the Dortmund players who ran into the area early was the one who cleared the ball. It could be argued that if he hadn't run in early, a Dortmund player might have gotten there to convert the rebound. If Havertz had missed completely rather than it rebounding back into play off the post, I'm betting the VAR doesn't make that call. That's very possible. It's just such an unequal situation - what are you gonna do if a Chelsea player scores off the rebound. According to the rules, you'd have to redo the penalty, no? Which seems absurd Not sure. Maybe it's just an offensive foul in that case, and the defensive team gets a free kick (effectively, a goal kick). I don't know if that requires a rule change, but I do agree that retaking the penalty in that case is absurd.

it should be given an offensive foul if they interfere in the play IIRC. But dont quote me on that, I may me misremembering

Wait, so did Bayern's goal got disallowed just because Muller TRIED to play the ball? What the hell?

Bye bye psg. You won't be missed.

PSG is such a joke of a football team, even as a meme they are so damn boring...

Big game from de Ligt. He has kind of struggled ever since he left Ajax, mainly compared to the stratospheric expectations.
This could be his breakthrough. He was the reason Bayern didn't concede on multiple occasions. That goal line clearance was inspiring

Two legs - no goals from Mbappe, Messi or Neymar. (Yes injuries and what not) What a failure of a project and shows that a team makes success and not individual players!

I'm always highly amused by those clubs stacking the millions up front... And then Bayern, who were also blessed with Lewandowski all those years, are now still cruising around the absolute top tier with Choupo Moting.

I admit I didn't see the second leg, but how can this be true and at the same time people are so happy bashing PSG for doing nothing?
Judging from the comments here, PSG could very well have gone through if not for some timely intervetions from de ligt?
PSG was doing well before the WC break and players came back in chambles after it. Even in house where the competition is terrible, they are struggling. So despite this elimination being fuel for several of the posters here, its less about the project and more to focus on what happened between then and now. Are they all colelctively moaning because they failed to win the WC and had that expectation? Did messi win the WC and just went on perma vacations even when on field? Something else?

I have seen the whole game, his saves were really great but more than often his passes were utter shit. People only remember this one save on the goal line I guess.
@PSG: they could have played 10 hours and still would not be able to score, Messi was non existent except complaining to the ref, Mbappe had like 1 okayish action. Verratti was super terribad, lost the ball like a noob that lead to the 1:0. It was like some journalist wrote: soulless ... the players, the strategy, the coach, the "stars", the whole club.

Yeah, imagine how good bayern could be with a decent center forward. Should still be priority to get one.

Choupo moting is definitely a decent centre forward... he is just not starter level for a club like bayern but definitely good enough to be a very good squad player

Any guesses on where PSG goes this summer? Messi and Ramos are definitely declining due to age, Neymar is struggling with injuries and starting to decline. Mbabbe is secured until summer 2025 as far as I can tell. Rebuild or scramble for two more UCL runs? How much Mbabbe has say on any of this?

Liverpool response to 7-0 drubbing of yanited with a 1-0 loss and penalty miss vs Bournemouth, what a strange season

Funny, earlier in the season their response to a 1-2 loss against United was a 9-0 trouncing of Bournemouth.

maybe it sums up liverpool at the moment. they can play when they can be arsed but most of the time they just cant be fucked now.

Chelsea, for the second time this season, scored more than 2 goals in a game. Made them go above 1 goal per game average. Wohoo.

It is nice to score goalazos! Scored 5 by two were offside and we also hit the post was nice!! Looked bit shakey defensively at times and Leicester might have let us off the hook but it was a nice win for sure.
